No, seriously, think he'd go for it now that he's available? I don't see any other NFL team signing him as head coach.

I hope your joking, the dude has never coached defense in his life. Also it is more than likely he will get an NFL job as a HC. Jets, 49ers, raiders... I think there are a few others looking for someone as well.

I think I read on mgoblog that Greg Robinson is rumored for the DC job. Unless I read it wrong.

haha, Gruden is an offensive minded coach. Might as well have said Mike Martz for defensive coordinator

Yeah, I've read that as well. I think people were just saying the he was in town and was interviewed for the job. He's just a candidate, alongwith a bunch of other guys I'm sure. I will be very surprised if we don't find out who the DC will be within a month.

No to gruden... he is all about scoring. Defense is a second thought to him.

DC Very doubtful. More like ABC, CBS, FOX, ESPN while he picks his next spot. He already turned down head coaching positions at ND and Tenessee.

What I could see happening is Gruden taking a season off - going to a Game Day type of analysis position for the NFL at a major network for a season.
I think what might be interesting is what happens NEXT season. Let's say that ND has another "average" year, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ND alums buy out Charlie and extend an offer to Gruden. My guess - ND alums are already talking to his agent.

Nice screwover on Gruden by TB. Wait until a number of NFL jobs were taken, and then fire him - what changed between the last day of the season and 3-4 wks later? He probably still has a shot at Denver, Dallas, and Indy

My feelings exactly. Yes, it was sort of a joke, sort of serious. I knew that he would not even be considered for the job, yet had no idea that he was 'offensive minded'. Seems that TB's defense was always better than their offense. Just my lack of knowledge. Thought it would start up an interesting thread. He did get screwed over in the fact that they waited this far along in the coaching searches to can him. Could he make cutler any better than Shanny did?

Tampa has to pay him for the next 3 years. He will not be in much of a hurry - like Cowher. I'm sure the Jets will possibly throw money at him - but I think he will sit out this year and see what is available next year.

I really dont expect to many NFL teams to beat down his door. Gruden is not that great of coach. College would be better for him.
