I kind of have to agree with him. Michigan being down does the big ten NO good whatsoever.

Yaddy, yaddy, yah. Sportswriters are natural born idiots. Some kids want to get away from the 'hood and get a change of scenery. Some kids don't. So what? How many kids have come from other parts of the country to play in the Big Ten? Loads of them. Sportwriters are idiots. Just another something for some asshole to take a shot at the Big Ten. He can go blow.

I think the thing that isn't being mentioned is the trade off between the big ten finding the players in places other than big ten states that are just as highly rated as the ones who opt to leave. Let's face it Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Iowa will never outrecruit the likes of Florida, Texas or USC. Nationally PSU, OSU and Michigan usually do a good job of competing for top players in the back yards of the other powers. Sure it's tougher on Michigan being that we aren't winning but losing won't be the norm and by this next season when we are winning again we will have a better shot at the top recruits. On the positive note very few top recruits pan out to be what they were supposed to be anyhow.

The combination of Michigan's fall the past 2 seasons and oSU getting thumped in high profile games for many seasons is definitely not helping the Big Ten. Plus I wonder how much the economic woes of the rust belt in the mid-west is hurting the Big Ten schools as the population of the US continues to shift to to the southest and southwest of the nation.

I don't buy into this very much. This year is a OK season in Ohio for talent. There really is not to many elite level kids this year. The Buckeyes were not going to go after a RB from Ohio this year - because we are deep there and have Smith coming in with this class. Some of the kids that are leaving Ohio did not even have offers from Ohio State. How come there was no story in previous years when Ohio State was taking talent away from PA, FLA and other states. It really is no big deal. Michigan needs players at a ton of spots and because of their record will have a hard time attracting elite players - for now. Penn State has a solid class as does Ohio State. Iowa and Wisconsin have a knack of finding kids that kit their programs pretty damn good - so don't worry about the Big Ten.

Let's see how many of those kids like Florida when they get there and have 3 studs ahead of them on the depth chart. Remember USC a few years ago when they had all those studs - they began to transfer. You can only play so many kids. Many of those top schools look great - untill you get there and realize it might be 3 years before you sniff the field. Tressel and others recrut needs - period. Many of the guys that have been cornerstone players were recruited on character as much as ability. Florida and Texas are hot right now - let's see how hot they are if they don't keep winning. Just two years ago Ohio State and the Big Ten got the #1 kid in the nation - so don't think our conference is dead. Next year the Buckeyes have some serious needs to go after and will have more offers to give - so expect a Top 5 class out of OSU.

I think recruiting is going as well for Michigan as any of us could expect. Scout rates our class right now in the top ten and we may score a few more 4 stars before it is over. There is a good number of athletic and speedy three star players coming in. I'll take the measurables and hope we can develope them as football players. I'm happy with where we are. Only Notre Dame or King snake oil himself Nick Saban can sign a top class after a losing season. Who knows maybe some of these other schools will be top heavy enough with talent for good players to take the transfer to Michigan. I got a kick out of how many high school all american running backs made USC their graveyard. There is only time for 1 or 2 to play and who says this years top running back in the nation is any better than last years. Some of these players are just flat out dellusional when they think they will walk into USC and start freshmen year in front of the other 8 high school armerican running backs. Things are going as well as they are right now because for players who want to play there is alot of reason to come to Michigan.

Well we can both agree on what you just said.

Not to mention the guy got at least one fact wrong. He said PSU was the only B10 school in the top 20 at Rivals. I just double checked and UM is still hanging in at 19. What an idiot this sportswriter is.
