It looks like Charlie's already packed his office, and it's only a matter of days before the news is official. Who do you think will become the next ND head coach? IMO, the list of candidates will include Kelly (Cincy), Patterson (TCU), Harbaugh (Stanford), and Petersen (BSU).
The talk of Meyer, Stoops, Dungy, Gruden, or other NFL coaches is VERY speculative and, IMO, unrealistic.
I have no idea who they are going to select - and, am wondering what you think.

I hope it's Harbaugh, so he doesn't end up at UM!

Very hard to say, it largely depends on what type of coach they are looking at. Would they consider another NFL coach? Do they want a big name experienced coach? Do they want a young coach who is a hot name?
The safe bet would be Kelly.

The most intelligent comment I've heard thus far is this - ND's prior coaching "disappointments" (Weis, Faust and Davie, in particular) were individuals who did not have prior head coaching experience.
The one thing about Harbaugh that is interesting is this - he's at Stanford. What school was Tyrone Willingham coaching at before ND - oh, yeah - Stanford.

Brian Kelly is the obvious choice for a successor but I have doubts that Kelly will leave Cinci for South Bend.

If he's smart he won't as that team has little talent on D, no patience at all and is a coaching graveyard. But if he did go and did well then he would be a legend.
