I know many of you are pretty into ESPN's various, arbitrary, b.s. rankings so I thought you might enjoy this. Um is #8 and OSU came in at #3.

I haven't checked that out but is that based on say the last few years of sucess for OSU?

I'm extremely biased, but I don't understand how Notre Dame can be above Michigan after nearly 20+ years of mediocrity.
The other idiotic thing IMO is that the poll only goes back to something like 1936 or whatever. Why? I don't understand it, all it does is give ND a huge advantage with their success in the 40's. (ESPN stated themselves that over 1/3 of ND's points came before 1950.)
I read somewhere they only counted UM as having 2 NC instead of 11 to, so that doesn't help. Whatever, it's ESPN.

I'd imagine we'll lose 3 or 4 recruits because of this "ranking".

Maybe they should have a more objective poll, like what teams have the most handsomest players...

tUOS is ranked #3? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh that is too funny. Just give me a second..............I have to stop laughing at this ESPN joke.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OK, OK ................i'm getting it together.
Part of the points must have included the number of total felonies by Buckeye players. Extra points were added for Woody slugging an opposing player...........boy, there's classic college football. More points for the Cooper years and let's give Tressel some major points for Florida, LSU, and Texas.

Kind of subjective but prestige is built history & tradition and Mich is definietly strong in those areas. However there should be slight weight added to the last 10-15 years.

Prestige:
1 : standing or estimation in the eyes of people : weight or credit in general opinion
2 : commanding position in people's minds
Some would contend that having your NC MVP sitting in jail doesn't lend to a high "standing or estimation in the eyes of people"

I think osu got 15 points for the woody hayes punch, then +2 points/couch thereafter.

Other categories in which OSU tops UM:
- % of fans whose knowledge of football records does not go back further than 1950
- % of fans/students who have no class
- Number of people who only became fans after they started competing nationally
- players that got paid
- coaches that take cheap shots on kids
- Gun rack totin', dip chewin', truck drivin', carhart wearin', mean and stupid som-bitches
- % of student body whose mother is actually their sister

what a freekin joke , are these the same morons that think florida has great tradition, this is a bunch of horse tressel, how about if i post my prestige rankings because thats all this is ,somones opinion, and to have ND up there is really pretty sad, or how about the largest pecker head rankings, that would be about the same thing..

I've noted repeatedly that wins accumulated in the horse and buggy era and before the invention of the forward pass should not count. 1936 is a good year to start because it coincides with the era in which modern day football began. If you omit these early seasons you have a much more accurate evaluation of program rankings.

And the fact OSU sucked before that:rolleyes:
It's MI fault we figured out how to be good before 1936:p

What, exactly, is so defining about 1936? Why not 1935? The 1930's in general? It's just idiotic to pick a year so obviously beneficial to a specific school (ND).
Not to mention Oklahoma is traditionally by FAR the most penalized team in college football, unless I'm mistaken. (in terms of violations, scholarships taken away, etc. not game penalties)
Any poll that does not have Notre Dame, Michigan, and Texas in it's top 3 no matter the order is retarded.

I think 1936 was the first year the AP started selecting a "national champion"
