Interesting article. I suspect we need a "football czar" to reign in coaches influence and salaries.

Very interesting read. I don't know for sure, but I would be surprised to find out that Urban Meyer leans to the left. I am about 70% confident that he is more conservative. I don't see how you can coach competition, competition, competition every single day (sounds a lot like capitalism) and then lean left, a side that is a little more "compassionate" and holding to entitlement. I think great coaches put their best players on the field, i.e., they use competition every day to determine their starters. I think the Pete Carroll situation is a paradox. He seems to follow a similar plan to Meyer - get your best players on the field. How do you uphold that philosophy every single day in practice and then support something else in the game of life? Then again, Carroll does live in LA.
Bottom line: I think head coaches, above any other profession, understand the benefit of daily competition. Hence, the significant leaning to the conservative side.
