Casualties From "The Hacking"

Is it me or are there very few really active posters around right now? There used to be a pretty good balance from quite a few contributors, but now it's the same 7 or fewer people talking back and forth. Looking at the post counts there's 7 people above 50 posts, and then there's a drop off of about 20. Not to mention we're apparently losing Wolvrin704, who was the 3rd leading poster.

So what major contributors haven't been back? We should be holding a funeral service.

Yeah, it's kind of a down time right now w/ UM not being in a bowl. Things will pick up near signing day. I've noticed amazinblue hasn't been around as much. I always like reading his posts. I'm glad to see 1tuosnuts hasn't been around as much.

I don't think people understand what happened. Editor may be able to shed some light on this but some of those people who aren't here probably lost their computers from the hack and are busy rebuilding.

If you were on the site and using IE6.1 or earlier the site uploaded a self replicating worm to your system unless you has a virus scanner or were running Firefox. My fiddler program picked it up the first time I came to the site after it had been hacked.

well there is also no season or any games to talk about now.....only us anxiously awaiting new recruits.

So you're saying if you were on the site when it happened you got f-ed? I got an email from mich fan in cbus asking me wtf happened. When I clicked over to the site it just said it was hacked and that weird doll face and a bunch of nerdy dumb ass names were listed on the screen.

I've been reading the site since the sack carr days but usually stick to the sidelines on most threads. I would agree that it seems like the number of meaningful and thought out posts has been in decline.

As far as the worm goes, I didn't see anything suggesting it. The first time I noticed the site had been hacked was from a campus computer. And they typically blow up/log you off if you contract a virus. (This way the entire campus isn't infected.) Also opened up the site from my laptop and didn't have any problems...

I would have to say the general decline in posts is more due to the off season rather than the hacking the site under went .

Personally I am more of a lurker at this point since I'm not a member of Rivals or Scout to keep up on the recruiting progress.

Also another item that might be limiting posts is the time of the season, most everyone is extremely busy with the holidays also.

Very true. Unfortunately, they drew a team that has a legitimate argument to be in the mnc game, and one that is going to try to make a huge statement to the nation.

Nah, if we have a coach that consistently can't win the big game we tell him to hit the bricks, we don't keep letting him coach and talk about how great he is. RR only has one year under his belt, he gets a fair shot at building this team to his liking.

With the class Carr left him, that was amazing.

They were holding me for ransom money. They gave me one phone call to try and drum up some money so they'd release me. I thought, "OK, Elno will rally the guys to help me." I WAS WRONG. Here's the phone call:

Thats exactly it...with Michigan not being in a bowl game "the hack" came at the perfect time to kill traffic here on this site...I wasn't a HUGE contributor to posts but I had well over 200 before the collapse...I was spent after this season and needed to take a short break...Now with Mcguffie transferring, recruiting heating up and the re-emergence of Michigan basketball...I think we'll start to see a lot more guys/girls coming back.
