Miami (Florida) has moved quite a bit - and their move in the polls reflects what they've done on the field. Their next two games are against Virginia Tech and Oklahoma. What do you think their chances are of being 4-0 on October 4th?

Personally, I think their chances are good (better than 50/50) - and, if they are - the ACC is theirs to lose.

Miami looks very good! They've played a tough schedule so far beating 2 ranked teams (Florida State and Georgia Tech). I'm definitely impressed with what Randy Shannon has done to that program. He's seems like a great guy, good coach and fits well @ Miami. Good for the Hurricanes!

IMO, the Hurricanes should be ranked #1 if they win both of these games. No team has played remotely this tough a schedule...Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma.

This looks to be the "once every 4 years" that they compete for a MNC.

they would have a case, but rankings aren't based on who you beat. they're based on who the voters believe the best teams are. big wins obviously help their argument but it's going to be tough for anyone to jump an undefeated florida this season

I started a thread just like this the other day. Said I thought they had a decent chance of starting 4-0 and asked how high they should be ranked if they did. I said I would have to put them at #3. Don't think I can let anybody jump FL and Tex without them losing or several weeks of close calls to seriously inferior opponents.

As far as Shannon being a good guy, don't know about that but he does seem to be a good coach. I knew he was recruiting well, but wasn't sure how good of a coach he was. I just remember him whining about a FG that FL kicked against him last year with 23 secs on the clock. It made the game 23-3. It was 4th down and the clock was stopped. What did he want Urban to do give the ball back on downs? Would we ever tell basketball players to let the shot clock run out without taking a shot because the game is already won? Besides, it was the end of FL's second game and we still had not attempted a FG. Do you really begrudge a guy for seeing what he has for a FG kicker. Not to mention how he treated and talked about the kids that were "not his players."

It's like I always say. UM and FSU are never more than 2-3 years from serious NC contention with a good coach. Just too much talent in South Florida, and they all dream about playing for the U or the Seminoles.
