I was listening to an interview with Devin Gardner and he indicated he was not firm at all on his decision and needs to take the next few months to make some "tough" decisions. The reporter asked him how much of his committment to Michigan is riding on whether or not Rodriguez is there, he said "I'm not committed to Michigan so I don't even know about that, we'll just have to see"
This guy is going south to Florida to compete for starting QB after Tebow leaves. Who wouldn't want to play for the hottest team in college football right now. Michigan is screwed and totally lost this committment with their play this year. I hope Tate ages 5 years and gains 5 inches and 45 pounds or next year we are at best 6-6.
Can't say I blame Gardner. After going 1-7 and finishing DEAD LAST in a crappy conference, Michigan Football just isn't what it used to be. I'd get used to 2-3 star recruits for the next few years unless we can bring in an icon that kids want to play for.

Dont know where you heard this interview but your going to have to excuse me because I dont believe you. Gardner has been asked a zillion times about his commitment to UM and he has said a zillion times that he is and will be committed to Michigan. Gardner is a Wolverine bud, its not written in stone yet but you can set your watch to it.

C'mon, are you serious? Where was this alleged interview you heard? On the radio? TV? Internet? Got a link you'd like to provide?

I know this is not what you want to hear but I am just sharing what I heard come out of his mouth on an interview over the radio. I will see if I can find some supporting documentation. I didn't want to believe it either.

If true this would be all over the premium sites and its not. Every interview I read, even recent is that he is SOLID BLUE. Was this interview from today? What station did you hear it?

This has got TP disaster written all over it again! DG knows he can go to Florida and compete right away with a stable program. He knows that RR will have to go with experience in Tate next year with the pressure to win. Yes DG will be able to compete with Tate and will have a chance but I just don't see RR starting another True Freshman and risk season 3 as being up and down again. Urban will be able to sell his program better then what RR is going to beable to do.
I am going to support RR but this will be the type of problems that will start to rise again in the off season. It's hard to build a program that is unstable with losing, investigations and a majority fan base that wants RR out why wouldn't kids take a second look? I hope RR can work some magic!

I said this months ago - and you all said I was crazy. Teams are going to come strong after Michigan's top kids and use the current record and on field play against them. Recruiting is a down dirty business. I expect many teams to go after him - maybe even the Buckeyes. Untill these kids sign - they are fair game and verbal is just that, verbal.

If Gardner decides to go elsewhere, so be it. It will be a serious blow to Michigan, but then again, he's only one player, and although QB is the most important position, his decision isn't the end of the world.
Actually, I think the biggest issue at play here is the use of DRob next season. I was hoping that Gardner could step in and be a solid back up to Tate, and that would free up DRob to do other things, and to be used in a Percy Harvin manner. If Gardner decides against Michigan, that will most likely keep DRob as QB. He might see more time at other positions, but there won't be another back up that isn't a true freshmen.
I am torn, I want to say it doesn't matter, but then again, I am tired of all the disappointment. That's what I get for setting my expectations though, right?
It'll all work out in the end, one way or another.

If you ever saw him play in person - you would say "It does matter".
Not to mention he is home grown. If you cannot keep the best dual threat QB in state with RR running the spread - then when will you keep your home town talent. This kid needs to be at Michigan. There are going to be some openings at some very good programs next year - time will tell. I think he bounces out of Michigan. I think he sees how little help Tate has - and pictures himself in the same situation. Now he has second thoughts.

again we are talking about something that doesnt even matter because Gardner isnt going anywhere. He is still a Michigan commit and that wont change

I hope you're right Mike, I really do.
I might just have to go to Thailand and sit on the beach this entire off-season, shut the internet off, and come back in the spring -- this is getting more and more painful.

RR is good recruiter he will put in the necessary time to sign him. RR knows better than anyone how important teh right QB is for his system.
Meyer is everywhere though. I just read he went into Pete Carroll's backyard and snagged a top recruit from USC.
I still beleive RR will sign him in the end.

Michigan = rebuilding slowly
Florida = nations best program - QB opening
I would be worried untill I see this kid sign.

I'm the same way with Buckeye recruits. Untill the kid signs - I worry. We have one hell of a RB coming in next year - we need him. I also want Jordan Hicks. Granted it's easier to recruit when your winning like we are - but I still worry.
This is HUGE for Michigan because he is a Michigan kid that Michigan needs - and he happens to play the most important position the field. He is a player RR has to have to suceed. Tate is to small to run like RR would like him to - Gardner would fix that problem. If this rumor is true - it's big time news.

Truthfully, and like the analysts on ESPN were saying, Michigan has been 3 yards and a clowd of dust style for 40 years. It takes more than two years that RR has had to get the speed players to run a fast new offense and time to get them experience. The recruits are saying time and again that they see it as an opportunity to play early. We have not lost one recruit this year and will not lose Gardner. I don't know where this rumor came from. It is nowhere to be found online ANYWHERE. In fact here is an article to the contrary http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/messages/chrono/18116947

I pray we don't lose DG, but I will bet anyone that we do lose him! Year 2 of the RR era has given no proof that this program is headed in the right direction for these recruits to buy into. Sure your 2 and 3 star players will see oppurtunity in coming to Michigan but your 4 and 5 star players are not looking for rebuilding and unstability! And with speculation of RR maybe being gone after year 3 if the program does not bounce back hard, Then why in the hell would a QB like DG want to go through that. Urban Meyer isn't going anywhere and there is major oppurtunity for DG at Florida.

I'd take that bet too! Speculation is on the forums, not in the real Blue world. RR wins, then he is a hero and all the doubters go underground again like they did for the first 4 games.

Also nothing on rivals, espn, or scout.....this didn't happen.
I heard TP say "I like florida, there's a QB spot open I'm open to transferring there"....you see I can make up quotes to.

i havent not heard anything about gardner going to florida. as far as playing right away at florida not gonna happen. john brantley is a soph who was the gatorade natl player of the year a few years ago. he will start the next 2 years. so devin can either step in right away at mich (which he loves) or sit n wait at florida where they will bring in other potential superstars every year. its a done deal in my mind that he is going to the big house.

You have have to think that a story this big would be mentioned somewhere. The ESPNU recruiting show would be all over it - and so would the Free Press. I think he said something like he is going to take other visits - not that he was leaving. Would I worry about a trip to Florida - hell yes. When Mr.Meyer has Tebow show him around and says stuff like the keys could be yours - that's big time stuff. It fills a kids head full of Heisman thoughts and things of that nature. That could be a tough place to say no to.
This is a kid Michigan has to have for many reasons. To have him snagged out from underneath you and pulled to Florida would hurt - bad. Untill I see something on TV or in print - it's a rumor.

It would be more believable if Tate had an iron grip on the QB position, but since he struggled, DG has to believe he has a shot at winning the job. Also, he is surrounded by a lot of really young talent like Roundtree, Slocum, and Hemingway that now have experience and will be playing for another 2-3 years.
