As the Cleveland Browns continue to fall apart leave it to Braylon Edwards to throw more gas on the fire. Once considered one of the leaders of the NEW Browns Edwards and Kellen Winslow are becoming more and more part of the problem - not part of the cure. Between Winslow crashing his motorcycle and his bitching about wanting a new contract now you have Edwards shooting off his mouth.

Some of you may have heard his comments today - some may have not. He is now claiming that the fans of Cleveland don't like him or support him because he is a former Wolverine. He goes on to say that he was asked the first day he was in Cleveland how it would be playing football in Buckeye country. His answer was - "It won't be a problem". Well now it seems to be. Last year when he was dropping balls he at least caught some TD's and had a positive effect on his teamates.

This year has been nothing short of a disaster. It all started when Edwards missed weeks of practice after cutting his foot while PLAYING around with another WR while his shoes were off. That was not the fault of Browns fans - it was his. Then the season starts and Braylon suffers drop after drop. The general feeling was that the drops were just rust from missing so much practice - that was not true. It has become his MO. He has dropped big balls this year - first downs and TD's. Last year the fans were nice enough for Braylon to join in on "Hang on Sloopy" - he even spelled O-H-I-O.

The Browns fans in most cases put aside their differences when it comes to which college a player went to. The attitude is that was college and this is pro. I'm a season ticket holder and while I will never own or wear a Edwards jersey - I cheer for him every Sunday. Untill today. Why is it that evrything has to be about the player ? Maybe in todays economic times its hard for a everyday Joe that struggles hard to keep the bills paid, the lights on and a roof over his familes to relate to another pro athlete bitching about such injustice. That same person in alot of cases is the same one that cannot afford to attend Browns games (or season tickets) - but does. He has a right to be angry when he sees professionals playing like crap and dropping easy passes week after week.

You learn more about a persons character when times are bad then when times are good. In the case of Edwards and Winslow its all about them - not the team. I would not care in the least if the Browns traded both of these trouble makers away for players that may have less talent but more class and heart. But untill that time do us a favor and just "Shut up and catch the ball".

I totally agree - if Braylon has a problem, he should just blow off steam in a more productive way, like Santana Holmes does buy smoking pot and punching his baby-mama in the face a few times.

What is wrong with pointing the blame where it belongs - on himself. Last year when he was having a pro bowl year the fans were ok. Now that the wheels have come off - it's the fans fault. You know the same fans that had to pay increased ticket prices to watch this garbage. He said that he does not care what the media or the fans think - he just wants to do his job. SO DO WE. His job is to catch the football when it's thrown to him. If he does HIS job the fans will cheer him, support him, like him and as a side note - the team might win !!!!

Just another spoiled ass athelete. Why does it seem that so many of the a-holes in football play the WR position. I will take Hines Ward (or Santonio Holmes) over this stiff any day of the week. All Ward does is play the game the way its supposed to be played. He talks on the field.

LOL A+

He is probably just discouraged, hell I would be if I had to play in that oversized garbage dump

seriously, how much of a whiny pussy bitch do you have to become before you finally man up and deal with life and football, which is obviously your sad pathetic worthless life. the browns blow donkey balls, players get pissed, run their mouths, shit happens, and you'd rather have a pot smoking abusive piece of shit receiver than one who can actually make a difference with a real QB, guess what nutsack, they have none, oh well pussy, get over it, fucking whiny bitch.

The balls he has dropped have hit him right in the hands. It would not matter if Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson, Peyton Manning or anybody else threw the ball to him - he cannot catch. He is overated and full of himself. We would gladly trade him Detroit for one of their WR's - Johnson maybe. Then he can play in front of fans that will kiss his ass because they are used to watching players drop balls and under acheive. Other Michigan players have played in Cleveland and it was never an issue.

He is not overrated at all he just has had too many drops this year, obviously its in his head. certainly a better high draft pick then ted ginn will ever be.

I've lived in Cleveland almost a decade, and know what the fans are like. Downtrodden, pessimistic, and nasty as hell. If you don't believe me, wear an opposing jersey walking across the Muni lot and see what nice things you hear.

They also turn on players on a dime. A guy has a bad year, and he is a piece of sh*t. Look at all of the talented coaches that have passed through here, been driven out of town, and then go on to do great things (does the name Bill Belichek ring a bell? Charlie Manuel?). If you are on top, you can do no wrong. You have a bad year, you're ducking beer bottles. So Braylon doesn't like it, he has the right to say he doesn't like it. Other Michigan players, like Aaron Shea for example, were midlevel, not high draft picks, and expectations were not high like with Edwards.

