Breaking news from UF:

Urban Meyer gets a new six year deal paying a cool $4 million per. Man, it probably doesn't suck to be that guy right about now. I just wish those things were ironclad, i.e., they have to finish them unless of an emergency...like death.

Gator,

You must be mistaken. It's all but confirmed that Meyer will be the next coach at ND. After all, as some people have said - Florida's destined for the bottom of the SEC East after Tebow graduates.

Man, you better tell Meyer he better start recruiting to find some talent to replace what's graduating. Oooops, I forgot - he has - and has to be one of the targeted schools for every premiere football player in the Southeastern US.

With this deal, you guys will be tough for a while.

You know, I want Urban to coach us for as long as he wants. I just hope that Charlie Strong stays with us. That way FL can be just the 2nd SEC program and the first real NC contender to offer a black man a HC position. Maybe Strong turns out to just be one of those guys who is a great coordinator and not such a great head coach, but since defense wins championships I wouldn't mind letting a couple seasons ride with him after Meyer leaves. In fact, before Carr was fired, someone asked me on this site who I might think a good fit for UM. If memory serves correctly, I think I listed Peterson (from Boise St.), Les Miles, and Charlie Strong. At the time, RR just seemed out of the realm of possibility. I mean he was at his alma mater....I would never leave my Gators, and I'm sure most Wolverine fans wouldn't leave either. I just don't understand that. Maybe it would make more sense with zeros on the end of it.???;)

Once Florida goes on probation Urban will be worthless.

Urban will be remembered for 2 things IMO

1. Cheating
2. Losing to Michigan against a 90 year old coach

Everything else will be forgotten in the sands of time.

Point 1. As usual....no evidence.

Point 2. Yeah, we lay awake at night thinking about that Capital One Bowl instead of our 2 NCs and visions of a third. If we don't think of it now, I doubt we'll remember it in 10 years.

I guess I could respond with something like RR will be remembered for the worst season in UM history, or that UM will always be remembered for being the only ranked team to lose to an FCS team, but instead I'll just say, "Dream on, turdwinkle."

Urban will be rememebered as a coach who won where ever he coached.

I know his public campaigning in 2006 is not popular with Michigan fans. Even though Florida crushed oSU I was suprised they jumped Michigan in the polls.

I think he should stay at Florida but the ND drum does not stop beating.

Not surprising, 4 of the top 5 coaches in the nation this decade so far are "Ohio Born & Bred Coaches."

*Urban Meyer- Florida

*Jim Tressel - Ohio State

*Les Miles - LSU

*Bob Stoops - Oklahoma

*Only Pete Carroll of the 5 was not born and raised in Ohio, {but he did coach at Ohio State for a while, as did Tressel and Meyer in the 80's, and Meyer was also HC at Bowling Green, Oh.}

Good to see someone else has noticed where almost all of the best coaches come from. OH-IO.

And how about Bo Pellini? Youngstown?

Pete Carroll coached defensive backs with Earl Bruce the year Bucks played USC (go figure?) in the Rose Bowl for the NC. 1980? He (Carroll) said one of his fondest memories at OSU was running into Woody in the parking lot outside the Shoe, introducing himself as one of the new assistant coaches, and letting Woody know how much he admired him. Woody said "Thank you, young man and good luck to you." And the rest, as they say, is history.
