Years have gone by and I have always been a Big Ten supporter no matter what. I have never liked to stoop to the level of MSU and OSU fans, but since the Michigan derangement syndrome has filled these fan bases I cannot contain my dislike for them anymore. I wish all other Big Ten teams well in their bowls. Good luck.

I used to at least try to root for the Buckeyes at bowl time. But that was before the last 4 years and the continuous ridicule that their fans on this site keep slinging at us. Why should I root for your school for a bowl game? Because of the B10? Sorry but I don't love the conference that much.

I just can't root for OSU, I've tried in past bowls but I found myself smiling and joyfull when I see OSU lose. Is that bad of me? Even is Michigan was in the National title game and OSU was in the Pappa Johns bowl, I would still not root for them. I hate the Scarlett and Gay that much...

Of course! Always root for the Big Ten team! There is only one team I want beating OSU like a drum, and that is Michigan.
But that hasn't happened since Tressel took over, and there is no sign that it will start to happen any time soon.
But we need a strong OSU in the Big Ten so that when we do beat them (and someday we are going to) it will mean something nationally.
Right now, OSU suffers from the fact that beating Michigan doesn't get them any respect. THAT IS WRONG!
Having said that, I am more pointed and direct than the OSU fans. I called every bowl game loss for OSU on this site well before the game was played, from 2006 onward.
And today, I have a bad feeling about the Rose Bowl. Hope I am wrong, but OSU fans had better not get misguided optimism about this one.
Play like you did against USC and you just might.....lose really bad! This team Oregon crushed USC!

Don't get it in your head that the Buckeyes winning will ruin my day, because it won't. I have no emotional attachment to this game other than I'll root for the Ducks. It'll make me very happy if the Ducks win but I won't be upset at all if they lose since they are after all a PAC 10 team.

Speak for yourself. I don't hate Michigan. I don't like some of the arrogance displayed by the likes of Michigirl, etc.
And I've said it before: Ohio State isn't as great without Michigan and vice versa. You can deny it all you want but they compliment each other.

Shirc I usually do root for OSU come bowl time just sometimes I wonder living here in Ohio and being a Michigan fan if I want the greatness of OSU thrown in my face for another year. My inlaws and wife are OSU and always root Michigan when they are over and Michigan is on so for the better OSU fans I'll root for OSU although the ridiculous arrogance I will hear from neighbors on how invincible OSU is if they do win will be enough for me to wish they didn't. I do admire a good football team and thought OSU really put on one heck of a great show for the 97rose and 02 fiesta bowls I just find it hard to deal with the poor sportsmanship that I will experience. It was much easier when I lived in Michigan to pull for OSU because I was not surounded by the arrogance and had it thrown in my face how much better OSU is than Michigan every time OSU had a great sucess. OSU nut makes sense at times but if you read some of his post he comes off like your typical OSU fan and that is why OSU is now the team America loves to hate even more so than Notre Dame. In years past at Michigan/OSU game when it was in Ann Arbor I have tailgated with OSU fans in the spirit of good football and sportsmanship. From what I am told the Michigan fans are treated like total crap there in Columbus when the game takes place there. It won't change me and how I treat the OSU fans when they are on my turf but shows me just why OSU is so hated by so many. I hate Oregon for the humiliating drubbing they gave us a few years back. I still think if Chad Henne stayed in the game we had a shot in a shoot out. Once the mr. ego himself Ryan Mallet stepped in we were finished and Oregon made Michigan Players and fans alike look like fools. A few years back Michigan did the job you guys were not able to do by taking down Florida. Maybe you guys will do the same with Oregon. Your coach needs to pull out all stops and put Pryor in the shotgun with Saine back there and run the offense the kid runs best and you have a very good chance. For god sake their maskot is nothing but a bird good for making soup so I hope OSU does not get the big ten embarrassed again.

Let's not forget Michigan fans that Oregon is the team that came in and drubbed us at home a few years back. Honestly, a loss to OSU at home is a whole lot more respectable than a loss to a team that uses a dumb bird as a mascot. I felt more shame out of that loss than any OSU loss ever experienced. We know OSU recruits elite and fields a good team but losing to a team like Oregon with middle of the road talent at home like that was a joke. All the Carr lovers out there should remember what that felt like and just how far our program had sunk at that point. After that I have patience with RR. That year I expected a winning product. Within a few seasons once RR is loaded with the speed we need we won't be getting drubbed by anybody like that.