Do you think that Cleveland fans wouldn't abuse Michigan guys like Griese, Terrell, Perry, Woodley, etc., if they came in and didn't play well? Of course they would, and the most obvious jab is taking a shot at Michigan. For Gods sake, at Cavs games images of the Michigan M are shown on the scoreboard to elicit boos during foul shots by the opposing team. You people are mentally ill when it comes to sports, and then act surprised when a player like Edwards properly characterizes you. Hilarious!

Typical Michigan - making excuses. I guess Braylon did learn something at Michigan. Last year the very same fans were OK, because he was playing good and catching TD's. This year he has his head up his ass and can't catch a ball - so it has to be the fans fault. What an idiot.

Stroke of genius there.....Cleveland is the only town in which fans that wear the opposing jerseys get harassed. I think the fact that you live in Cleveland is the problem. You need to get out more. The Cleveland fans are some of the most easy to please fans in sports. All you have to do is show up and play hard. I'm not alone in saying that Kellen Winslow was one of the most hated players in Ohio while he was still in college. He became a Brown, crashed a motorcycle and still receives the biggest ovation when he is introduced at a Browns game. That's because he plays hurt and plays hard.

My biggest problem with Braylon is his alligator arms. He seems to have the most drops when going across the middle or when he has to jump and is about to hit the ground after the catch. I've seen him a couple of times drop the ball so that he can brace himself for the impact. Pathetic. I would say trade him, but since he seems to be miserable in Cleveland I say make him stay for another year.

Don't give me this Cleveland fans are nuts sh!t either. Does the Malice at the Palace ring a bell?

Obviously not many people here if any have been to a Giants Philly game. My father in law is a Giant season ticket holder and yes I do agree with what nut said in the beginning about players getting their money and then becoming nothing but a mouth that doesn't shut up. A perfect example was Shockey and now Burress. What a waste of talent. Not to mention the fact that he may have destroyed the Giants season by becoming a complete fuck up. But enough of that, when shockey dropped simple passes, we didn't boo him off the field and when hixon or boss drops passes you don't hear boos coming from the stands. We have a huge game this weekend against carolina. I will be there freezing my nuts off in the snow and hoping that Mario gets a couple plays in. Word has it that Toomer has taken him under his wing and is really developing well here. He could become a great player fill in for Burress. We all will see.

I don't think Browns fans would be so hard on Braylon if people thought he actually cared that he blows. My impression of Braylon is that he's a Me-First, pretty boy. Many of you aren't from Cleveland so a lot of things may have flown under the radar that involve #17. He was a long-term contract holdout, has gotten into screaming/pushing matches with teammates on the sidelines, called out a teammate for a clean hit on an opponent, was late for a team meeting because he (against coaches orders) charted a helicopter to the OSU/UM game in '06, injured and needed surgery on his foot while fucking around in training camp and now is calling out Browns fans with quotes like these:

"I've learned since being here that I'm very unappreciated. Not by the organization, just in the eyes of the fans and the city. Since Day One, I've been a marked man coming from Michigan. It's just gone that way."

"I'm not Paul Warfield, Webster Slaughter or Jim Brown. I've given my all to this city for four years, and I realize it will never be enough. I went to the Pro Bowl last year and resurrected this team from the darkness, and nobody cared."

"People in this town believe they are entitled to too much. They have been disrespectful to me and my family. I've gone out in public with my family and have had to deal with being called foul names. My parents have been called vulgar things at restaurants."
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner

90% of Browns fans are fine with him being from Um. Hell, many people in NE Ohio couldn't give a sh!t about the Buckeyes. They want the Browns to win, bottom-line. I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that fans in any market would embrace a guy that has done all of this. The fact that he went to Um isn't important. I think people use that as a way to attack Braylon, but even if he didn't go to Um they would be going after him for something else....maybe those embarrassing 5-Hour Energy commercials.

Winslow and Edwards are just two examples of a growing problem. This is happening all over the NFL, NBA and other organizations. We live in Cleveland and have to hear about where LeBron is going to be in two years as well. He has been great for the city, don't get me wrong. But I don't think I'm alone when I say I have a problem with him being on the Cowboys sideline or wearing a Yankees hat during the post season when they played the Indians.

