A lot of people share this opinion of Boise St. and TCU. However, this is where I think that Gee's opinion is flawed: I think those teams have done enough to earn bids in a playoff, but alas we have the bcs. We can fight and hope for change but we have to accept the system as is don't we?

Gee probably should keep those things to himself even if they are true.
ESPN in the link makes reference to Boise St. beating a Ranked Virginia Tech team but it was the first game for tech and they were TERRIBLE at the time to say the least. Va Tech lost the very next week to 1-AA James Madison????????
So though Va Tech has improved since then...we must admit that they were very AWFUL when Boise ST played them.
Boise St does play 8-9 of the worst teams in the country year in and year out ....definately teams from the lower half and mostly the bottom 1/3 of the 120 D-1 schools.
Boise St. will never get credit until they join a BCS conference like Utah has. We will see where that goes. Although the Pac 10 is not all that hot either lately.
BTW Boise ST is not exactly loaded with Idaho players many of USC's castoffs from California HSs signed with Boise over the last few years. Players that Fresno, UCLA, and CAL were getting are migrating toward Boise St's "Rock Star" Status in the media.
TCU has the same problem although I will say that the MWC has been a little better than the WAC in recent years {not so much this year however}.
Utah was highly ranked late in the season this year until they were EXPOSED by a mediocre Notre Dame team.
Gordon Gee may feel like he has license to talk about the those teams since he is from Utah and is a Mormon ????? LOL !!!!
I also agree with Gee that there is NO WAY Boise St. or TCU goes undefeated in either the Big Ten or the SEC.

I hate to admit it but the Buckeyes have not exactly played a murderer's row of a schedule this year either.
In three consecutive weeks this year, Alabama played at Arkansas, home vs. Florida and then at South Carolina. Boise State, TCU, Ohio State and everybody else would lose at least one of those games if they played that schedule. Auburn is having to play Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina (SEC Championship game) in three consecutive weeks to end their season.
I am pleased that Nebraska is joining the Big 10. I would rather lose one or two games and know that I played a brutal schedule than go undefeated against an easy schedule. The Big 10, with Nebraska and a conference championship game, is really going to be tough!

No doubt, but the big ten is a lot tougher than the wac or mountain west. Could Boise St. or TCU waltz through the big ten like their lame conferences?
But you're right, Nebraska is going to make our league all the better. Now if Michigan will step up soon, we can again be the premier conference in college football.

Florida ??? Really???? Arkansas is up and down ???
South Carolina is improved but I think the SEC as a whole has waned in last couple of years. Tennessee is terrible, Georgia is unpredictable and hardly a power. A Tebowless Florida is toothless. I don't know....they just don't impress like they did. They've had 1 team win the NC but the conference overall from 2 on down is not as good as it has been.
BUT both the BT and SEC conferences are STILL much tougher than the WAC or MWC.

This was funny
This is the douchebag who who keeps obstructing a college playoff system, and then disparages outside teams that are disadvantaged primarily because there is no playoff system. Nothing is more inspiring than those that glorify the status quo.
Under the BCS system, those teams should be overlooked in a handpicked 2 team NC game, they flat out don't play a strong enough schedule. But in a playoff system, I'd be comfortable to let them in as a lower seed and earn their way to an NC shot.

Gee is no more of a douche than the loser that hired RichRod but I have to admit that I agree with the second paragraph 100%.

I love how he shoved his foot right in his mouth. That should cost the buckeyes a few votes they might have got to move past wiscy if they do wind up winning a blowout this week. Nice job getting almost the entire CFB world upset at you. WTG noob! :)

this is why i keep saying the gravytrain days for ohio state and others in the big10 are over , you will need to earn your title instead of having it handed to you especially with adding a quality team like braska.

GEE (or Geek as we call him) is great for the university when it comes to improvements and support. He has backed all the upgrades in the teaching and sports facilities - but he does not know sports very well. He supports them but is overall knowledge is not very good. He onced called a tie with Michigan one of the greatest victories in Ohio State history. He is off base by talking about something he does not know much about. He is a very powerful man when it comes to NCAA athletics because Ohio State has the largest athletic program in the nation. He is 100% against a playoff system because the BCS has been good to Ohio State and it always comes down to $$$$$$$$.
In his defense though Ohio State was supposed to play TCU last year - and they backed out. The excuse was they did not want to travel a second time to the East Coast because they had already played at Virgina. They could have really gone a long way to end this argument if they played well or beat Ohio State at home. Instead they backed out and Ohio State was forced to scramble and get Navy to play us. TCU could of made 400 large and proved to the world that they were not only for real and were willing to play anybody, anywhere - those are hollow words to Buckeye fans.

I know OSU has suck schools like um bringing their schedule down. They need a school like TCU that can go 500+ in conf. play not some push over that everyone knows will roll over and play dead in conf play.

At least he is smart enough to realize he screwed up and shut up, I'll give him credit for that, plus this:
"As for the real Little Sisters of the Poor -- a Roman Catholic women's religious order serving the elderly -- Gee said he had reached out to one of the order's homes in Ohio.
"I sent a [personal] check to the Mother Superior up there and invited her to a ballgame," he said, according to the report."
Damn right you better cut them a check after that comment...

I find this part funny mostly because TCU just decided to move to the Big East permanently, so that argument no longer holds any weight. Maybe they were afraid as you said. I also agree with what many of you are saying about the OSU president though, he should have kept those comments to himself. Just because a lot of other people probably are thinking the same thing, doesn't mean that he was allowed to say it! And to the media no less.
