Forcier just said on the radio that the coaches always knew that Beaver might decommit. I hope this also means that they have been recruiting elsewhere. Either that, or they plan to bring in Forcier as the featured QB this year, which keeps the door open to get Gardner next year, which would be huge.

I don't think it is all that big of a deal that Beaver decommitted. Sure it would have been nice to get 2 top-rated QB recruits in this class but how many programs actually get 2 in any given year? I would think it will be in RR's plans to try to get one highly rated dual threat QB in each year's recruiting class simply to keep the pipeline full. Go for Gardner in 2010. Plus it would be nice to get the state's top QB recruit that year.

In hindsight no, but all the behind-the-scenes action really comes up after the decommit. No on really knows what is going on (Rivals and Scouts included) except the player and the coaches. I for one refuse to be surprised anymore by what an 18 year old thinks. No drama till the fat lad...er, kid signs a letter of intent.

I haven't heard that, but what I did hear was that the coaches were always skeptical that they could bring in two highly rated recruits. Seems like adding a qb/athlete is more feasible.
And you are right. Keeping one QB this class will open up a spot for a QB next class.

Beaver is not ready for prime-time - to decommit and then choose a Conference USA school? Really?
If he would have chose Texas or OK, that makes sense, but he will basically compete in obscurity at Tulsa - home cooking > college career.

Stinky, smelly, dirty beaver. Never trust anything that bleeds for a week and doesn't die.

to be honest I never could really picture the name Beaver across the back of a U-M jersey...Im serious...not trying to poke fun at what Im sure wouldve been the butt of many jokes (his name being Beaver)...I simply couldnt picture his name on the jersey or being called by the announcers...why I dont know...but what does it matter I guess...I remember thinking Pryor would look sweet on a U-M jersey at one time

As an aside, I don't want to hear anymore about RR's "snake oil" and "wizard hat" bullsh*t. He has had his fair share of recruits poached by other coaches - if you don't think that HC from Tulsa wasn't working Beaver and his family you're in denial...
