Tonight is the first round of the B10/ACC challenge and it is the true start of the basketball season. So far Northwestern has knocked off Georgia Tech, Ohio State is dueling with Florida State, and Michigan vs. Clemson is on next.
The history of this challenge is usually ACC domination but with a great win by Northwestern lets hope B10 can run away with this tourny!

Well that was a good first half by Michigan. Up 16 at half away vs. Clemson.

With Michigans win over Clemson that gives the B10 a 3-2 lead over the ACC in a race to 6. Tomorrow night some of the big boys play so with some key wins we might see the B10 walk away with the trophy for only the second time ever.
Good win tonight. Michigan is young and made some mistakes that I wish they hadnt but they also played some very good team basketball. This should be an exciting season for the Maize and Blue.

What I like so far about this years team is that it is a team. Lack of effort and selfishness doomed last years squad and they didnt get any better as the season progressed. Even though this years team isnt as physically talented they will put forth the kind of effort that will lead to some very good nights. Dont get me wrong this is not a team that will compete for a championship but it will at least compete on the floor every night.

I agree it amazing what happens when you give a coach time to put his system in. What will be fun to watch is how other teams defends our guards. They are not only big, but fast also. Morris is going to be a stud, and Smotrycz played well last night. Hardway Jr looks pretty good also.

I agree about the team aspect and the ball movement was VERY good in the first half. There were several comments about Michigan being a tough team in the conference and surprising a lot of people. It also seems like this team is pretty young and showing what they can do.
The Syracuse game showed they can play and compete with good teams, and I don't know what happened against UTEP. UTEP could be strong - and it could have been an off night - or both. In any case, hopefully, they'll surprise a lot of people this year - not only getting to the dance, but also winning two or three games once they get there.

This team is so young just getting to the dance would be a huge step.

They showed a stat during the Clemson game that Michigan has 13 underclassmen...thats the entire roster. Not 1 senior on this squad. We are by far the youngest team in the Big 10 that stat showed. That is just crazy. I like the players we have this year. Morris seems to be a good Pt guard who had good ball skills and can be a threat to score. And he is 6'5" so he is no small guard. Hardaway Jr. looks good, as does Smotrycz...I could see him being the next Kyle Siggler for Duke. Jordan Morgan is a force around the rim as well. All around, the seem sound and the best part is they are all Freshman and Sophmores. We should be able to win 18-21 game this year I think with 10-12 losses and finish middle of the pack in this deep conference.

With a Wisconsin win and Purdue beating VaTech in overtime, the Big Ten wraps up the challenge for the second year in a row, the second year of the 12 year old tourney. The B10 is a strong basketball conference, should be an interesting year.
