Michigan's two class of 2010 commitments, wide receivers Jeremy Jackson of Ann Arbor Huron and Ricardo Miller of Orlando Dr. Phillips, are both in attendance at this week's U.S. Army Junior Combine. Besides wanting to show their talents, both prospects have second agenda.
"(Being at the combine) helps me recruit," Jackson said. "I've got a list of guys and I want to talk to those people, get to know them and talk to them about Michigan.
"We both want to show who is the best," Jackson said. "People will try to compare us but we are two different types of players. We'll both come out here to compete, do our best and we'll see at the end of the day.
"I've got to show that I can be a deep threat because that's one of the things I'm good at. Hopefully they'll give me a couple fades this week so I can show that I can go up and get the ball as good as anybody else."
"I just want to show people that Michigan didn't make a mistake," Miller added. "I am going to show people that I've got the size, I've got the speed, I've got the strength and I've got what it takes to be that guy who changes Michigan around."
Both Jackson and Miller committed to Michigan in October. Because his father is the running backs coach at Michigan, most schools understand that Jackson is solidly with the Wolverines, though that did not stop LSU from offering him last month. Miller, meanwhile, also continues to hear from other schools, but is staying strong with the Wolverines.
"I basically have Michigan on my mind 24/7 and am trying to get up there as fast as I can," Miller said. "I've had Florida in heavy contact with me and Urban Meyer talks to me every once in awhile to try and change my mind, but I am pretty good with Michigan, so I don't think anyone's going to change my mind.
"I basically have been in contact with Coach Rod Smith and talking with him about coming up for spring ball and getting ready for that. I getting a good feel for the college life, how they take care of practices and all that stuff."
Miller also added that he is currently on track to graduate early and enroll at Michigan next January. The Army Combine will take place all day tomorrow (Friday) inside the Alamodome, site of Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
