This is good news to me. I would hate to see what this guy can do with ND recruits. Now tOSU better watch out. They have competition for a long while to come!

However, when at Grand Valley he holds a team meeting 2 days after winning the DII NC to tell the team he's turning down the Central job. Later that day he takes the job.
Not blaming him at all for taking it, just wondering why he thought he had to lie.

He can say whatever he wants from now until after the season ends, and it doesn't mean jack shit. His team is in the MNC hunt. A loss to Pitt and maybe that all changes.....

I will believe it when I see it. It's between him and the UConn coach.

Other candidates appear to be Jim Harbaugh, Kirk Ferentz, and Pat Fitzgerald from Northwestern.

Based on their existing personnel, it seems like Brian Kelly and Jim Harbaugh would be the best fit -- if they want the job.

I don't see Harbaugh going to ND for several reasons (in no particular order).

1) Jim is a Michigan man, and has no love for ND I can assure you. He might be able to put aside his bias to get the cash, but I don't think it's in his make-up to be the coach of the Irish.

2) He's doing great at Stanford and building something there.

3) He just signed a contract extension with Stanford.

4) He's a California boy, and loves Palo Alto and I cannot see him wanting to go to Indiana under any circumstances.

5) This would be a lateral move, or even a demotion for him. ND isn't what it used to be, i.e., it's not the "dream job" it once might have been. I think Jim is smart enough to know that he would be walking into a situation that has a very high chance of failure. At Stanford, the expectations are much lower than at ND, so any success is highly respected. Whereas at ND, complete success is the expectation. Who wants to be set up to fail?

Who knows. Maybe he is waiting to see if the Michigan job opens up. Meanwhile, I hope he stays at Cincinnati. And I hope Cincinnati plays Ohio State while he's there; moreover, I would like him to be available as a candidate for Michigan just in case it doesn't work out with RR.

Trust me I'd rather have him stay at UC too! But I wouldn't give what he said much thought. I was at bowling green....in the locker room when Urban Meyer said...word for word.."guys I'm coming back next year, I'm coming back for you, coming back for an undefeated season".

The NEXT DAY he accepted a 500,000 dollar offer from Utah compared to his 130,000 dollar salary from BG.

I would be VERY impressed if ND offers him millions and he turns it down. My guess is he hasn't gotten the official offer with six "0's" on it.
