The Red Wings have just signed Henrik Zetterberg to a 12 year deal for $72 million. I'm glad that he was signed but I wasn't expecting 12 years. It looks like they can only sign Hossa or Franzen now, but who knows. What do you guys think?

I was surprised that it was a 12 year deal, but then the Wings are known for sticking with their players, and vice versa. I'd hate to chose between Hossa and Franzen, but I'd rather Hossa stay for the long haul, he is going to be Crosby-esque productive for the Wings in his second year in the system, watch out!

Wings just resigned Franzen to an 11 year deal. I don't know if they can sign Hossa now.

To a lessor extent, it is sort of like contemplating whether you'd rather have Yzerman or Federov back in 1996 or so. Federov put up better stats, but Yzerman was integral to the team. Hossa will score more goals, but Franzen is more important to the team, and should stay (if one had to go).
