This is bad news for the buckeyes. Could mean true freshman Matt Barkley, the nation's top recruit could win the starting role. Barkley is a can't miss NFL prospect who enrolled early at USC. This kid is better than Leinart, Palmer and Booty. Here's a quote from the OC register:

Carroll repeatedly has said Barkley is more advanced than any freshman quarterback he has worked with at USC – a group that includes current NFL players Matt Leinart, Matt Cassell, John David Booty and Sanchez. Carroll took it a step further Wednesday, referring to Barkley as an "outlier" as defined by Malcolm Gladwell in his best-selling book.

He talks about guys that, through their development and upbringing, at times they can accelerate past other people because of the amount of time (spent), the makeup, the support group. Whatever it is, he (Barkley) is off the charts," Carroll said.

"If Matt is able to work his way to the No. 1 spot and hold onto that, we have an unusually gifted guy."

Barkley (Mater Dei High) took the majority of the first-team reps for the second day in a row. He connected on long passes to tailback Joe McKnight and tight end Blake Ayles. Even more important, Barkley continued to avoid interceptions, something he couldn't do in spring.

Asked about the opportunity presented to him – first by Sanchez's departure for the NFL, then by Corp's injury – Barkley said: "This has been my dream for quite some time, and it's almost becoming a reality. I pray a lot about it. It's getting close, but there's no reason to lay off and think I have it. I'm just going to keep my head down and work at it."

The two remaining SC QBs would be starting for most major CFB programs, although Barkley may be suspect to make newbie judgements under extreme pressure.

I don't think it's going to matter which of these guys qb's against tuos. tuos will get a steady dose of Joe McKnight and i'm not sure they will be able to handle that all day. USC will use their qb's mostly to get the ball to guys like McKnight and the other skill players to ease the pressure off of an inexperienced qb in an big game like that. just my .02.

I agree - their O-line manhandled OSU's line last year and they've got all those guys returning. USC won't have to ask their QB to win this game - just manage it.

this changes nothing in terms of ohio state having an advantage, usc has the best dbz in the nation they have 3 or 4 guys besides joe mcnight who could start for any team in the country at running back , usc has 3 guys who are better then anything osu can field at running , they have the entire offense back except sanchez, they will not miss a beat , most of the young guys that didnt start on D all played the entire 2nd half of last years osu game and held pryor to 20 some yards , so even though they are young ,these guys all played through out the 2008 season, ,this team always comes to play in big games, i still see usc winning by 14 or more points , pryor will not only have to run the whole game he might even need to pass to himself too, im going to get my 12 pack of import beer and some cheese and enjoy seeing ohio state get the dogsshitt kicked out of them, the only concern i have is choking on some food whlie laughing my asssss off..

mgoblue1,

I must disagree with what you've said. I believe the more accurate thing to say would be "all night" - since the game kick's off at 8 pm.
