Good article in sports news today...team of the decade.
Comments from forum members?
They infer Florida may be just a flash in the pan. OSU's failings in big games clearly pointed out. OK with more wins than anyone. TX has a case.
Too bad no other B10 teams in the mix:cool:

I think you've got to mention Florida and USC. And, Texas and Oklahoma probably have an argument too. Hmmm.. that looks like the top four ranked programs this season...

What does that mean? Florida sucks? Do you have a link for the article? If Urban moves on, I will worry about the next HC appointment....no doubt. On the other hand, if Urban is being truthful about wanting to stay until his boy is at least out of high school, I think FL looks good for a few more years. Although, I won't deny, NorCal, that USC has been impressive over the last decade, and they will probably destroy your buckeyes again. I would mention, however, that USC plays in the PAC 10. I know USC is good, but how many other conferences in the country would allow a team to win 7 straight titles.

Gator,
What conference lets a team dominate for so long? Go check out the SEC in the 70s and you will see that Bama won eight titles in a nine year span.
Different thing for you Gator. I live down here in SEC land and I hear every day how great the conference is from top to bottom. All I hear is how great Bama is this year and that Tebow is the second coming. What is the spin for Ok St. taking it to the Dawgs? Me thinks the conference strength might be a tad over stated.
I am looking forward to the UT-UF game. I cant believe the Vols put 60+ on the board.

Check, that's a nice little fact there although my intention was to focus on more recent events (as in the team of the decade). I tend to think that a conference that gets dominated by a single team year after year is lopsided (certainly true of the SEC in 70's and even 90's). I also think it is a sign of poor competition if the champion of a conference always finishes undefeated. Further, if the champion team consistently performs poorly in its bowl games against the best teams from other conferences, then the conference is pretty weak (not really true of the SEC in a long time). When I think about a single team dominating a conference recently, I certainly don't think SEC. Look at the PAC10. How many times has OSU won the Big10 in the past decade? Or how many times has a team finished the Big10 schedule undefeated in the past decade? Since 1999, only one team has run the SEC schedule undefeated - that was the 2004 Auburn Tigers. I don't think anyone has repeated as SEC champs since the 1999 Volunteers. To me, that says parity and a damn tough league to win. I tell you what, I haven't looked this up, but I would be surprised if you can find me another BCS conference that has gone longer without a repeat champion or has had fewer teams go through its conference schedule undefeated this decade.
I don't need to make excuses for UGA losing to Ok St. - they played a Top 10 team and got beat. In the past two years UGA has beaten both Ok St. and Arizona St. (I believe they were both Top 25 teams at the time) early in the season. What's your excuse for the Big10's premier team (OSU) almost losing to Navy? What about OSU's performance against FL, LSU, and USC. Or how about UM (the Big10's other premier team) losing to App St or Toledo recently?
P.S. Are you seriously expecting UT to give UF a run for their money this year??? No way! Meyer is pissed and FL will dominate.

No, FL doesn't suck...it was on Rivals.com the day I made the original post.
Who do you pick as the best of the best was the theme of the article...OK most wins? OSU most appearances? FL/LSU two titles? USC? TX? Team of this decade? I ABSOLUTELY HATE TO SAY THIS BUT IF USC HAD MADE IT TO THE TITLE GAMES THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE THEY WOULD PROBABLY BE HANDS DOWN THE BEST. But they didn't, thank God, so I say it is a six way tie!