I am surprised 704, I really expected MORE from YOU, but I guess you're no different from SOME of the other knumbskulls on here.
I know that there has to be at least 1 UM fan on here with the common sense to root for the Conference and not allow a few people to get to him so much that he would abandon the Big 10. {Because IF or WHEN Michigan does come back, a true UM fan is gonna want to see a strong Big 10 nationally, or else UM's comeback won't mean much, will it?.
So it's all UM or nothing huh? How did you feel about this issue back in the 90's? Did you allow a handful of opinions make you decide to see the Big 10 ridiculed in the rest of the country when Michigan was vying for the Big 10 title with OSU every year? Miami, Nebraska and Florida St. were dominating the top 10 back then.
I'm really disappointed in you 704 I thought you were made of sterner stuff than that, but I guess I was wrong. I guess I had too high of an opinion of you... and your Big Ten spirit.

TP looked pretty good tonight -- his throwing motion is still pretty weird though, and he threw up two prayers, one of which was picked, and the other one was luckily caught. The throw to Posey deep to the left was pretty nice, as was the one to Saine to the right. His stiff arm is the most impressive part of his game, IMO.
I thought Oregon's defense played him as well as they could play him -- and I hope that DRob was watching them drop the D Linemen into space to wait until TP tried to break the pocket and were there to wrap him up. You cannot let him on the perimeter if you want to have any chance of winning.
I wish he was a senior right now -- not looking forward to seeing him for another two seasons.

He is only going to get more and more dangerous. Tonight was the tip of the iceberg. The whole offense comes back. The offensive line is starting to look really good. I love our WR's and RB's - and we get deeper next year.
If I was a Michigan fan I would have to agree about seeing TP the next two years. That was a very good team they played tonight - and TP looked special. I have a concern about who is going to leave early from the defense. If Heyward and Gibson come back - watch out. The Bucks will be NC contenders.

260 yards of total offense and 17 points - I will take that.
The Oregon offense is tough to defend. They have speed and a QB that is dangerous on the run. The Bucks were out of position a few times and made a few bad reads - but for the most part they played well. Michigan is a long long way from being as good as Oregon - so I feel confident the next few years.

IMO tate is a better QB, he's a better passer. Are WR talent wise are better, now RB is a big question mark I have, if Vincent Smith comes back look out;) Those little Oregon backs ran over OSU players all night:D

Really - how many yards did they have ? Did any of them score ?
Please do not make a fool of yourself and say Tate is better then Massoli or Pryor. Today you saw both guys do things that Tate is just not able to do. Michigan does not have anything close to the talent of either team. Oregon was three deep at RB and they all were dangerous. In fact any of the three would be the starter for Michigan.
Tate was a good passer - untill he played good defenses. Then he was a turnover machine.

You're not gonna impress any one from Ohio State IN HERE no matter what you do. That's beside the point.
Don't say YOU guys by the way; I have ALWAYS rooted for the Big 10 in ALL non-conference games, and bowl games, Michigan included, and I ALWAYS will. That is a FACT.
If the conference does'nt improve {and it is are improving some} then if , IF, IF Michigan ever comes back to prominence, then they may not get a shot at a NC with 1 loss or maybe even undefeated. So even if you have NO loyalty to the BT conf. You should root for the conf. for the good of your beloved Wolverines. Use your head for something besides a hat rack.
If the list of teams you mentioned are not doing well then your Wolverines are'nt gonna look good either by beating those teams. {The BT is making a pretty good showing so far in the 2009-10 bowl games 3-2 with 2 to go. Even the losses were good games.} NWU should've beat Auburn, they outplayed Auburn in the 2nd half. Their kicker went down.
I thought you had some football sense but you're nothing but a common homer. I don't think anyone from Ohio would be impressed if YOU did root for OSU, {again that's not the point} but you should at least want to help your own team by having a nationally strong Big 10. It's simply common sense.

I felt that Pryor played better today than normal because he was allowed to do what his skill set allows him to do. His stiff-arm is good and saved him for a couple sacks. He also was able to break off some arm-tackles that saved him from getting sacked.
His throw though... I don't know what it is. It looks terrible. It's like he's trying to place the ball instead of throw it. He had some bullets that looked impressive, don't get me wrong. A lot of his shorter throws that got broken up were due to his mechanics, I think. He doesn't follow through.

