View Full Version : THE fake punt

I thought Mesko's fake was one of the worst calls in recent history as we only needed to move the ball inches for the first and we instead snapped it 10 yards back and had a punter run for it. I thought this call would of also made allot more sense maybe toward mid-field than it did next to our own end-zone.
Do you think that was RR's call or was Mesko given some free reign throughout the seaon to proceed as he did if he knew he could pick up the first? I just have a tough time believing RR would make such a chickensh$T call. Even though we hadn't ran the ball well I still have faith that Minor can get us a couple of inches when we need it and that we don't have to resort to trickery.

If it works it's one of the greatest calls, get over it and move on.

It wasn't called from the sideline. It's a decision Mesko made.

Well I guess he will have no power to make split descicions now. As far as "getting over it" forgive me for assuming this is a place to vent and analyze decisions in recent games, and I still think it's too risky of a call even if it works where as if Minor would of not got the first I would of agreed with the call.

If that is actually the case - so much for Michigan having smarter players then most. That was one of the biggest bonehead calls I have ever seen.

The option to run was made from the sideline, but Mesko chose to run over kicking it. From what I've heard, the call for the option happens quite a bit.

The option to run the ball is Mesko's on every rugby-style roll out punt. This is a time when he clearly made a poor decision. It's almost as if he pulled a "pryor" out there on that one.

Too bad Michigan doesn't have smart players like tUOS - you know, the type that tackle and injure their best player during a TD celebration in an NC game...
