Let the media sing their songs. Rod has shown he doesn't care what they say, he is going to do his job the best way he knows how. Criticizing someone installing such a huge change in basic philosophy after one year doesn't really make much sense.

Time will tell.

This is irrelavent because Rich is not a rookie head coach being that he has head coached before at other schools.

Means nothing Don. I don't know if you watched it yesterday on College Football Live, but your boy Spielman seemed pretty confident that Michigan would be "Michigan" in time. I don't think any of us can appreciate just how much change took place last year.

The kid was a Michigan fan since he was a young child and always dreamed of being a Wolverine. Even so, he took a visit to Ohio State and said the choice was hard because he had so many friends at OSU. He will realize when he goes 0-4 against the Buckeyes that he made a mistake and attended the wrong school.

Not to be a nag or anything but it seems as though you don't know how to do the following:

1. Correctly use the word you're.

2. Know how to spell at least.

3. Make appropriate use of the period.

So before you critique osunuts grammar, you should probably check your own. ;)

Great first post,.

Let's get one thing straight here. If this poll were more in depth and not entirely based on wins and losses, you know damn well RR wouldn't have been #18. If they actually would have taken into account returning starters, first year players, talent level, among many other stats, then the "ranking" would have had some credibility.

So let me get this straight... you care what the MEDIA says? Oh wait,... I forgot you're a buckeye fan.... typical.

Can you really compare the adversity that the 2008 Michigan squad was up against to any of those other teams? I think not...

"Beyond the culture shock that came with a new staff and a new offense, Wolverine fans were forced to endure a 3-9 disaster, the worst campaign in the school’s storied history"

Seriously, "journalists" need a lesson in history and statistics. This was not the worst campaign in the school's history. Past teams did not play 12 game schedules, dummy.

Is the 2008 3-9 record worse than 1-7 records from 1934 and 1936? Only if basic math skills are beyond your grasp...

11 new starters? I don't buy that. Didn't Schilling, Ortmann, McAvoy, Hemmingway, Minor and Matthews all see a lot of PT in 2007?

And what other first year coach had the same amount of talent on defense as UM did?

Yet what other first year coach had the same amount of talent on defense as UM did?

Well, according to their defensive stats, 10 of those teams had better talent/execution. Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Navy, Nebraska, Duke, Southern Miss, Northern Illinois, Hawaii, West Virginia, and UCLA all had better defenses.

I think you were trying to make a point, I guess I missed it.

True UM had a nice d-line returning. But other than the line and Warren/Cissoko, who else??? No defense is good with only 6 guys contributing.

Gee, do you think they underachieved? There were high expectations for the D before the season started. I thought that there were 11 players on both sides of the ball contributing? According to the vast majority on this site the defense was going to carry the offense until they were more seasoned? Find anyone other than tOSU posters who predicted 3-9. The consensus was more like 8-4 or 7-5.

Got to agree with Dan. Not many predicted the 3-9 limbo season . RR had more talent on the field than Adjustments Rich". Sticking to the plan is great if it works. The Lions did that for 16 weeks.;)

Apologies, i butchered that. Meant to write,

"RR had more talent on the field than Toledo and NW, and still lost at home. Sticking to the plan is great if it works. The Lions did that for 16 weeks, with the same result. You have to make adjustments Rich.

Predictions = Hope with a dash of reality. Of course no UM fan is going to predict 3-9. Why? Because they see the best out of every game and every game is a better performance than the last. C'mon Don, you tuos fans keep thinking you're going to beat USC, or Texas, or any SEC team every year. I'd think by now you'd learn. Going off what you said, don't you think tuos underachieved???

Everyone was hoping the defense would carry the team and in a few cases they did, for parts of games. But, when the offense is as bad as it was, and the defense is on the field for the majority of the game, they're bound to give up points.

Yes last season was a major disappointment, no RR did not make any adjustments to his offensive scheme to match his talent, no he did not make any in game adjustments (the Big Ten as a whole, including Tressell strugle in the category).

However we must evaluate the man on his body of work once he has enough time in the program. I know last season was tough, being frustrated was an understatement. I snapped at people watching the games with me because it was tough to watch. However let him get a good QB in, let him get several recruiting classes under his belt. We will be fine.

Back to our usualy place in the Big Ten (which is squarley on top of oSU) and ahead of the rest.
