The Lions hired Jim Schwartz, former D Coordinator from the Titans. What do you guys think about the hire. I don't think God could save this team.

They need Tim Tebow then, only him....

Scott Pioli signs on with Kansas City to lead the Chiefs front office. How long do you think it will be before they are winning again?
Nothing good will ever happen with the lions. William Clay Ford, now running low on money and knowing fan turn out will be record low in the coming years, has done the only thing he knows how to do.
HIDE AWAY IN HIS OWN LITTLE NEVER NEVER LAND WHERE HE IS PETER PAN AND HE REST OF THE WORLD IS HOBBITS!
So he promotes two stiffs, Leland and Mayhew, to roles they have already shown they cannot handle. Those two stiffs have been even further compromised by being given pennies to spend and no support organization. That to go along with the complete lack of any football intelligence in the whole outfit.
The product of that is this new coach. He is no different from the old coach. No more qualified, no proven winner, no DAMN CHANGE!
I don't care a crap if someone says Mayhew made a good move trading Roy Williams. He HAD TO, Williams made it known he was leaving anyway. The Lions ATE his salary this year and part of next. Good move? SHIT!
The definition of stupidity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. The lions, here they are, ARE THIS!!! What have they done different now than in the past?
And what rational adult reading this post could conclude that any different outcome will occur in the future for this team? They will never win! 0-16 again next year! Let the futility ring down!
The man I am most pissed at is Roger Goodell. That chicken shit should have stepped in and taken control of the team. The league has the power to do that. He has done nothing.
All do yourself a favor and forget the NFL!

I have to agree. Nothing changes until Old Man Ford relinquishes control of the team. Mayhew might be good. Might not. Schwartz might be good. Or not. Neither matters as long as Ford calls the shots.

I expect Ford will insist that the Lions do what they've always done, and take a skill position player with the first pick -- quarterback, likely -- in the hopes of generating excitement and putting butts in the seats.

as we all know the lions are on their 45th year of rebuilding , im sure in the next few seasons they will win 6 or 7 games and be thrilled to death , and we all know how smart william ford is ,he will look at how great the team did and trade most of the good players and go into another year of rebuilding, most teams rebuild after having a number of really good seasons ,the fords and lions rebuild after they win 3 games because that is a good year for them.. one things for sure the ford family and lions football team have seperated themselves from all other pro teams , they are in a league of their own , nobdy does it better and they are proud of it,

Shocker! Lions hire ANOTHER lossing coach! Grats to the Fords for another 3 seasons of last place garbage teams. Will 2012 be different? with this track record, doubtful unless the Myans knew something. I feel bad for any player the Lions draft, that player would be better off commiting suicide because their career is already OVER.

Andre Ware, Reggie Rogers, Aaron Gibson, Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Joey Harrington and I'll even throw in Billy sims ring any bells?

Billy Sims career wasn't ruined by the Lions, when he got hurt it was all over. Sims had a hell of a career. Now playing for the Lions didn't help him, but he was still one of the best RB's to play. All of the other guys you mentioned sucked!

It is funny that all the good teams have found all pros and future hall of famers in the second round and on in the draft while the Lions seem to find retards and assholes that they keep on the roster for 8 years as backups. Defense wins championships and until who ever is in charge of the Lions realize this they are doomed to failure. Drafting a QB with the first pick is foolish and stupid. If they keep the pick they need to take big Andre Smith LT from Alabama. Or trade out of it and move down to get some defensive help like Malaugua or Cushing out of USC. Two solid picks like this with Ernie Sims will bring much needed speed and agressivness to a sissy defense. Also they need to get away from that stupid tampa 2 horseshit and go with a 3-4 defense. Keep Culpepper and the big O for your qb and let Smith develop at RB and then build a stud defense.

I actually liked the hire of Jim Schwartz. he obviously had a lot of success in Tennessee, primarily on defense, and anyone who pays attention to winning teams knows that winning starts and ends with defense. Also, Linehan has had great success as a coach, just not as a head coach. He had great offenses as a coordinator. And cheer up, Mayhew seems somewhat intelligent, which is more than what you can say about Millen. I for one am looking forward to seeing how the Lions do in the draft.
