This is from Michael Scholfield's Dad on Scout, now in giving this I'm stealing premium information, but I doubt Tom and the guys would care about it on this subject. If you read my last post, I can tell you it goes on at OSU and at OSU it was with the women's softball team. But in defense of OSU, I think they would say the samething this parent is saying about Michgian. There is to much at risk fro breaking the rules.

As a parent of a Michigan Player/Student I find the story in the Freep nothing but nonsense, misinformation, bush league journalism and an attempt to tarnish the great name of Michigan Football, in short it think it is nothing more than ********.

I have posted here long before this article came…and I give my permission to release any/all my post about Michigan football to the press.

As for the Freep, in a time of despair due to job loss, stock market struggling, gas prices high, job outlooks poor, we can rely on the Detroit Freep to attack America’s winningest College football program, East cost to West coast people love or hate Michigan Football, they are admired and or talked down about but always respected…..This being said, to publish information that is unsubstantiated is a poor/low down attempt to gain readers, viewers on a national level and raise the papers ratings at the expense of a great American football team, outstanding players, coaches and parents….

This news papers article is not only an attack on the program but the parenents and players, these kids are working hard….yes going to summer school, learning and getting acquainted to college life interacting with the community, fellow students in the dorms….

As a parent and as I have posted before, the Michigan Education was the most important thing to us, and during recruiting it was made extremely clear that Education before practice/football/games was the goal, the norm and no exceptions….

During the summer Michael spent more time studying going to class bonding with his freshman players and the other students in his dorm. Michael came home for visits, there were no signs of Barwis Police tracking him down…there were NO NCAA Violations, these kids played basketball, catch, and other sport activities with other college kids at the dorm, they went to visit sick children in the hospital and stopped by a summer camp for special needs kids…..where that in the Freep, that’s right that will not make national news…and is the truth…

I was joking with Michael in June when son Andrew came to a Michigan football camp,(JUNE 20) about Andrew being able to work with coach Frey in camp and learn new techniques and Michael who is going to be a player has not and will not get that chance until his camp starts in August…and this is True….

As I have stated in my posts this organization is all about competition, you compete for a position every day, some people cannot except this, they leave, or make comments, and even people outside the organization do not like this “the best player plays” concept and make up stories or comments. This is how rumors start….

Another thing, a poor reporter knows, when you go into a Media Day, and interview players you single out the freshman…they are 3 months out of High School have limited exposure to the media, so you ask them misleading questions . These kids are excited to be interviewed, and excited to put a positive look on Michigan and self serving reporters can get any kid to say what he wants by asking specific misleading information…

There is no practice prison where players are forced to workout hours a day, there are no coaches in disguises lurking the buildings watching players workout, there are no secrete passage where coaches meet players out of the public view….

I’m all in for Michigan…………GO BLUE

I guess that's all the proof we need - it must not of happened. I'm sure that letter will be enough to scare off the NCAA. One parents words against 6 former players. I expect more to come of this story.

Proof in this country is delegated to the accuser and not the accused. Again I say, good thing for democracy or else the Duke LaCross kids would be in prison falsley damned.

You guys like to rag on USC for their cheating - now your becoming just like them. Maybe we have had struggles at Ohio State in big games recently - but at least JT is running a clean program. :D

The USC issue is a totally different, and far more significant issue. The Reggie Bush incident involved money, promises, and if I am not mistaken, is actually IN COURT currently. Having guys participate in "informal" or "voluntary" captains' practices in no way even resembles the USC issue other than the fact that both concern college football -- to compare the two in seriousness requires the mind of a TROLL, like you. This is an unsubstantiated rumor.

How many times have you posted already on this issue -- 10 times? You're trying so hard to make something out of nothing. This is nothing more that a journalist trying to make a name for himself by muck raking in Ann Arbor, where there is no muck. RR is not a "cheater", any more than any other big time coach, who wants to win. Who knows, maybe the guy is an MSU grad and tried writing about MSU for the first few years and nobody read them. Maybe he's on JT's payroll...ALL programs are going to push the envelop of spending time with their players, and encouraging them to work out.

This is just being put out as a distraction before the season starts.

I don't know much about FREEP. I live in Ohio. But, from what I hear they are terrible. May be biased but whatever. Distraction is right, with go by the wayside if we pound out Western Michigan and ND(May or may not happen w/e).

Typical media practice. Exploit the naivety of an interviewee.

What Michigan is accused of happens at all big programs. Does the NCAA condone it, no but it occurs everywhere. It goes to the devisive nature of teh locker room and the Michigan media.

oSU & JT have far from a perfect record. It is a joke to infer otherwise. The NCAA turned a blinds eye with the Maurice situation. Buckeyes suffer from an inferiority complex which is why they relish anything negative about Michigan. How else do you explain the gold pants charm and the obsessive begaivior towards Michigan.

You guys can accuse Ohio State and others all you want - but it looks like Michigan is cheating. I think 6 different players speaks volumes. We will see what happens in the weeks to come. This is just what your school needs one week before the opener. If your team does not win in week one - it could be a long season.

I think 6 different players speaks volumes.

6 UNNAMED players who are being said to be corroborating ALLEGED violations.

I know you love to stir the hornets nest, but can you for once be objective and not so biased?

Someone else said it, the accusers have the burden of proof. But, as you'll probably see soon, the plaintiff isn't carrying that burden. We'll see what happens, but can't you see that this is just someone, like a WVU nut, trying to defame RR and distract the team? The allegations have been appropriately addressed by the University.

All programs run informal and voluntary practices. I think there is nothing wrong with having upperclassman run the practices and to look poorly upon a player that isn't willing to give it everything. You're on the team for four or five years, getting a free education, if you don't want to work, then don't expect your teammates to respect your team attitude. Further, I don't think that its a problem that those upperclassmen tell the coaches which guys work hard, which don't, and which players impressed him. Do you think that RR is going to hold a missed practice in the summer here or there against a player? Family reunion, graduation, injury, etc...doubt it. But a kid that doesn't want to put out for the team, with the team, is suspect.

You're basing your presumption on six players allegation; but, do those players know the elements of the rules? You obviously think that RR knows the rules, lest you'd not call him a cheater. So, which is more plausible:

1) That despite the fact that RR, the program, and the University remain focused on the NCAA regs., the players were forced to break the rules; or

2) some of those players weren't used to working so hard, some quit, some just got pushed down the depth cart, and they met up with a muck raking reporter?

The names of the players are coming out slowly and the school has opened up an investigation. This is a lot more then running practice a few minutes long. This could be serious charges if proven to be correct. The fun is just starting. I cannot wait to see how things blow up if you lose the opener.

He is a space cadet anyway. As I said in a previous post, Urban Meyer made his kids practice every DAY getting ready for the NC game in 2006. Florida made OSU look everything bad then: slow, stupid, fat, LAZY and .........UNPREPARED!
So, NUT, maybe Tressel NEEDS to break the rules here as every one ELSE DOES, so he does not come up looking so BAD in the big ones!
Our team gonna kick ass beyond anyone's wildest dreams this year, including OSU. You heard it here first, you will eat it later.
Unless you run away.

Ironhead,

Your on crack. Worry about beating Western. Meyer and Tressel work their kids out within the rules. RR cheats and still goes 3-9 - pathetic.
