Let's keep this thread bumped I think this is important. EVERY forum from the bodybuilding ones I go to to the political forums and other sports one's have at least one moderator.

The moderator...

The moderator would have to be someone who is on here a lot. This person can ban people, delete posts and delete threads.

This person no matter how die hard UM MUST be fair. As in ban all these fool UM fans that are just here to cuss out osu people.

You don't just ban people for a little flaming or flame bating. You ban people like some of the new comers that post "tressel sucks cock" twenty times in a thread etc. etc.

You can't be overly sensitive, we all like to get on each other about stuff and make fun of each other so don't go banning people for writing "tate sucks" or pryor is an ass or for posting some funny pictures.

People woudl also be able to report posts to the moderator to review.





A moderator would clean this place right up. And it can be done in an unbiased manner. I honestly think this is the one thing missing from this site that could help a ton. What you all think?

Agreed. The fellatio related insults almost turned me away. They are so vile, infantile, and trashy. A lot of people reading some of that garbage have to be leaving...fast. Especially any women. They don't want to see vomit like that.

I'm all for freedom of speech - but it has it's limits. There are some posts that really get me angry and I regret them after I post them. I try to think about who might be reading them (as in a child) when I enter it. Then you have BBA who is a non-stop profanity machine. It's guys like him and a few others that makes me happy as hell that Michigan is in the state it's in as a program. I was just asked again today if I wanted to attend the game in AA this year. The guy I work with is die hard mazie & blue. He has 45 yard line, lower level, Michigan sideline seats - 15 rows or so from the field. I would love to attend the game - but it's fans like BBA that make me want to stay home. I would wear my Buckeye gear and be respectful to the people around me - but that is not good enough anymore. I see how some Buckeye and Browns fans treat visitors - and I would end up in jail if attacked or provoked.

If all your going to do is just make gross sexual comments after every post somebody makes - go away. Maybe there is a gay poster on here (like Ricky or Run the Ball) that would find your post horribly offensive. How many times are you going to make reference to Tressel's privates in an attempt to be funny - it's pretty clear nobody likes it. I agree...honestly you'd have my vote I think you'd be a good mod. There's no need on either end whether you are an osu fan or UM fan. Personally I think there should be 2 mods and there are more than a few good candidates here. Then with 2 mods if they disagree on something they could refer it to editor who would be the deciding voice.

More than anything I would like some mods here so they can sticky certain threads like the preseason prediction threads, the weekly game threads, etc.

The situation of this site now seems oddly familiar to UM's season last year. We need a moderator as bad as UM needed a QB....then things will start gelling. Hailvictors is still green and rebuilding.:D

I think it got blown out of control a bit---no matter who is to blame. Sometimes I think words(not talking in person)----like writing, texting, and online forums.. sometimes tend to be much more dramatic than it was meant to be(definitely quick one-liners). Are people really jumping ship? So what if someone says we may be 6-6 after seeing the last two losses we had. That's their opinion. Most of us are here for Michigan football. Just chill out with the disrespect between fans.

If this forum had an annual "get together", it's not like people are gonna be sobbing in there beer over a loss, or pulling out a gun. A "get together" would be real time---no sitting there for 15 minutes reading the same post or two...thinking about what you are going to say, letting your imagination run away with you. I'm not gonna accuse anyone of doing that, who cares. No one is perfect. I appreciate this forum, but occasionally I find stuff I don't want to read or hear---I'm sure everyone has felt that way. I'm not sure if a "get together" would be as bad as what it would seem---just saying. I mean, do we really hate each other? How would we act in the "real world"?

I guess it's like being in the same room with people---sooner or later, you're gonna let it all out(or try and get away for awhile). Then "usually" things get back to normal again---except for the few people that may actually "pull out a knife" or something like that.

that's the problem I'm not talking about banning free speech. Every board has mods. It's kind of like how a city has cops it is just to keep things in line not to hold back your rights.

The purpose of the moderator is not to ban posts because they say "UM sucks" or "OSU sucks". The purpose of a moderator is to make sure threads that start off as "why is tate struggling" don't end with 3 pages of "you suck tressels penor".

Most moderators hardly ban people and hardly close threads. It should NOT be common. This isn't some novel or outrageous ideas guys...EVERY board has mods that work the boards.

