If only he would have embraced Barwis' conditioning his fat knee may have held up...

Quick question about Boren. When players are released typically there are conditions attached to it (no teams on the schedule or in conference etc). How did we even allow Boren to be at oSU ?

His transfer was subject to NCAA rules, there is nothing that Michigan could do to prevent him from embarrassing himself and his father by transferring to tUOS. Big Stupid squandered a scholarship for transferring to another conference team and sat out a year. I'm guessing he ate a lot during that idle year, and given his dislike for conditioning, probably wasn't doing what he should, and could very well have suffered the knee injury as a result.

I don't believe that he can receives a scholarship, by rule. I think that he has to pay his own way and set out a year, but that is it.

I haven't really given Boren much thought - but, I do believe one of the reasons for his departure was - that Michigan wasn't going to offer a scholarship to his brother, and OSU was.
During the season after transfering that the player does not play - I believe he can be on scholarship - and, if he can't - I'm sure that Tressel & Co. found some kind of a grant for him so his family didn't incur any substantial financial costs for his education. What I find interesting is the value of a Michigan education vs. that of one from tUOS - I'm sure this will open a can of worms - but, I'm guessing that a year at tUOS as an "in state" student is going to be between $15K and $20K - perhaps less. The cost for a year as an "out of state" student at Michigan is at least twice that.
Again, I hope Boren's happy with his decision. And, an injury can occur to anyone. I do believe that Barwis and his staff do a better job than OSU's S&C program - but, that's just my opinion.

I thought I have read elsewhere where a coach releases a student on condition that he does not stay in conference.

Is this really your starting guard? Face it NUT, your team is not very good this year.
Proven in week one, hammered home in week two. And you gotta see it? Better get your son outta there quick before you break his heart!
