OK, I know that I'll be accused of flaming troll activity here but I don't care. I can't stand THE ROD. I'm curious to your opinions on who their next coach should be. Do you go with a hot up and comer (TCU coach maybe?) or do you want someone championship proven (Meyer). How do you all still feel about Lester Miles? I think if I were a UM fan, I'd still hold out hope for LM.
I know that The Michigan Man and a few others are ready to sign THE ROD to a ten year extension but, who do the rest of you want to see replace him if the Wolverines don't go bowling yet again?

Its all conjecture at this point. Until RR is fired we have no clue who would want the job or who would be available. Besides since you are an OSU fan your opinion of our coach is worthless. Would you like us to discuss who OSU should replace JT with?
Just because we support our coach and are willing to give him the necessary time does not mean we are willing to give him a lifelong contract. I don't think any of us have said anything more than 4-5 years max to see if he'll work out.

More than anything RR is not close to loosing his job so <end of thread>.

I agree with you but (for some gut reason), I just don't think THE ROD is that great. I think he probably overachieved at West Virginia in a mediocre at best conference. Although, at Michigan I don't think anyone is safe if they don't go bowling for three straight years.

Rich gets one year max if they suck again next year. In no rational way can you justify keeping him for year 4 if next year doesn't produce better results.

As far as replacements, I do like Les, but he's not at the top of my list. Petersen (Boise) and Andersen (Utah) would be my first choices at this point. Brian Kelly was WAY out in front, until he left for Notre Lame. Totally throwing this out there, but I'd be interested to see what Butch Davis could do at the helm of UM.

If Rich doesn't work out, Michigan will only look for a guy with a Michigan past. I would want Harbaugh (with Mike Hart as RB coach!)

Anderson (Utah)? Is that an OC or DC?

I dn't know who he is talking about because there is no Anderson on the coaching staff.

Butch Davis has some of the most powerful snake oil available if he can sucker recruits into going to basketball school UNC. It they get rid of RR I'd say go after Butch Davis hard.

I think the Les Miles talk needs to go away. IF - and that's a big IF - RR doesn't work out Les Miles is one of the last people we should want coaching UM. I'd look long and hard at forgiving Douche Harbaugh and bringing him in.

I hate to bust your tea party but the new AD was on the coaching search team, that hired RR, he did not want Les Miles. David Brandon is the reason Les is not here and Rod is. If you listen to Brandon's comments today, he said that he doesn't talk the past, he only creates the future and the future is for him to make RR and the football program as competitive as possible. FWIW, as long as Mary Sue Coleman is the president at Michigan, Harbaugh isn't going to get even a sniff at Michigan. Jimmy burnt the bridge

If RR falls on his face Harbaugh will without a doubt in the running. I'm sure any bridge he so called burned will be rebuilt in an effort to get Michigan back on track. He is really the only coach that sort of scares me. The way he attacked USC instead of backing down impressed me. He would do the same with his approch toward OSU - so I hope he did burn that bride and you don't want him. He would be far and away the best guy for the job. Since Meyer would not come to Michigan - Harbaugh is really the only guys that Ohio fans should really be concerned about.

Uhhhhh...did you actually read my post? Might want to try it again. I might have not read your post right, been pulling in 18 hour days the last few weeks, so forgive me if I took it wrong. But as someone that knows the Moellers, I can tell you that Gary told us that RR isn't going anywhere as long as David Brandon is the AD. Gary said that in his opinion, DB will do everything in his power to make RR a success at UM. Also, he told us that Jim Harbaugh will never be the coach at Michigan, even if something happened to RR and for that matter Les Miles (an ex teamate of Brandon's).

You weren't concerned about Les Miles a couple of years ago when he almost came to UM, and he put quite a nice ass-whooping on tUOS in that NC game.

Yeah, you did read it wrong. I'm 100% for RR. The OP's question was" let's talk new coach IF it happens". I was saying how sick I am of all the Les Miles talk. We do not want Les Miles as a coach at UM and it makes me very happy to hear your insider info that that won't ever happen. As far as Harbuagh goes I can take him or leave him. Compared to Miles he's a bajillion times the better option but I can see how he might have dicked himself over. I'm fine with that.

You got that right, Nut. Harbaugh is their man. He would definitely bring game against Tressel. Would be good to see the old days come back when UM was actually competitive.

So, you enjoyed the "good old days", like the Cooper years, when UM was "actually competitive"? No Kool Aid for me, thank you.

NUT pointed out how Harbaugh got right in usc's face. He's done it twice now. Tressell bent over and took it twice from usc. You sure you want Harbaugh at UM? That'll make the Cooper years look like a blessed dream to you uos fans. Of course, starting this year you'll all be pining for the Lloyd years again so either way you're screwed.
