New Hail Victors Banner

Well, I think it's time to freshen up the face of Hail Victors. We'll vote and this weekend, Ed, will post the new banner.

Thanks for doing these man, looks good. I'd pick banner 1 for now, though both of these look.....busy, and the 'Hail Vitors' doesn't really stick out. Just a thought.

Another idea: I'm also a proponent of banners featuring D players, they never seem to get the respect they deserve. Any banner with Branch walking away from Morelli, or Jamar Adams picking up Tebow like a rotten baby would get my vote :D.

I agree D players don't get the same respect that offensive players do. #2 has the important seniors for the '09 season. Brandon Graham (#55), Mathews (#13), Minor (#4), and Carlos Brown (#23). That was the first one I did. Yes, they're busy, but I don't think overly so. Thanks for your interest.

The blue looks too purple-ish on the second one. Maybe that can be altered and then it would be a closer call for me, but I think I would still like the first one better.

I'll try to make a third one incorporating the M Go Blue Banner Sign with the band in it. Give me some time, maybe tomorrow night.

I wanted to use current players, so I used 4 seniors for the '09 season

I like them both but chose #1.

I think it would look nice if the players in #2 were on the #1 background and place the #1 BLOCK M centered in the middle of players. Leave Hail Victors just the way it is in #1...

Also, take out Carlos Brown and add a defensive player behind Graham like Donovan Warren or Obi Ezeh (Away uniform if possible). That way 2 defensive players on the left and 2 offensive players on the right!

Is Um okay with you guys using their logo? I just don't want the Editor to get slapped with a hefty copyright infringement case. Universities are generally pretty protective of their intellectual property.

I'm going to go with the 2nd one (out of the original two). Some of the players do look like they're falling down in the first one, and the M logo is pretty plain. The M logo in #2 is much, much better. I might change my mind though if you switch the logos and take off that one far out player jumping up to the non-existent banner in #1.

I'll ignore #3 unless it's made an option. A good idea though for #1 and #3 would be to outline the "Hail Victors" text with the team color you didn't use for the primary color.

BTW, what program are you using? Gimp, Paintshop Pro, Photoshop?

Onyl when it comes to research work, trademark use is a bit lose. Besides, plenty of the blogging sites do it.

Just a little edit on #3. Desmond's jersey is a little too blue on the shoulder pads, needs to be more navy blue...Looks great otherwise!

I like #1 better. There's more to it. It seems like more of a team version with around twenty five guys charging. It's more moving to me. Plus there seems to be more picture cause the M block isn't blocking the field.

In picture #2 the M block seems to be too dominant by blocking the picture of the field. Plus Michigan has had too many great players to only have four in the picture. Whose to say only those four should be on there?

Photoshop. I just got it this past week, so I'm still learning it all.

#1 was just thrown together. The picture of them running out of the tunnel was cool, but it looks a little weird when you take the background out of it. Especially the guy high fiving no one.

#2 was the first one I did. I wanted to do something that was relevant to the '09 team. I thought it would be cool to be able to update the banner every year with the 4, 5, or 6 players that are most productive on the team.

#3 was a combination of ideas from others. Adding some of the great of UM's recent history.
