Something else to talk about. This should be a great year for them, Harris and should be their spectacular selves, and the contributing underclassmen from last year should be much better, notwithstanding they did pretty well last year too.

What are your expectations this year? How far can they go? I think making the NCAA should be a given, and making it at least into the sweet 16. They almost did last year.

I love it. Last year's team was just like this year's football team in so many ways. In Beilein's second year, the team became much improved, but there were still up and downs during the season. Overall, the season was a big success and Michigan basketball is back. I really think this will be just like the football program. The team this year is much improved, but there are still the bumps, like what we are currently going through. I think overall we will look back at this year's football season the same way we look back at last year's basketball season.

Anyways, the sky is the limit for this team. They went through all of last season without much size, and they were still successful. Now that they have size, it can only get better. The can play with anyone in the Big Ten, and the only game they are really overmatched is Kansas. I am so excited for this season. Go Blue!

I was actually just talking about UM baskeball with one of my friends, he's a UM fan, and we're both expecting a better year from Michigan basketball. Didn't you finish 7th or so in conference last season? I think they'll finish higher than that this year, probably 4th or 5th behind MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin/Minnesota.

And Kansas is beatable, MSU beat them twice last year and they're mostly the same team again.

i think it will end up
1. MSU
2. Purdue
3. Michigan/Minnesota
4. Minnesota/Michigan
5. Ohio St.
6. Illinois
7-11. who cares

yea unfortunately i don't see M finishing a whole lot higher
than fourth or fifth. the big 10 is such a deep and talented
conference in basketball this season. Don't forget Ohio State
is always pretty good and they had a strong recruiting class.

Penn State played pretty well last season as well and they
have some talented, young players.

should be a great season!

Yeah, I guess I wasn't really thinking when I put Wisconsin at 4th. I'm just used to them performing a little better than they have been recently. Looking at them again, they'll probably finish in the middle of the pack. It'll be a pretty heated for the top spots this year though. Most teams return most of their players too.

Perhaps this will be the year were we actually win the ACC/Big 10 Challenge!

I think we finish somewhere between 3rd and 5th in conference.

yes, i agree. i think that top top bottom the Big 10 has the strongest conference in the country and we play defense in our league unlike the big east. i will never count out a bo ryan coached team, but i don't think they will be up there in the standings come february/march. we for sure need to win the big 10/ACC challenge im sick as hell losing that every single year. and idk how ohio st. continues to get these 5* recruits but matta does.

You will finish where you belong - behind the Buckeyes.

Better yet since they love to ask in football....

how many basketball championships have they won in the past 50 years?

True - but we don't claim to be the best or elite in basketball. We are trying to get there and have had some good seasons - but we are not a powerhouse. Michigan football on the other hand still thinks they are important and elite - when they are nothing close to being that.

While I think most of us will claim UM is still important in football I don't think anyone will claim we are still elite. Like it or not UM still matters.

As for basketball both programs are still trying to become contenders. Both have strengths and weaknesses. UM has went down the road that OSU is on in building its program and we are just now recovering from that road. Going after top recruits will end up biting you unless you are a top program like a UNC as you have to play the political game that the people handling these recruits play. For example check USC and OJ Mayo, what happened there is not isolated.

Take that sh!t over to the football board, hard to stay on topic isn't it?

Back to BBall, did anyone attend Michigan Madness?