I kind of view a site moderator like I view government - the less control, the better. I like to keep tabs on teams' sites around the country, but I spend the most time here (and have only ever posted on an outside team's forum here) because this site is a gem in the forum world - anything goes. Many sites are so strict that common good-hearted banter is never allowed by outsiders. I know an FSU site that bans people for even mentioning the Gators (although I never did it). Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

I don't know exactly how most of you have felt about my presence on this site over the past couple years, but I like to think I add something of relevance to the conversation and that I add something more than, "You suck, your team sucks, your coach sucks, etc. etc."

As far as threads getting off topic, I think some of the best threads I have ever been a part of have diverged from the original topic (sometimes by a lot) as the conversation evolved. However, I confess that I don't like the threads that get off topic in the following manner:

Poster 1 - "What did you think of the D last night?"

Poster 2 - "F' you. Quit sucking tressy's wanker. He sucks. TP sucks."

Poster 1 - "Yeah well, RR is a F'in douchebag money gruber, etc., etc."

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if the site must get a moderator, I hope that the only violations are 1) when a thread gets off topic primarily as a result of insults and name calling and 2) an extreme use of profanity (I don't think anyone enjoys or is better for reading a sentence that uses pussy, douche, fuck, or variations thereof five times).

At anyrate, I'm just an outsider and this is a Michigan fans' site. I'll keep coming as long as it is interesting and I am allowed. I just hope this moderator thing proceeds with caution.

P.S. I know NUT is here a lot (and I might even give him my vote), but how would you ever live with yourselves as UM fans if you let a Buckeye moderate your board? Especially, when the person who most frequently hears, "Eat shit and die!" is NUT himself. It's not for me to say, but that would be the craziest thing I have ever heard.

I would do it, I wouldn't be bias since I'm not a Michigan or OSU fan.

I think it would be ok if editor would take a more active role in the site. I really would like to see some of the big topics stickied for instance. Free speech is a nice concept but even in the real world it is limited. Not much doesn't go here other than copying and pasting entire articles.

I've got news for you. On a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being very welcoming and 10 being getting an empty beer bottle slammed upside your head, UM visitors experience about a 3 at the games compared to OSU visitors experiencing a 9 or 10. You would have no issue if you went to a game in Ann Arbor. Buckeye fans are lunatic a-holes. Not only that but "THEY" are the ones that come to Ann Arbor and treat UM fans like a 9 or 10. Their sense of entitlement and obnoxiousness knows no bounds.

P.S. So what are the new rules? Don't see anything really outlined. The only thing I have gathered so far is don't denegrate Michigan. Gentlemen...I have been gone for a few days and I can honestly say, I am SHOCKED that Hail Victors has not only called for a moderator, but the moderator is actually sending out warnings for foul language?? Flex is right, most other message boards do have moderators, but absolutely NONE of the boards I am on, which incidentally are mostly parenting and real estate message boards (I know, super exciting, right?), have a moderator for foul language or even lame/moderate trolling. You think this board is bad? You should see a group of women throw down on a message board when some stay-at-home mom has the balls to bad mouth a working mother. Hell hath no fury, my friends. I swear to you, this board is tame in comparison. I'd hazard a guess that Hail Victors is 98% male, and what do males do when they talk about football? They give each other shit. And rightfully so! If an OSU fan comes here to trash Michigan, he deserves to get his ass handed to him. Respectfully, but albeit forcefully.

If the moderator is the way to go, then fine. I like Hail Victors enough to stay, but may I make a suggestion? Ease up on being the foul language police. If someone goes batshit insane on another poster, hijacking a thread, and doing so solely for the purpose of trashing the other, then sure, I can see a moderator stepping in. But, those cases should be rare. VI is an absolute tool, but his "infractions" don't seem bad enough to warrant two warnings.

Of course, I haven't been here as long as most, so obviously my opinion is tainted by that fact. Like I said, I'll abide by the rules, but I just wanted to state my POV first.

Youtube makes this site look angelic. For a site like this, it's actually held up pretty good without a mod-----and I think it still would. That's something I feel most sites can't say a whole lot about. Besides a few foul language and off topic posts---this site---due to the members, have held it together pretty well. Thankfully, we don't get the usual "youtube posters", for the most part. That says a lot about a site with several opinions about different subjects(mostly related)
