Hits the wrong running lanes. Check. Half-assed tackling. Check. Lousy in pass coverage. Check. Who would have thought Stevie Brown would be our best linebacker?

Obi bump tackles. Wrapping up is something you do in high school. Can't wait to get Marvin Robinson.

I can see that its going to take a couple of years good recruiting to overhaul the defense.

It's going to take time and with the injury to Boo Boo and Williams that hurts us too.

Boo Boo hurt?

I believe he got pulled after he got burnt in the 2nd quarter...

After watching Floyd, I would have to say that Boo Boo is still hurt. If he was just pulled, I would think that there would have been some switching between him and Floyd. Neither of the two have been even close to great.

I was saying the same thing during the game about Obi, he isn't any good. Mouton isn't good either. The D line can't get any pressure, I think Coach Rob should bliz more w/the safeties cause its not like they do anything in pass coverage. Overall, the defense is just a step slow...they also got caught in a bad play several times today. Don't get why they play so far off the receivers, I thought they were just doing it for the ND game. I did think Booboo was pulled becaue he can't cover anybody.

The defense can't stop anything, an offense can run whatever play(s) they want against the Wolverines' D and have success. This is still a growing team, and even with all that said to include all the mishaps on offense today, Michigan's strengths outweighs its weaknesses....damn good move to get Booboo out of there today.

agree 100%. blitz and play the corners up so they can get some turnovers. the IU QB threw it away EVERY TIME he had pressure. every time we gave him even 2 seconds there.. he found someone for a few yards.

when we sit back.. it usually take a dropped pass or outstanding coverage to get any pressure. send 5-6... send them early to at least make it seem like there's pressure.

im glad this was close today. they have to learn that they will NOT win without non-stop intensity. it was missing today. better not be next week or we will lose our first game.

How bout sparty though... 1-3!?!?!? i thought if dantonio and tebow had a baby, jesus would pop out!

I like Mouton but the biggest problem is that we are not able to get much pressure and that allows just about any qb to make good decisions and throws and make our db's look bad. We look alot better when we bring 5 or 6 guys after th qb on every play than three. Seemed like even with 7 or 8 in coverage we could do no damage so we might as well bring the heat. I hate seeing the 3 man rush. It reminds me of Lloyd and playing not to lose especially the Colorado game when we brought 3 and Kordel had all day to throw. Had we brought something in that game the recievers would not have had time to make it to the endzone before either Kordel had to run or got sacked.

Don't look now - the whole defense sucks. I guess Robinson was not the answer as the DC like many of you thought. The guys all look around for someone else to make the tackle, they arm tackle and they take horrible angles. You do understand you were playing a bad Indiana team - right ?

I think Robinson is still finding the chemistry. Look in the coming weeks for player movements. The defense is OUT OF SYNCH, but not OUT OF TALENT.
Granted, it is not a typical UM defense, but it soon will be. Just wait until the monster Cambell comes in at DT!

Yeah,Yeah - we heard the same thing last year and the year before under English. RR is not a defensive coach - he only cares about offense. How will Michigan stop the bigger more powerful teams that play ball control ? That offense can't hurt you if they are not on the field.

michigan quite possibly has worst defensive line in the big ten...I think most probably new that when the season started.

There isn't a lot you can do with a d-line like that. Everyone was fooling themselves if they thought the d woudl not be a problem..which is why I made a thread about that very subject last week.

Flex I agree MI has a huge issue on defense.

To get pressure they need to blitz, this puts them in Man to Man, and our corners cannot cover anyone. So teams Know they can push us around. This problem is going to have to be solved by schemes and coaching.

The good news is OSU has the worst throwing QB in the big ten;)

A team like OSU, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa will just pound out yards on the ground against that defense. All of them have big offensive lines. I don't care how many points you think your offense may score - if they are not on the field they cannot hurt you. I also think you offense is a lot less explosive against a good defense. You have yet to face one and Indiana gave you fits - what will the above teams do against your offense ?

Keep trying, LOL

It's called adjustments and good coaches make them, JT should try it sometime:p

Michigan is 4-0, btw what happen in the 4th qrt? Those big lines got tired on both sides;)

Not as tired as Illinois's did. The Buckeyes played outstanding defense today. Something you guys would know nothing about.

Exactly, I believe several of us pointed out before the season that the D line was the biggest area of concern and it still is.

To NUT, I wouldn't say the whole defense sucks. Graham, Martin, Roh and Brown to name a few are making some good plays. But they need help. Its not going to change much this year and with the D we have and have had our strategy has to be to try and outscore the opponent. I expect that this will change as time goes on but it'll take a few years of recruiting to do so.

You do understand you were playing a bad Indiana team - right ?

Was Indiana 3-0 before playing Michigan today? And, what was OSU's record prior to the game? Indiana did what they needed to do to win the first three - and so did Michigan. This team is young - we all know that. We know that GR is a first year DC with this team.

Tell me Nut - do you think it's possible that GR will do in his second season with the D what RR has done with the O?

Keep ragging on us - and, of course - please keep changing every thread in the Michigan section to something to do about OSU... Do you even know what a "thread" means?
