I'm thinking about putting a little wager on one of these games. As of now I'm thinking about taking either Florida -3 over Oklahoma or USC -10 over Penn State. I'm wondering if you guys would help me on which game or games to take. But you must pick them either giving the points or taking them.
1-1-09 Rose Bowl USC -10 over Penn State,
1-1-09 Orange Bowl Cincinnati -1.5 over Virginia Tech,
1-2-09 Sugar bowl Alabama -10.5 over Utah,
1-5-09 Fiesta Bowl Texas -10 over Ohio State,
1-8-09 BCS championship Florida -3 over Oklahoma

Honestly, I think the safest bet would be to take Texas minus the points over tuos. I honestly can see that one getting out-of-hand. Texas is looking to make a statement and possible pick up a co-national champion label. I think tuos's defense will be able to stop Texas early, but they just have too many options. Tuos, in the end, gets picked apart.

I agree, that texas spread is the safest. Second would be the alabama spread. Bama looked good all season and when i think of utah i see them barely beating a young michigan team.
second thoughts: id never bet against vt, and i have no idea which way the national championship is going to go

Thanks. I'll consider that one.

Now that two guys in a row picked Texas as the safest pick, I'll really consider that one. Thanks.
I was also thinking the Alabama one would be a good one. Especially since they're the second best team in the SEC and did play Florida tough till the end. Plus they got Saban.

Thanks. USC is another one that looks good to cover. Especially being that it's in their backyard.

I think USC is going to roll Penn State. The Buckeyes and Penn State are about as even as you can get - and USC rolled the Bucks. Penn State (much like the Bucks) has to travel to the Trojans backyard. That is always a huge advantage to USC. The Buckeyes actually will match up very well with Texas and they play very well in Arizona. The Longhorns have not played any highly ranked defenses either. I expect the Bucks to win outright - so I will take the 10 points.

Thanks Nut. And Pete Carroll will have every Trogan loose and enjoying the sun while Penn State will be tight and then outplayed.

I think you are right, but my only pause is that the USC offense has been quite stale at times this year. In fact, it has been eroding since Chow left. Is Sarkisian staying through the bowl?
Do you guys think PSU is really tough on D? I only saw them against us, they didn't look too tough, and OSU, looked pretty good. Not sure if they match up with USC.

Thanks. USC and Texas seem to be the top picks so far. This is assuming the point spreads stay around the same. I've seen them move up or down 3 or 4 points in a week.
There's also other bowl games that weren't mentioned cause there was no line in the paper. I'm also wondering if Georgia might be a good bet over Michigan State depending on the line.

PSU looked amazing (95%) on D in the 2nd half against us. If that team shows up, that game gets really tough. I'm not touching the rose bowl game, its too iffy in my book.

I'm betting the farm on Texas. They definitely have something to prove. After all, they did beat Oklahoma and would like to have been in their spot! They will be fighting for that shared championship. I don't think they will ever let up. It might be somewhat close in the first half but that's only because the defense will have plenty of rest being that it won't take Texas long to score however they will get tired and Texas will keep on scoring. In fact, my gut feeling is that by the time March Madness starts, we may still be hearing Touchdown Longhorns!

Thanks for reassuring me on Texas. If you say you're going to bet the farm on Texas, maybe I will. So far Texas and USC are the two highest on my list.

So far Texas and USC are my top two picks. But I'm just wondering what you guys think of Georgia -7.5 over Michigan State?
Taking Georgia seems like that might be just as good. But only if the majority of you guys think it's ok.

I want to bet against the big ten and make some money too, but it'll take some of the fun out of rooting for the underdog in hoping that the Big 10 can get some respect back. Although I hate OSU I've actually grown to hate USC more in recent years. I guess because OSU has a similar midwestern culture as Michigan and I see USC as being totally forgein along with the fact that I resent how they've throttled Big 10 teams for what seems like eternity now. Pete Carroll also seems like a total prick. I also like Penn State because of Joe Pa (He had hands down the best big 10 commercial this year "COME TO PENN STATE!!") and the fact that we usually beat them. However, it seems like a sure bet that USC will cover the spread.

Thanks. It can be tough picking a team who you don't want to win but pick them cause you think they'll win and cover the spread. Once again another vote for taking USC as one of the top picks.

On second thought Texas might be the way to go as the only team that beat USC was Oregan St. and Penn State beat them.
Out of curiousity does anyone remember what the spread against Michigan at the Capital One Bowl last year was? I can't believe that was a similar defense to what we had this year personnel wise. I realize they gave up some points to Florida but I was still impressed with their performance.

Florida was favored by 10 points. About everyone on here, including myself, thought Florida would cover. To this day people don't know why Michigan didn't use that same offense during the season as they did against Florida. Just another reason why Carr had to go.
