With a little luck and some good defense the USNT held on for a 1-1 draw verse England. I really thought the game was over when England came out in the 4th mnute and scored. The US defense fell apart and gave up a soft goal that should not have happened. Im very happy for the draw, now the guys need to get a little rest and go out and win the next game.

I've been a soccer fan since my youth. No doubt that the US team 's goal was "soft and lucky", in my opinion - but, at this stage you have to take points any way you can get them. I hope they make it to the round of 16 - if they do, I think the quarterfinals is most likely as far as they can go this year.

Yeah, unless they win group C the Nats are looking to face a very, very good German team in the next round. That doesnt bode well for the USNT.

Name a sport where you don't need a bit of luck to win. The UK was lucky that the other shot hit the post or they lose the game. How would that go over.
I tried to watch a few matches this weekend but I cannot get stand that constant buzzing noise and horns from the crowd. I fail to see why the whole world loves this game so much. 0-0 or 1-1 and people are jumping with joy - then the next second a game gets decided by a free kick that my 12 year old son can make from point blank range. The rules are very inconsistant IMO. The game is played with great emotion but the fans take soccer way way to serious.

Nut, I do believe this is true in most every sport. I'm a fan of a few sports - college football, men's tennis (grand slam events), golf's grand slam events, the Olympics, and the World Cup. I know it's tough for many americans to understand - but, soccer is the "world's game". Just as an aside - in professional baseball and basketball - at the end of the playoffs we hear "world champions" - well, it seems like it should be "United States Champions" - or "North America (not including Mexico) Champions".
I respect someone who doesn't appreciate or enjoy the style and perhaps pace of play - but, for those who are familiar with it - it's a great game.
