I hope the Lions don't waste this years draft pick and draft another qb or wide receiver. They need to rebuild from the ground up and sign servicable free agents for the qb position for the time being. They should spend the next 3 years drafting capable lineman that can block so than a first round draft choice qb has time to throw to all the wide receivers that they have drafted in the first round. Without lineman it does not matter who the qb, running back or wr's are. When the qb has no time to throw the ball the best qb and receivers in the world are nothing but a waste. The last first round qb, harrington had less than two seconds on each play to throw his first two seasons and was under a constant barrage of pressure. No young qb can develope under those cirumstances. If they are foolish enough to draft another qb the lions will continue to be cellar dwellers of the nfl. With a good line and a servicable rb and qb the lions could make the playoffs. With no line and a rookie qb and wide receiver that can't get open before the qb gets sacked we may go 0-16 again. I hope to god they are not this foolish. They need a line.

#1 overall money is a lot to pay for a lineman. Of course, paying top dollar for a QB only to have him Tim Couched isn't fun either. Like the Browns, the Lions should look to trade down and look to sign quantity. Problem is that nobody wants to have to pay all that money for a #1 pick. I would think KC wouldn't mind moving up to #1 from #3 and the Lions could still get a good OT.

The Lions should wait for a QB till next year when Tebow comes out. Then they will at least have someone who is a leader.. and who can withstand hit after hit after hit.

I think the lions need to build a line this year and give stanton a shot. He got such limited time last year you couldn't really judge his ability at the pro level. Give him some time back there with a line in front of him and a few games before you go hunting for the next franchise QB, because he has the possibility at least to turn into one.

they need to file chapter11, and if they can shhitcan ford..the ford family are a disgrace to the nfl , and if they cared about detroit as much as they say , ford would sell the team, his motto should be treat it like your family and put 100/percent in at all times, what a freekin joke they are. 50 freekin years of horsesshit, and ford says they care.. now their thinking of drafting a qb, most fans would be excited about getting the no 1 pick ,but detroit fans know it means nothing, after next season when the lions win 5 games the fords will be laughing their fat asssseeess off because of the stupid fans still going to the games, the lions are nothing more then a farm system for the rest of the nfl..

Michael Crabtree - everybody knows Detroit only drafts WR's in round 1.

Ah, I feel your pain ricky. I am a Bengals fan and Mike Brown is an absolute a-hole. He will never hire a GM and their scouting department is the smallest in the NFL.

Im a Buckeye fan (I think you all know that) , but if Cincy picks Beanie #1 (like people are talking about) they should be be banned from the NFL.

T-Beau is at best a third round pick and NFL scouts think he may be moved to another position. There are decent proven QB's out there, just look at Arizona. Detroit picked four QB's i can remember. Chuck Long of Iowa, never made it. We all know about Joey! Second round wasted pick on Drew Stanton, and don't forget that wonderful Huston QB, Andre Ware. Generally it takes so long to develop a rookie QB. Look at Matt Leinert!

Tebow will be a FB or TE in the pros.

Don't forget one of the worst picks ever, charlie batch over tom brady.

I couldn't agree with you more. I think it's a no-brainer that the Lions take ot Andre Smith with the first pick or if they trade down take the next best ot. Then pick another ot with the second pick in the first round or the next best dt/pass rusher.

You really don't need a great qb to have a huge turnaround or to make it to the Super Bowl. But you need to be great up front on both sides of the ball to have a huge turnaround or make it to the Super Bowl.

I think that would be a great move if the Lions only traded down two spots. And it's possible they could still get Andre Smith with the third overall pick or at least the next best ot.

But easier said than done. What would KC have to give up in order to do that? I would imagine they'd have to give up their second round pick plus more.

Larry Johnson wants out of there, but he's got a lot of money left on his contract. I believe Tony Gonzalez wants out to. Those are two older guys that still have some productivity left in them. I think these are the reasons that Pioli took the GM job in KC. They have some core talent and some potential to really put together a nice draft if they can swing a few trades.

I want to see with their first 3 picks (since they have 3 of the first 33), in any order: an OL, a LB , and a DB. Defense is huge on the pros, just look at Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, and NYG. I'd be interested to know which team had the best defense w/o making the playoffs. My guess would be that it was Tampa, who won 9 games which is not too shabby. Just my 2 cents.

It just seems year after year some cellar dweller team drafts some quarterback that will supposedly save their franchise. The guy starts his first year and gets sacked 50 times and is never the same again. I'm really in favor of more of a long term realistic approach. No college quarterback will ever be good enough to turn the lions around. If they are that stupid to draft another qb god help them they will never get better and it will be another year of wasted high draft picks. They don't need einstein for gm just somebody with a little common sense and understanding of how football works in the NFL. There is a reason most good college qb's don't make it in the NFL.

i dont care if you have tom brady and joe montania playing qb for detroit ,even at the same time ,this franchise will never be anything until the fuuucked up ford family sells them, their is no hope for that football team, you could give the lions every first round pick for the next 3 years and they would find a way to fuuuc it up .. i will never support those guys until william clay and his idiot son sell the team, and i grew up in the detroit area and have seen many games, fffuuuc the fords... that family would fuuc up a two car funeral ,even if they driving one of the cars...

The Lions are like the Browns. They have so many needs that one player cannot possibly help - no matter how good he is. If possible both teams should trade down and gobble up as many picks as possible.
