Michigan 60-1 to win next year's national title; MSU with 100-1 odds
By STEVE SCHRADER • FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER • January 11, 2009
Get your money down now: BetOnline.com already has installed Southern Cal as a 4-1 favorite to win next year's Bowl Championship Series title.
Four other teams have single-digit odds: Defending champion Florida at 5-1, Oklahoma at 7-1, Texas at 8-1 and Ohio State at 9-1.
In other words, the same teams as usual. It's not too original, but it probably won't be too far from the truth, either, the way the BCS computer spits 'em out.
And what about 13-0 Utah, this year's nobody that tried to crash the party? 60-1, same as Michigan.
Hmm. So if the Wolverines are 60-1, that must make Michigan State, oh, about ... 100-1. Apparently BetOnline.com sees things returning to normal in this state, too.
But here's one that'll tick off U-M and MSU fans: Notre Dame beats them both at 25-1.
No matter how bad they get, the Irish always will be overrated.

No reason they shouldn't return to normal. Lil Bro barely beat us in our worst season ever, lose their one-dimensional offense(Ringer) next year, and break in a new QB(?). Oh, and UM will be a year along in its transition. Smackdown time again bitches!

Hm 9 to 1 for osu? Where can I bet against them being in the NC game? :)

There is no way, NO WAY OSU even challenges for the Big Ten title next year. They are replacing starters numbering in the double digits. No way they do that and stay on top.

OSU will definitely compete for a big 10 title next season, like it or not. Who else would be the favorite?

Are you forgetting how awful the Big 10 is?

Well nothing's new here, those computer polls and betting sites are always against MSU. Not that it matters, but I think they'll be better than most people expect next year. We have a lot of returning players on defense next year and just enough players left on offense to win some games. Now that Hoyer is gone, we'll be able to diversify the playcalling a little bit. Cousins and Nichol are better than he was anyway. We'll probably win 8 or so games next year.
But I can guarantee this: THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL THAT NOTRE DAME WINS ANYTHING SUBSTANTIAL NEXT YEAR!!

That new QB is going to be Kirk Cousins or Keith Nichol (Sam Bradford's backup last year). Our offense played better when Cousins was in too. He also played in a couple of games this year, one of them against Georgia, so he's not totally inexperienced. As for Nichol, if you're good enough to be recruited by Oklahoma, there's got to be something to you, right?
As for barely beating UM this year, we beat you by 14 points. Final 35-21 I don't call that barely beating. If that's true than there are plenty of times recently that UM barely beat MSU these past few years. '05 Double OT, '07 be 4 points, etc... I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, just pointing out facts.

it is sad to say ,but ohio state will be the team to beat in the sad10, and as far as misssigan state, i would be surprised if they are a factor in anything in the big10, dantonio had his one great year, and its time for them to fall into their normal spot ,of 4th in the big10 and 7-5 overall..who is going to be the msu qb