Many of you are Lion fans - how do you guys feel about what you see on the field. You guys have a right to Boo more then Cleveland fans do. Are you the reason the team sucks ? Are you booing because of where a player went to college (most don't even know where a player went) ? No your Booing because of their performance on the field - nothing less, nothing more.

Seems to me that Chris Spielman played pretty hard and won over the fans of Detroit - and he is one of the all time great Buckeyes. Nobody hates Michigan more then Spielman but he won the fans over with heart and hard nosed football. He played for the name and logo of the team and not the name on the back of his jersey. If all players would just do that and act like a normal member of society of the field - they would never have any problems.

Yes, I live in Cleveland - but that's not the only place I've lived. I've been to sporting events in probably 25-30 cities, and Cleveland is right up near the top with classless fans. Whether they are easy to please or not isn't the issue. The fact is they will go absolutely crazy about a new player, like a Garcia or Dilfer, and then turn on him 5 minutes later if they don't win. Listen to talk radio around here, it is pathetic - the same idiots who praised Anderson as if he were a god last year want to chase him out of town for having a down season. Hell, they ran Bill Belichek out of town and talked sh*t about him for years until they realized he was probably the best coaching mind of his generation. They played "chicken" with Art Modell, he took his team elsewhere and won a Super Bowl. Cleveland fans deserve the futility they have.

I totally agree. Start a thread "Chris Spielman needs to shut the f up". He basically pissed away a lot of good will that he built up through his years as a Lion by running his marbly-mouth about Michigan over and over.

Be a pro, Chris, and announce the games objectively. There is a Lions Spielman jersey in my closet gathering dust, I refuse to wear it anymore (although being 0-14 may be a factor as well, haha...).

Come on RealSchool, Spielman was a very big part of those decent Detroit teams in the early 90s. He always came to play and did his job with a low-key, no nonsense, blue-collar work ethic. That is why a city like Detroit embraced him, along with Sanders, because they represented hard work, toughness, and HUMBLENESS.

No one could predict that he would squander it all with his so-called announcing career. Oh well, I guess we never really knew ya like we thought we did, Chris.

Man, that is going to be ugly. Fortunately, I don't even think a win in the Burgh can save Romeo's job which is exactly what I've been worried about. That aberration last year only prolonged his inevitable firing. Maybe Um has an eye on him for the D coordinator job?

Romeo as Michigan's DC? Forgive me as I vomit in my mouth...

What is Romeo, something like 0-5 or 0-7 against the Steelers? His record isn't going to improve this Sunday, that's for sure.

Is Cowher on the horizon?

There is going to be a lot of competition for Cowher's services, but one thing is for sure about Lerner: He's not shy about spending money. I just have to imagine there is going to be a lot of places more appealing than Cleveland to coach next year. As a Cleveland fan, I refuse to let myself get my hopes up. It really pisses me off that Crennel strung a few wins together last year and let that retard hang around another year.

Hopefully Cowher will want to finish his career where he started, but I don't know what established coach would want to get involved with this team. I don't think many people grasp how truly terrible the Browns are. They are years away from competing.

Maybe the Wolverines could pick up Marvin Lewis next year as DC? He has a superbowl ring as DC! He may be looking for a job next year but I don't blame him for the team's trouble. Mike Brown WILL NOT hire a GM or let the coach take over player personnel. Until he gives that up, the Bengals will stay the same.

When the Bengals re-signed Chris 'Predator' Henry, that was just a slap in the face to Lewis. He had enough of Henry and Brown went ahead and re-signed him anyway...I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals re-signed Odell Thurman, WHEN DOES IT STOP? WHEN DO THESE GUYS RUN OUT OF CHANCES?

I wish I could do what these guys do at my job, show up when I want, get in trouble and still have a million dollar a year income. It just amazes me! Lewis just has to be fed up and I don't blame him. 1 playoff berth in 20 years, you would think you would change your ways because the way you handle the team now and over the last 20 years ISN'T WORKING! Mike Brown won't change and neither will the Bengals...It really sucks!!!

I think it would be great if we could pick up one of these NFL coaches with DC background, but I think the more likely options for them are to stay in the NFL coaching carousel, or go to college as a head coach. I am sure many of them look at Pete Carrol and think that option ain't so bad. I doubt any of them would take a coordinator position in college.

yes, unfortunately for the good of his own career, lewis needs to leave the team.
