Did RR not think JT would have film of what we did with DRob all season?
I thought those plays where everyone knew he was running it were horrible coaching decisions.

He seems to love the screen pass too.

Those calls made me want to vomit. I was at the game, and Denard got booed every time he played late in the game. I'll bet RR told Tate "Alright Tate, Denard got us to 3rd and 8. Time to go in and throw a do or die pass."

I dont get it either, when DRob is in there, they run the same damn play!! On 1st down, he gaines 5 yards to make it 2nd and 5....and then they run the same exact play, but to the other side and he loses 2 yards to make it 3rd and long.
You can't tell me that Rich couldn't teach this kid the read option so that he atleast has the option to hand it off or run it??? The only play you could teach him was to take the shot gun snap and run strait into the defense?? I thought Rich's spread option included the "read option" like Oregon runs. Why didnt we see any of that this year?? Tressel I think is finally getting the picture with Pryor and running the read option, he did it a few times and totally faked our D out.

Denard is so quick I'd love to see him play slot reciever. I think RR was worried about him getting hurt. He can't thow that well, but put him in the slot, in some space, throw him that screen pass RR seems to like so much. If he gets one good block, or makes one guy miss, he scores 6 points. Maybe with Gardner next year RR won't have to worry so much about DR getting injured.

You must not have been the same games I was watching. Michigan ran a ton of read option plays its just that it wasnt executed very well and on countless occasions Forcier made the wrong read.
As for Denard, if it hadnt been for the pass interference that wasnt called he could have had a big reception at WR early in the game. He ran a decent route and was in position to catch the ball but he got mugged

I liked seeing DRob on the outside trying to get the deep ball. Had Forcier not under thrown him, that could have been a TD. Also, I wasn't too sure that that play wasn't pass interference as well. I think DRob could have sold the penalty a little better. I really hope we see Denard in the slot or outside next year. QB depth may not be great, but I hope they prepare Denard at WR.

It's really can only be a read option if the QB takes it every once in a while. We must suck at it then, because I swear Tate handed the ball off every time. Shit, even a dumbass like Pryor was able to run the read option effectively.

Did RR think that we were not going to think on the final drive that Robinson would try a pass. If that is the case he must really underestimate JT. DR ran weakly a few times - same play every time. Then he threw a weak screen and sideline pass. Pretty much what he has done all year - nothing special.
I really thought that RR would come up with a few trick plays to surprise of throw off Ohio State. He did not look like an offensive guru yesterday.

With that speed, that athleticism, you must use it. Slot receiver, Deion Sanders corner, kick return, punt coverage, anything.. but not sitting on a bench. Thats an unused weapon!

He will be, just be patient. As RR said in a presser, if you learn to play QB, you can then play every other position on the field. But if you take a true freshmen who is trying to learn to play QB (and is the backup), and try to get him to learn all these other positions, too soon, his development is going to suffer.
When he's a junior, he's going to be all over the field, maybe even on defense, but for sure on special teams. I just wish he could have been redshirted.

I think that D Rob came to Michigan because he was told that the QB spot would be an open competition and he'd have a shot at that position. I also believe that if he wants to improve his professional stock he'll quickly realize that he'd be better in another role a la Chicago's Devon Hester. He's a tremendous athlete and the more he's on the field the better.

I think MI should run the wildcat next year. V.smith coming accross and DR taking the snaps, LOL

At least they finally used both QBs on the same drives, drove me nuts that RR wouldn't do that in some other big games.
As for DRob, I'm all for continuing to develop him as a QB. I'd like to see if he can get a grasp of running the read option this spring and look a bit more fluid when throwing the ball. We've got plenty of talented young slot WRs already.
The way the wheels (and throwing arm) fell off of Forcier late in the season I think it's still wise to keep him and DRob pushing each other.
IMO DRob still has potential to be a good QB even though the training wheels weren't really taken off of him this year.

I agree. The kid's got a freaking cannon for an arm and is like a fireplug when he runs. He put his shoulder down and ran through some OSU secondary guys last week. I was impressed.
He hasn't been given nearly the opportunity that TF has. His one major shot was when they threw him in at the end of the Iowa game. "Save us." RR said. And Drob looked down and whispered "No." He launched that blooper of a ball into a sea of black jerseys.
From then on it was Drob up the middle...
I really hope he develops and reaches his full potental. He's a gamer.
