The Buckeyes got incredible news yesterday. Tyler Moeller was granted a 6th year bt the NCAA. He will return in 2011 as the leader of the defense and assume his spot in the "Star" position. This is great news not only for the player who has been through so much and worked so hard to get back - but to the team who has really missed his leadership. Im glad I get to see the young man run around smacking people, with a smile on his face again.

To be fair i would have been surprised if the NCAA didn't allow this for him. I know they don't like giving the 6th year but given the circumstances I would have been surprised. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this the kid who got hurt when he got jumped or something and got a bottle smashed over his head etc. etc.?
I could be way off but I thought he missed a year because of some crazy injury from a weird circumstance. I feel good for the kid...even though it helps the osu defense...which I don't like you gotta feel good for the kid. I find the older I get the less I actually "hate" the young players and teh more I just hate the opposing institutions, coaches, fans, etc.
So I say good luck and congrats to him for getting the extra year.

Good news. His bad luck is equaled only by Greg Oden.
IMO Moeller was MVP of the defense before he got injured. He was all over the place making tackles. He is solid in coverage, and most importantly, he is always making plays! He is also great in pressuring the QB in blitzes (not as much Rolle or Homan). With Moeller and a healthy CJ Barnett and Bryant, along with Howard emerging as a solid CB, I think next year's secondary can be extremely dangerous.

So its okay for this guy to get a medical redshirt, but the freshman QB at Michigan who played about 10 plays then has a season-ending injury shouldn't be allowed one?

Just more good fortune for the Buckeyes - read it and weep Ricky boy. This kid had a legit injury - nobody knows what is wrong with Gardner, if anything. Im sure it would of been much bigger news had he had a season ending injury. I did not see Moeller dressing for games and warming up after his season ending injury.

getting a 6th year is almost unheard of and is bullshit , cheaters never prosper so maybe he will blow a knee .

Your absolutely right Ricky - "Cheaters never prosper" - that could be why Michigan has not won a thing since RR came to town. :)

I wish Moeller well.
And, while we're at it - I say the NCAA should grant another year of eligibility to the entire 1969 OSU defense. Maybe JT can use them for some inspriational play as well.

Funny you should mention that. Tress has had Jack Tatum, William (Tim) Anderson and Jim Stillwagon in as honorary coaches since taking the head coaching job.
It's great having a coach who understands the history of the program. And the history of the rivalry as well.

to be fair...I don't think UM needs inspiration...they need better players and experience

Don,
Are you implying that RR doesn't "get it" and he doesn't understand the history of Michigan's program and the OSU rivalry?
I assume you are - so, please correct me if my assumption is incorrect. I was also wondering if you knew that RR invited the entire '69 Michigan squad to a dinner with the team - so they could spend time directly with them. If you recall - that '69 Michigan team, an underdog, defeated the Buckeye team that Coach Hayes described as his best team ever.... yes, ever.
RR gets a lot more of the history and importance of the rivalry than you and many out there will ever give him credit for. It's a waste of time to try to persuade you otherwise. I wonder if you incessantly dwell on the past or ever look to the future.
