Their is an artical on Yahoo sports that talks about how voters in the Harris poll and other polls that make up the BCS dont even bother to watch games but go off of highlights and other reporters say so on how they cast thier votes. This is how Utah got dicked by the voters this year becasue they dont play in one of the glamour confrences. They beat four teams in the top 25 and beat Alabama like a rented mule in the Sugar Bowl down in thier own backyard. This just proves the point that it is all hype and this SEC bias is perpetrated by a bunch of dickheads that dont take the time to watch a game or teams ased on what ESPN or CBS sports casters think.

I have to agree. This has to be the worst year for the BCS ever. If the national championship were actually settled on the field like it should be these two teams would not even make the final. If it is going to be a mythical title Utah deserves the title since they won all their games and destroyed Alabama which by the way Florida had to rally for the last second touchdown to beat. If it were settled on the field USC would be beating either of these teams 50-0 by halftime. Remember USC/Oklahoma a few years back when it was about that at halftime. This year the BCS deserves no credit or respect because they haven't even come close to getting it right. It would be nice to have a true champion.

I agree and I would rather have the old 100% votes based system back, rather than this crap!

I still don't see how Texas got passed over in two successive weeks once by a team that they already beat, and the second time by Florida that edged out an overrated Alabama team! Total horse shit! If I were Texas, I would boycott the Fiesta, or I'd got to the Fiesta bowl, and simply take a knee on every play, or put a bunch of hot women in skimpy dresses on the field, or something off the wall, just to show the BSC what a joke they are.

Mack Brown and his fellow coaches that got shafted are too nice, or too controlled by their respective schools. They need to stand up to these money grubbing jackasses that have hijacked the sport, and tell them to FUCK OFF!

Sten,

I do believe this may be the first time since the early days of SackCarr that I find myself in accord with one of your posts. Is today one of the solstices of the Mayan calendar?

The universities either need to be rid of those liberal-assed, do-gooders who find it simply wonderul that 32 teams get to end their season as champions of some meaningless bowl in their opposition to a playoff system, or they need to be forced to sit and watch one of those half hour Ross Perot infomercials where ole H. Ross can use his pie charts on a dry erase board with his folksy sayings to show how the crazy aunt in the basement could probably get a billion dollar contract from one of the networks for the rights to broadcast a college playoff format. Maybe old dinosaurs like E. Gordon Gee could be shown the merits of the additional revenue generated by hosting a home playoff game and how it could allow the university to take club ping pong to varsity status.

I should be happy my Buckeyes are playing in a prestigious bowl but I really don't give a crap.

I'm not sure why it is the big ten get's ridiculed so bad for being beaten by USC by a few touchdowns every year. I don't think any other team would do any better. They are a machine. I Remember the demolition of the 13-0 oklahoma team from a few years back. The game was over by the end of the first quarter. You put USC in the championship game the last two years and you would have seen that same kind of demolition. If there were a real playoff USC might have 3 title in a row. It's almost like they try to keep USC out just to preserve the status quo and save face of the southern crybabies so that they can continue to live in their delusional litlle world and believe they are the best. I'd love to see a USC/SEC matchup for the national championship. I'd lmao at all the sorry excuses afterword. If the SEC is so great then why not schedule USC for a non conference game instead of some eastern tennessee or southwest louisiana 1aa school? Oh yeah that's right I forgot about the auburn and arkansas demolition of a few years ago. What was that USC 52-14 over sec champ arkansas and 28-3 over an auburn team favored to win the conference. Not only do they show up to play in bowls but they have so much talent their third string line up would have given psu a good game if not beat them.

I found Rick Reilly's article pretty compelling:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3815656

I am sure every SEC fan on the planet would argue "Yeah but Utah would never survive the regular season the SEC, no team can". I dunno, they pretty much manhandled an Alabama squad that ran the table in their conference and probably should have beaten Florida in the conference championship.

The only shame is that Boise St lost to TCU otherwise we'd have 2 teams putting on display what a farce the BCS is.

That's a well written, logical article. I can't find any fault in it really...

Agreed, I actually sent it around to people I know that I've been discussing the BCS with.

I think Utah deserves the title too! Especially since the match-makers were probably snickering at the Utes (the team not the tribe) when they set up the game vs. Alabama -- "they think they're so good, they think they deserve mention among the elite...wait'll they get a load of Bama!" It blew up in the BCS's face, that is for sure.

I think its very interesting that the judicial system is now getting involved. I hope the people that have hijacked our beloved sport pay for what they've done. I doubt they will, they'll probably just get their monopoly broken up, but Rick is right, the University Presidents are just like the bankers -- they're all fleecing us and lining their pockets for as long as they can before they either get caught or the public runs out of money!

Has anyone else noticed the selection of the teams in the championship game. At least one of them has the home field advantage. Florida playing this year in Miami, LSU last year in New Orleans, USC was in the last one at the Rose Bowl!!!! Is it me or is that kind of suspicious. the best thing is that the Comish of the SEC is the president of the BCS comitte and look how the last 3 years an SEC team has leap frogged other teams to get in the title game. Florida leaped Michigan 3 years ago, LSU jumped 3 teams last year, and Florida again passing several teams to get the nod this year. Wow!

Another thing that is pissing me off is how Florida and Tim Tebag are being annointed the greatest team ever to play college football and are going to run Oklahomo off the field. This is the same Florida team that Michigan slapped around at the Capital one bowl last year correct?

I dont know why all of you are so upset. This has been the BCS norm for 10 years. The only and I mean only way to fix this is to go to a pure playoff and eliminate these good 'ol boy 'opinion' polls.

that said, i'll never see a playoff in my life time because everyone that stands to lose money on a playoff wont back it. aka Bowls, ESPN, ABC, Fox Sports, SEC, PAC-10, B10, B12, and all the schools and AD's in between.

College football is a joke... lets watch the "Idontcareanymore.com Bowl between 6-6 Western Southern Kentucky A&M vs. 7-5 Northern Central Wyoming!

Honestly, I really dont care anymore and have almost lost all interest in football. I've been watching hockey and fine Nashville vs. Tampa Bay more interesting then any 'opinion' bowl game this year.

I think it's funny everyone talks about how great fl is this year, and how great they were two years ago, but everyone says the team was down when michigan beat them.... LOL.

The scheduling of the BCS games has really made this seem quite "old" - I could handle the game on the 2nd or 3rd - but, it really does seem like the college season's over...

I agree 100%! I always associated College Bowl games with the Holidays, they are part of the decorations. What good is eggnog without a bowl game on the TV? I mean, now the holidays are over, the decorations have all come down and no one gives 2 shits about the NC game except for Florida and Oklahoma fans. I mean all the other CFB fans are geared up and ready for the NFL playoffs and the superbowl. I know I am not into this game. I might take a glance here or there but to be honest, I'll probably watch the Devils vs. the Thrashers and switch over between periods to the BCSNC game.

I will watch it simply because I love college football and it will be a long time before we get to see it again. Not really into basketball much, except March Madness time. Will root for Oklahoma, but don't care too much, might be fun to see the 2 quarterbacks in action.
