Thoughts, forecasts, predictions about how your game against the Fighting Illini is going to go?
This should be the perfect opportunity to regain some confidence after the Penn State debacle. Almost a must win game actually. A loss here would fan the flames really high for a coaching change.;)

UM in a squeaker. Only if the weather is warm and sunny. Cold weather and tate won't operate (Hey, that rhymes!) then Illinois in a squeaker.

Tough tough prediction. It all depends on team morale after the past few weeks.
I take UM 27 Ill. 17

I agree its a very tough call because Illinois always plays us tough. Still gotta be a homer....

I want to pick Michigan, but I have this weird sense that Illinois has to rise up once or twice this season and perform like many of the pre-season prognosticators predicted they would this year. If not against one of the weakest Defenses in the conference, then when?
Illinois: 56
UM: 7 (on a defensive score)

...it could be a shootout, but I think Michigan will be shooting blanks.

Yeah, it's been one hell of a cap-gun fight around here over the last couple of days.
But it's been fun. :D

Juice Williams will be amp'd for this one. UM will be working out the road kinks. I call a tie 15-15.

BTN analysts see it the same way...this game is their upset pick of the week.;)

Funny just a few weeks ago people were saying how Illinois is by far the worst team in the Big Ten - now your on the fence about if you can beat them ? Wow have expectations dropped in a few weeks.

BTN analysts also picked Wisconsin over tUOS as their upset of the week.

Maybe you should be less concerned about the expectations of Michigan and more about those of tUOS after losing to a horrible 1-5 Purdue. Take it out on Minnesota and New Mexico St and kid yourself into thinking that you are back on track before losing badly to Iowa and Penn St.

CWebb,
Time for a timeout.... Your insight is beyond words. There is such a thing called OVERTIME in college football. And, unlike the NFL version - college football games are not longer permitted to end in a tie.

I never said Ohio State was back - in fact I said they still have a way to go and that the Minnesota game dd not prove a thing. I do however think that they will beat Iowa and Michigan this year.
I was just making a comment about how when Ohio State shut out Illinois - it was viewed as Ohio State beating the worst team in the Big Ten. Many of you said we should of beat them because they were horrible. Well now it's time for Michigan to show us how horrible they are. It should be an easy game for you guys since many of you think your going to beat Ohio State this year. If we could handle them with ease (shutout) then surely the Wolverines who are led by the greatest offensive mind ever to coach college football should do the same. Why are we even having this conversation ? Illinois sucks - remember.

This cupcake slaying did prove a lot to NorCal - after beating Minnesota, he giddily claimed it was a "great day to be a Buckeye". And I'm sure he'll be prancing around and slinging emoticons left and right after tUOS beats New Mexico Community College tomorrow. My, how the mighty have fallen....

See that same post and see what I wrote. Many of you said that Michigan would be clicking on all cylinders at this point in the season - how is that going. What do you think the result of the Illinois game will be - could Michigan honestly lose this game ? That would be pathetic.

Nut,
A loss to Illinois would be terrible - and, pathetic is not a bad word either. There's something between Illinois and Michigan that must go back to the days of the Galloping Ghost - Red Grange. I live in Illinois and have been to many Illinois - Michigan games, and though most Michigan fans identify MSU, ND, and OSU as the main rivals - I don't know if Illinois is more focused on any game of the season more than the Michigan game.
Juice just happened to have the game of his career against us last year. He hasn't been playing up to expectations - and the Illini have been hit by injuries as well. We'll see what the game plan looks like - and how determined / focused Illinois is when they take the field.
Injuries have hampered Michigan this season - and, the loss of Molk can't be overstated. Molk was the leader of the O line. We're a young team, the fans know this. And, as a young team we can execute extremely well - as was demonstrated earlier this year - or we can execute poorly - as was demonstrated last Saturday.
We'll know tomorrow what happens. One play, one series, one quarter, and one game at a time. I'm hopeful and confident that the team gets it back on track.
Go Blue...

You didn't get it, MM. What made it a great day was seeing the Pied Piper getting exposed. My glee was similar to the post you guys made in the OSU section after the Purdue debacle.

UM should beat Illinois as the Illini are horrible this year. But with that said if you look at the B10 standings we're only sitting 1 spot ahead of them. But one could read our B10 standing 2 ways....either we're horrible and one of the 3 worst teams in conference or the 3 teams we've lost to are in the top 4 of the conference thus explaining why we are where we are.

Yeah, I guess since Purdue and Penn St both start with a "P", they are similar programs and losing to Purdue is exactly the same as losing to Penn St?
You obviously love any Michigan loss - I also enjoy watching tUOS lose, but I'm not delusional. Watching tUOS lose to USC is understandable, but my God, losing to Purdue?
I'll take my program getting "exposed" by a 7-1, ranked Penn St picked to win the conference over getting exposed by a 1-5 bottom-dwelling Purdue any f*cking day, and so would you!

I would have to agree - losing to Purdue is horrible. But losing to App.State and Toledo is far worse. I would rather lose to Purdue then bottom dwelling Toledo any F*cking day, and so would you !
Let's see how you do with bottom dwelling Illinois Saturday.

I was actually impressed with the defense on more than just a few series' last week. They gave up some big plays but I really thought they gave the offense a chance quite a few times and we know how that went.
I think Michigan gets back to form on offense regardless of weather and smashes Illinois today. The only thing Im worried about is Tates shoulder. He was said to be at 100% last week and I saw him plain as day holding his arm in a manner which he looked to be experiencing considerable pain.

Thats easy to say "...but losing to App St...is far worse". Of course it is when you just look at it on the surface. Id be willing to bet that that years App St team would give this years osu team some REAL problems. They may not win but it would be eye opening.
Id be a little more worried about osu if I were you. No regime change, no real change in your offense, top 10 recruiting classes...and you are still garbage.
My analysis is that (aside from the investigation) Michigan is on the rise...osu appears to headed into the late Lloyd Carr years...underacheiving with no real excuse.

Wow. Michigan really sucks. Rich Rod's lucky they squeaked out their wins against ND and IU or they'd be looking at a second consecutive losing season. I predict they will lose out. Worst team in the big ten....Indiana really beat them IMO. :D:
