Since not there's not too much else going on, just wanted to hear some opinions on this.
I for one do not like this. Yes I know he coached there. Yes I know Eastern is not a Powerhouse, but Lloyd SHOULD be spending his time doing what he can helping Rx2 recruit.

who said he isnt helping RR recruit? I dont know what good him helping RR would be. He doesnt have a position on the UM staff. He and RR go after different types of players.
As far as helping EMU i have no problem with it. He coached there and if he wants to help let him.

I heard he was pushing hard to get Scott Loeffer in there as HC. That would be great for him and his family. Carr always has been loyal to his friends and I'm sure he will always have Michigan #1.

Help RR recruit ?
Carr is going to stay as far away from that situation as possible. I'm not sure he even likes RR. I'm sure he is saying the right things on the outside - but a part of him had to enjoy seeing RR struggle this year.

You know what 1osunut , it pains me to think you might be right about lloyd with rich rod and if that is the case ,it really is to bad, the fact that notta has been said from lloyd leads me to believe their is some friction .. As bo always said dont hold grudges and if you have a problem with someone get off your chest and solve it..

You lack of understanding of Michigan football is astounding.

WTF??? Look, it speaks volumes that EMU is asking Carr to help, especially considering Bill Martian didn't ask Lloyd to name his successor at Michigan last year. Carr knows more about football than DikRod and Martian combined, and you can take that to the bank. No men in the history of our beloved University have done more damage to the program than those two idiots Martian and DikRod have.
As for Ricky Leach and his "Carr should support DikRod" crusade, spare me. What a flaming homer he is turning out to be. What Leach is saying is that any man can ruin our program, because in the end, we're all winners!!! I never thought Leach would turn out to become such a pu$$y. His head is buried up DikRod's @ss just as much as Martian's is. My solution? Fire Martian, fire DikRod, and send their boy Leach with them out to Standford.....maybe they can sit around and jerk each other off with Harbaugh and all the other Cali fruits out there.
What's even more funny about Leach, though, is that his boy DikRod won three fukking games last year, and yet turned around and went to damn BASKETBALL game last weekend. Amazing, truly amazing.

RTB,
Did it even occur to you that RR was at the Basketball game with Recruits? You know, Will Campbell and some of the other players that we'd like to come to Michigan and play football wearing Maize n Blue.
And, your comments about Leach - well, they just confirm the things I thought about you before. Perhaps you'd like to include Jim Mandich (remember, he was captain of the '69 team), maybe Dan Dierdorf, maybe Don Dufek.
By the way - I seem to have forgotten, what position did you play for Michigan? Or, what position did you play on the scout team? Maybe - just maybe - you were an assistant. Oh yes, you've been to some games during your lifetime - and that allows you to denigrate RR, Leach, and everyone else that's part of the football team right now. I can respect a different opinion than mine - ideally one that has shown some thought, and (ideally) intelligence. Unfortunately, your posts seem to have neither.
So, go ahead - and keep making your intuitive and expert comments. From now on, I'll just ignore them...

Let's see this site and Michigan fans in general for the most part wanted Carr's head on a silver platter. You got it. Carr being the class guy he is still coached the team to a great victory over the defending NC Florida - then he was gone. He had zero input from all accounts on who his sucessor would be.
Then Martin and RR meet secretly in Toledo and you back up the Brinks truck to hire RR in Ann Arbor. If you think that did not frost Carr's @ss then your crazy. I'm sure he hates seeing Michigan football suffer the way it did - because he WAS a Michigan Man. That used to mean something when Bo was alive.
I'm sure there is more then a little pleasure inside Lloyd Carr when he sees RR struggle with the media, fans and history - not to mention the on the field mess. Michigan wanted him out and someone better in - well be careful what you wish for. But if you think Carr is going to go out of his way help RR look good - your crazy.

Oh c'mon guys, Lloyd may be a big guy, but just like us all there is a part of him that knows he left at a time when most people wanted him gone, booed at his team on the field. Irrespective of how he feels about RRod (or for that matter anyone else we might have hired), how can he not smirk a bit inside seeing the team this year? Sort of a 'take that' feeling. Its human nature.
Basically, I kinda agree with NUT. bleech.

