I am getting a little tired of all the sports talking heads talk about offense..offense this and offense that...the spread...the west coast la de da de deee,,,
lets at Michigan bring back defense...its been the lack of defense that has cost the wolverines many games in the last 5 years...first is that stupid arm tackleing...second is playing too far of the recivers....3rd is not timeing the blitz right....Michigan has got to get back to the basics to DEFENSE but can RR do it,,,,,does he even want to????

I couldn't agree more. I think you saw tonight and in the past two NC's. Defense wins! When you have great D, you won't get embarrassed and you have a legitimate shot at winning it all. Wolverine, you are right on in your analysis, IMO.

11 of our current 20 commits are for the Defensive side of the ball. 4 of the 7 kids coming to visit this weekend are for the Defensive side of the ball. It is yet to be seen how the DC search will pan out.

I think that RR is trying to get the Defense to where it needs to be.

Just go back to 1997 and look at that U of M D. That was flying to the ball for sure.

I agree and good news it looks like RR is thinking that as well.

Your statement about this DC is the biggest of all...yes they seem to be filling defensive need but I know we all agree the talent means nothing unless they are coached into a unit...all buying into a plan, a scheme, an idea...otherwise its just a bunch of talent running around arm tackling

I feel better that there is time being taken to look for a DC, rather then just throwing someone in there. It also speaks a ton for our other Defensive coaches, for that talent that they have committed without a DC.

Anyone think we're going to hear something by the end of the Coaches Convention? When does the darn thing end anyway?

agreed, I was afraid they would just find some "flavor of the month" defensive guy in a week. They need to really really look at guys. Not just pick someone who is okay that hangs their repuation on one big win.

I don't even care if it is a young guy with the right attitude and phylosiphy

I think that we will hear more after the coaches conference this week.

Yeah, I agree. The rumblings a few weeks ago were that RR was waiting for after the bowl games to start interviewing and that the coaches convention would be the best opportunity to see a bunch of different guys. They can't wait too much longer. They need to start preparing the players for next season.
