Absolutely ridiculous, he should be suspended indefinitely. He tried to fight fans as well. Ron Artest all over again....

Wow, that kid would definitely have a place in the heart of Woody Hayes...

Blount must have been from my high school. There are tough players in that program. After they sacked the quarterback and laid him out, they'd go up into the stands and beat up his parents.

I guess I would be frustrated to if I ran the ball 8 times for -4 yards!

This thug should be banned from any further participation in any NCAA program of any type at any time. Inexcusable, unacceptable. Especially surprising coming from a clean program like Oregon's .

If you watched Oregon-Boise St. last night you'd realize that punch was Oregon's best offensive play of the game.

Agreed. To get your 1st first down halfway into the 3rd quarter is embarrassing.

He apologized for the punch but right after he did it you could tell he wasn't sorry for the sucker punch. It takes a real man to hit someone when they don't see it coming.

Sounds like a "Back to School" quote there. Ol' Rodney never gets old.

I agree....completely unacceptable. Did anyone ever figure out what the Boise St. guy said? Kind of curious because that punch was definitely in response to something (at least it looked that way).

ricky you are being too generous. if he played for tressel he'd be doting the "i" at the next home game.

What has Tressel ever done to you except beat you seven years in a row? Is that what this grudge is really all about?

Seriously though...kudos to the University of Oregon for doing the right thing. This kid deserves the season long suspension. The Boise State player should be penalized as well...maybe a game for taunting.

Oregon did the right thing. And, I do believe the Boise State player should get some "bench" time as a result of it as well.

I have always liked Chris Petersen. If you watched the video, Petersen went to the player, and was telling him to cool off (or something similar) just as the punch was thrown. Petersen can make a solid statement about his priorities with this situation. I think he's a very solid coach and expect some higher profile schools to go after him.

How about him coaching at OH-IO!

How would that work for you;)

NorCal,

I know very few Buckeye fans want a coaching change at OSU. And, I do believe that Tressel is a very good coach - no doubt about it. However, I think that Petersen is really tremendous - both on and off the field. Petersen's approach to team responsibility - accountability - and execution - well, they are all fantastic. He's a good leader and a very solid coach.

Now, if Petersen were to take over for Tressel - wow. Petersen with OSU recruiting. It would be very similar to what RR and Michigan are going to do. The challenge for Petersen, should this happen, is that RR is going to have a few years head start. The recruiting pipeline for Michigan is going to go bonkers. I'm not saying it's going to be USC "like" - but, I would be VERY surprised if future Michigan recruiting classes aren't either Top 5 or full of four and five star talent in positions that are needed.

To answer your question - as a Michigan fan - Petersen at OSU? It would be great for OSU. It would be great for the Big 10. It would make playing OSU even tougher. I've got great respect for the rivalry - and, I think that Petersen and RR would develop a tremendous rivalry - not too different from the ten year war.

USC game is going to be a referendum on Tressel this weekend. If Buckeyes get blown out again, in Columbus, he is in trouble. Alumni will be looking for his head. Petersen would be a great replacement.

NorCal,

Do you really think that the Alumni are going to be after JT if he - let's just say - loses by 17? Tressel's had success, and I'm wondering what you think a blow out would be? And, how soon do you think they'd be interested in making a change?

I agree about Petersen - he'd be great at any program. My guess, if Spurrier retires at the end of the year, South Carolina will definitely go after him. My question is - why would Petersen want South Carolina. I think he's destined for a mid to upper team in one of the BCS conferences. Heck, if Bielema doesn't turn things around - maybe Wisconsin goes after him, and the same could be said of Illinois in the Big 10.

Cooper had success too, even put him in the College Football Hall of Fame?

But they ran his ass out of town because he could not win the big games. I will say it again...anything less than a National Title is a busted season for those of us who grew up with Woody. You have to be top five, and beat top five, if you want job security at OSU. Anything less and you are an also-ran.
That is not good enough at OSU. We are supposed to be an elite program. The cream of the crop, the best of the best.

If it was up to me I would bring Myer home:cool:

Do you really think Meyer would move from Florida to OSU?