I don't care one bit that Carr isn't coming out and publicly supporting RR -- and to be honest, I understand why he's not given the circumstances. Furthermore, I don't want Carr anywhere near the recruiting -- I think that the separation is a good thing. Neither do I care that he's helping EMU with their search.
However, RTB's comment about Leach being a "homer" is laughable -- of course he's a homer -- he's Ricky Leach one of greatest Michigan Men of all time! I listened to his other radio interview, and I have to say the guy hits it over the fence -- and this latest interview is out of the park! Cupboard bear indeed! Can't argue with number RTB, but of course, you never comment on anything factual, just rant and rave like the fool that you are.
RR is going to be a monster, and many people that are close to the program, that were in the program for many years think so -- I am inclined to believe them, and not blithering MORONS like you RTB who have gone to a few games!

Please...Carr knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he resigned as head coach. He knew Michigan was going to struggle next year with the talent they had available. You think Carr was going to sit through a rebuilding season...NO!
You kill me with all the knowledge you have for Michigan, why do you even care? I don't care about tUOS or will I ever care what goes on with that Universtiy. Only time I get news about them is when someone gets arrested (which is pretty frequent). Living in Cincinnati, I get the stories. Stick to hyping up tUOS, that's the only thing you are good at...

Nut,
I appreciate your insight. But, let's get a few things straight. Yes, Carr coached the team well - and they executed well in his last game against Florida. I loved the way they played, and am greatful for the win - on a bigger stage. My question is - where was that offense over the rest of the season? I know we had injuries, but - Michigan didn't play a single game in 2007 that resembled the performance against Florida.
I have always respected Carr as a man and a coach. I've disagreed with certain things - but, I've never questioned his integrity. I just don't think we were getting the most from our players and our program. We didn't develop players they way we should have. But, that's water over the dam.
Now, to ensure the timetable is correct - RR was not hired AFTER the Capital One bowl, nor did the meetings with RR occur AFTER the bowl game. Those meetings took place in December. And, RR may have been able to provide some insight and guidance to Carr & staff about a spread offense and how to defend it - but, I'm guessing that Carr didn't do much more than invite RR to practices to check things out. And, it was Carr's prerogative to do what he wished, and it's RR's prerogative to do what he wishes now - when you're the head coach - you make those decisions.
I don't read anything into what Carr has or hasn't said about this season and RR. If someone wants to know what Carr thinks - maybe someone from the Detroit News or Free Press can interview Carr.
Your perspectives on being, or not being a Michigan Man mean nothing to me. I do have a question though. Was Coach Bo a Michigan Man before he arrived in Ann Arbor? I don't think so. Did Bo become a Michigan Man while he was here? I think the answer would be a definitive yes. So, RR arrived in Ann Arbor similar to the way that Bo did - and, my guess is - he'll become a beloved figure in Ann Arbor, the way Bo did as well.

RTB,
It appears you have quite a bit of disdain for Bill Martin. I'm just wondering - do you think Beilein's a bad hire as well?
I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks Beilein is doing fine with the basketball program. And that Michigan football will have a similar resurgence faster than some detractors out here think.

dude, rtb is an idiot and the only person who takes his posts with any seriousness is OSUnut. it's best to just read their posts like you're talking to a six year old.

I've had season tickets at Michigan since 89 and know the Moellers pretty personally, so when I say that if Carr wanted to Stay this year and next year, or whenever, he had earned that right. He ran a clean program, he won 75% of his games and he never embarrassed the program and the university. He also helped the community out as much as he could. Personally, had Car stayed another year, we probably would be talking about Brady Hoke being the next coach. That said, most people in the know figure Les Miles would be Michigan's next coach, and the real story will never be told, rather Les slow played Michigan for a better contract, rather Michigan never offered or Herbie blew the whole thing up. Personally, I believe it is a little bit of all three. RR is our coach, he has my support ($1500 every May), so that is the end of story