I don't think anybody you have will ever perform better in the clutch against Michigan than Troy Smith did. TP is looking better but has benefited from Michigan being lousy. I don't think this years OSU or last years OSU would have beaten Michigan in the Troy Smith years. The guy was a magician and everything he touched turned to gold when he played Michigan. He would make throw after throw on the run in the clutch. TP will never have that accuracy or demeanor. Few do

Wait a second..... we ran alot more total yards against you than Oregon and that was with an 18 year old kid starting at qb and patched up O line. Oregon has more wins than us do to having a deeper roster and not having to start an 18 year old kid at qb because that is all they have. If the O line can make some good progress in the offseason I would look for us to be a hell of alot better than that on offense. We have some flat out burners that will outrun everybody in your secondary you will be seeing in coming seasons. Yes the Oregon defense is better but also a hell of alot more talented that what we had on the field. Give us time. I feel damn good about the future against you guys knowing that the only reason we lost is the same reason Oregon lost we handed you the ball and handed you a free td that was not forced by your defense. JT coaches not to lose and that will be your undoing as it has been when you play an elite.

Look at the intensity the Buckeyes played with today. Did you see that against Michigan ? The Buckeyes played a flat / ho-hum game against Michigan. It was like they knew they were going to win before the ball was even kicked off. Plus the team was 100% healthy today - that was not the case in Nov.

Now, for whatever reason, I don't feel the same way about Michigan. The last time I rooted for them in a non conference situation was the App. State game. That was purely a David vs. Goliath thing though. I'm not trying to sell Michigan fans on rooting for OSU because I couldn't do it when Cooper was choking it up against the Wolverines all those years.

I was actually impressed with tuos in their bowl game. First, they actually had a plan this year, and second, it looked like the players knew what that plan was.
Seriously though, JT FINALLY used TP correctly. Short passes all day, let him get out of the pocket and pick up some yards with his feet. Keep the defense honest with some "prayer" bombs. Overall, good win for the Big10, great win for tuos.

I'm a common homer? Oh puleeze. You can't tell me that you cheered for UM against Florida 3 years ago or for UM in the Big Dance last year. I know better than that and I'm not gonna try to smooze anyone by saying I am cheering for all B10 teams when I am not.
What you guys are advocating is like in the NFL say the Steelers don't make it to the playoffs then their fans should cheer for the Bengals because they come from the same conference. Thats not gonna happen EVER.
If you want someone like me to support all B10 teams in bowl season then that means I would need to root for OSU. Am I glad they won? Sure, it makes the conference look better but if my team takes care of themselves on the field we don't need the conference looking great to get a BCS bowl, or even the MNC. Michigan is Michigan and if they get back to that level they will get the support.
I really don't CARE who YOU root for. I simply said for the sake of your TEAM.
Right now in fact I can't think of ANYTHING I CARE LESS ABOUT than WHO 704 roots for !!!!
Ok if you insist I won't tell you that I rooted for UM vs Florida 3 years ago in the capital one bowl {But I did} Sorry if that disappoints you.
Never say Never....IF the Browns were helped by a victory by another conf. team {say to get a wild card over a team from a different conf. } then I would root for that conf. team, yes I would. So how can you say it could never happen EVER?????? Take your time and THINK about it.

I am thinking about it. How does OSU winning a bowl game help UM right now? It doesn't.
You took my NFL example completely wrong. I said THIS year with the Bengals IN the playoffs and the Steelers and Browns sitting at home would Browns and Steelers fans cheer for the Bengals just because they are a AFC North conference team?
And if you care so little about who I cheer for then why are you debating so much? I get tired of hearing so many OSU fans say that they cheer for B10 teams when I know they don't. When those teams lose OOC games or bowl games who laughs the most? Who throws those teams down the well more than anyone else? Buckeye fans, thats who.
I remember after UM lost to Appy St the trolls on here sure weren't pulling for UM against Oregon and in fact kept saying we would lose and derided us when UM did. Don't recall hearing any trolls cheering UM on for that game or any other. In fact before the Florida game you guys kept telling us how badly we were going to get thrashed by Florida. Cheering us on? Yeah right, you were waiting for us to crash so you could make fun of us.

Many of us are waiting for that opener against UConn for the exact same reason. Could you imagine the heat that will be on RR and your program if UConn comes in and punks you guys in week #1. That is veru possible. I hear they have a solid core of players coming back and they are currently beating the crap out of South Carolina. UConn plays solid football and after their win in South Bend - they will not be intimidated bt the Big House.
That is going to be one of your biggest openers in resent memory. I will not tell you who many of us Buckeye fans will be pulling for.

My sentiments exactly.
As a Michigan fan, I generally root against OSU, but this year I didn't. I didn't root FOR OSU, but didn't root against them and was generally pleased with their win. Looks good for the Big Ten.

Pryor threw a few downfield and actually completed a couple.
