I was checking out this week's BCS rankings - and one thing in particular caught my eye - and that was Cincy's Computer ranking - they are ranked 3rd by the computers. Both Alabama and Florida are tied for first in the computers.

I wondered what might happen with the human polls and the computers after this week's SEC CG - in particular, the human polls. There is no doubt that the loser of the game will "fall" - but, my question is how far.

I don't think the loser falls out of the top five in the Coaches poll. What do you think?

Top 5, why should they fall further? Everyone below the top 5 have at least 2 losses.

704,

Not necessarily true, since I wonder if the loser will fall behind the other undefeated teams - assuming the others (Texas, Boise State, TCU) that play this weekend will win.

I agree that the loser won't drop to the 7 slot or beyond, but - I wonder if the loser will be number 6 - or "ranked above" any of the other undefeated teams.

Ok, I was thinking there were 5 undefeated teams but there are 6. So I would say they would fall to #6. How do you put Florida or Bama behind Oregon with 2 losses who sit at #7?

704,

I would expect the loser of the game to fall to 6th place - though, I would not be surprised if they did not fall as far and Boise State stayed at 6th, with the loser of the game remaining in the top 5.

I would not be surprised either if its a close game. If one gets blown out they'll fall to 6th.

Well a few years ago after #1 OSU and #2 UM played and UM lost, they only dropped to #5 and I think there was at least one undefeated team still below both of them. So I would expect that whoever loses this weekend will probably fall to #5. But since ESPN loves the SEC I wouldn't be surprised if they only went to #3 or #4.

GoGreen23,

This is what I think... The loser won't fall to sixth. I expect the loser to be in the Top 5 - with Boise behind them.

What a piece of garbage the polls are. I just saw the final regular season poll and Florida, after getting their asses handed to them, is actually in front of Boise State.

Can anyone explain how this could actually happen? I can see no logic in it. Maybe if Florida would have played Bama close, I could have understood. Bama beat Florida by 19 points - 19 points... And, what "other solid wins" did Florida demonstrate this season? It infuriates me - Florida's supposedly top ranked defense looked like a flag football team against Bama - and, who else did Florida actually play this season? Oh, LSU - where are they ranked. And, Florida State - their ranking? Of course, Georgia - hmmm?
