Rumor are running around from some lame ass radio show out of Detroit that USC's band played "The Victors" after the game Saturday (as posted on the board at Mgoblog). Others are chiming in and confirming it. True or b.s.? Pretty ballsy and a little classless from where I'm standing.

I was there and that did not happen. In fact the USC band and coaches seemed amazed by the whole atmopshere in the Stadium - it was electric. The OSU and USC players were bouncing and dancing during the TV timeouts - that happen way to much. Before and during the game Carroll could be seen just looking around at the amazing crowd.
Think about it - if USC would of played "Victors" they would of been pelted or worse. The Buckeye fans were not happy after the game and it could of been an ugly scene. The Trojans only brought a small portion of their band anyway - my guess is about 30 members or so.
It's a cool rumor - but it's just that.

mmkay, this is a sad attempt at trying to save face for your boys.
carroll was only looking at the crowd thinking,
'i wonder if you added up the IQ of everyone in a red shirt, would it be as high as mine?'
-or-
'are there really enough trailers in the world to house all these people?'
-or-
'why would anyone bother to come to this blowout? well i better make sure it's close or i'll feel guilty about ruining their day'
-or-
'thank god it's a night game so they're all passed out drunk!'
and so on and so on...
i like how you say carroll was looking around the stadium like he's never seen anything like it even though he coached their in 1980 and has coached in many games that had a much more exciting environment. where do you think the fans were crazier; when Texas played SC for the national championship or at the second game of the year in september
finally, you realize that was your big chance right? that USC team didn't even look very good; the buckeyes just looked worse. 15 points? really? so now you average what, 23 per game?...

I have been to 20+ games at that stadium and I have never heard a crowd close to that. Even the broadcast team (Herbie included) said that the crowd was amazingly loud. Unless you were there you would not really understand the reaction of the USC team and coaches. If you would of seen the comments of the coaches and players then you would of seen where they said that they have never played in a stadium that loud - period.

Yes they were loud and yes USC did recognize that it was probably the loudest place many of them had played. But like Barkley said the noise didn't bother them and they just went in there with the attitude that it was them against the world. He said the only time the noise was a problem was during the snap count but that he yelled loud enough to be heard and that they went to a silent count. If they come in with arguably the weakest team they've had in at least 8 years, in your backyard, with your team playing the best they've ever played they still could not pull it off. How does it make you feel that our team is not quite elite?

I'm actually angry that we lost because the coaches lost it - not the players. I do however like the players that are being assembled in Columbus. In our last two big games - we lost. But we lost to a Texas team that many thought should of been in the NC game and a #3 ranked Tojan team. What did impress me and give me hope was that USC has had the #1 class in the nation for several years and the Buckeyes were just as big, just as fast and just and good as they were - and we are much younger. We had several true freshman playing as well so the future is bright - so long as the coaches get their heads out of their asses.

But again you could not come through with a win in your own stadium and a crowd that was at least 95% pro-Buckeye. This game featured a USC team that had several players out with injuries, a very vanilla offense and a 2nd game starting QB.
What do you think this team is going to do in a game in Florida or California in January against a team that is loaded and with about half of the crowd being against them?
