Ohio State RB Wells to enter NFL draft
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells is giving up his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft.
Wells issued a statement Thursday saying the move is in the best interest of his family.
Wells fought nagging injuries much of his career at Ohio State. After missing three full games this past season, he returned to rush for 1,197 yards.
But he saw limited action in the second half of Monday's Fiesta Bowl due to symptoms of a concussion. He finished with 106 yards on 16 carries.
In three seasons at Ohio State, Wells ran for 3,382 yards, fourth best in school history.

Can't blame him. The life of an NFL running back is short.

They called Beanie '' Clarrett without the problems'' and it turned out to be so true. Seems like a class act, never ran his mouth, just played hard. Best of luck Beanie, we loved watching you.

Well said. Beanie was definitely a class act and a great running back. The Wolverines sure won't miss him along with a lot of other college football teams that had to face him. Best of luck to him, he had a legitimate shot for Heisman without those darn injuries. That's the only downside to being a football player...

My favorite memory of Beanie - getting concussed and knocked out of the game by Texas a few days ago. I love it when 20 year old kids get injured! YEAH!!!!!*
(*Sarcasm alert - 1OSUNUT reveled in McGuffie getting knocked out, so I just thought I'd demonstrate how pathetic that truly is...)

Beanie is going to be missed. He always did his talking on the field - not to the media. It was a much harder choice then you would think. Beanie has a large family to worry about supporting and the punishment a RB takes along with how hard he runs is a dangerous combination. I just hope he can stay healthy at the next level. I do know one thing - there is a lot of defensive players who won't be missing those stiff arms.
It's up to Herron, Saine and Berry next year.

OSU doesn't use Saine enough. He was a track star in high school.
I won't miss Beanie... :)

It's good to know that Beanie consulted you and gave you his reasons for going. It's a miracle you were able to hear him speak what with your focus on tressy's slobber knocker in your mouth.

my cynical ass wonders if he feigned being concussed. Perhaps he felt he gave OSU 100 yds on the ground at that point (fulfilling his obligation to the team) and didn't want to risk a real injury in the final 30 mins since he knew he was taking off.

Wells was definitely prone to injury throughout his tuos career. Perhaps he simply can't play through pain and any slight soreness causes him to believe he is done for the day. Plus he seems extremely lazy to me.

Wells was never a Clarrett.
Clarrett was one of the most dominant running backs ever, he willed OSU to A NC, when he was in the OSU O line looked like NFL players, when he was out, even for a play, they looked like HS reject linemen.

Another brilliant post Furley. Do you have anything that suggests Wells was anything other 100% devoted to seeing OSU win? How many other guys are entering the draft this year? You think all of them packed it in this bowl season? Wells played through a broken wrist that needed surgery at the conclusion of the season last year. He worked himself into tears prior to The Game last year, talking about how bad he wanted to win. Does this sound like a guy that would quit on his team? He had blurry vision and wasn't allowed back into the game by the trainers. You already didn't watch the OSU/Um game this year and I really wish you had skipped the bowl game and then you could have spared us the bs that you pulled from your (I'm sure ample) backside.

I feel bad for the kid, that must have sucked to have the last game of his college career end in a loss and one that he was only able to play half. But, your other troll buddy has made it difficult for any osu player to get anything more then this on a concussion. After the statements about McGufee, during the osu game. I am surprised it isn't worse.
I wish Wells the best in the NFL, he has had a good career at osu.

59 carries, 412 yards, 6.98 YD/ATT, 4 TDs, and a 3-0 record vs Michigan. Thanks for the memories and good luck Beanie!!

Anybody that doubted whether or not McGuffie had a concussion may have had one themselves. At any rate, I would argue that McGuffie's commitment to his team could be questioned, not Wells'. In fact, McGuffie is a good example of somebody that could have packed it in because he had mentally checked out. I'm not saying he did though.

I could see how you would say something like that. After two concussions, his Grandmother passes away, and he still comes back to play. I would say that McGuffie didn't mentally check out, he could have not come back to play at all.

You must hate the Lions. The last thing the Lions need is an OSU player. OSU players suck at the next level.

Wells and McGuffey are both class acts. It's a violent game. Texas and TOSU hit extremely hard all year. Sam will do better in the CUSA where defenses don't dominate.

Wells was a beast and had some great games and will go down as one of oSU's best backs. Still had a lot of nagging injuries and I have a feeling that it will continue on in the NFL...
