Former Ohio State offensive lineman Alex Boone has been arrested in California on several charges stemming from a drunken outburst. The story being reported during the 6pm news in Cleveland is that the police had to tazer him. The story said he was jumping on car hoods, pulling on a tow truck hook and other acts of demolision. Charges are pending and he is in custody.

Alex Boone has been the topic of many stories over the last year and this appears to be the cherry on top. The first report was that he along with a few other juniors showed up during the NC game practice hung over in Louisiana. He also showed a carefree attitude during the offseason workouts and was bypassed as a team captain in this his senior season. His play has slacked off the last two seasons as well. This will hurt his already dropping NFL draft status. Once projected as a 1st rounder he will be lucky if he goes the first day.

He has a long way to go now to overcome the choices he has made in the last few years. Many wish he had gone to the NFL last year.

Such a waste, you wonder what these kids are thinking. The rest of us are working just to keep the food on the table and these kids have the world by the tail and they piss it away. I hope this kid can get his head out of his butt and get his life in order.

He was considered as good or better then Long at one time. While Long kept working hard (even on a bad team) at his craft, Boone began to F off after his freshman season. He is a perfect example of a person who reads his press clippings and gets a big head because of his early sucess. He was going to be a shoe in as a team captain before his junior year. He failed to lead by example and in doing so lost the confidence and support of his teamates. There have been several stories about Boone's work ethic and lack there of floating around. You never want to think its true - but normally where there is smoke there is fire.

I as well just hope that he gets his head out of his ass in time to salvage some kind of career in the NFL.

Kid never had his head on right. To be a 3-year starter and a 4-year contributor but not be elected captain by your teammates pretty much says it all. Boone was bigger and more talented than anyone in high school but never understood that you actually have to work to be better in college. Addition by subtraction.

Sorry to hear this about Boone. Everyone thought he had turned things around.

For every bad story, there's a good one. This is a story I found on Scout:

Afternoon all,

I am a member of LSU's Scout.com site and thought y'all might like to hear about my experience with Coach Tressel. Because of this experience, I am now a Buckeye fan...except when we meet in another National Title Game! Good luck to your team next season.

I volunteer coach a middle school football team here in St. Louis and was recently allowed to tag along with the high school coaching staff to the local Nike Coaching Clinic.

Let me preface this all by saying that I am merely a volunteer middle school football coach. The reason I coach 7th and 8th grade is because that is the last age that kids know less about football than I do!

While Bob Stoops gave a pretty impressive presentation on creating pressure with the 3-4 defense, the highlight of the clinic was the presentation by Jim Tressel.

The title of his speech was "Installing a Comprehensive Offense." However, he spent over an hour and a half speaking about how to coach, motivate, and teach. He did not talk about a single offensive formation or play. Rather, he spoke about how to lead and how to be an effective coach. Truthfully, most of what he said could be applied to any endeavor.

We hear so much negativity about the college game, and some of it is well-deserved. However, Coach Tressel reminded me that there are coaches, who realize that the game of football can mold young adults into productive men of integrity. I think it was Coach Paul Dietzel that once said "You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life."

Sorry for the ramblings but Coach Tressel's speech was absolutely impressive. I now understand how he recruits so well. He comes across as a leader of men and someone who genuinely has his players best interests at heart.

I would have run through a brick wall for him after the speech...

Sounds like 'roid rage. Guess the systematic doping at OSU has some side effects.

Jumping on car hoods, pulling on a tow truck hook and other acts of demolition? If he were in New York City, perhaps “King Kong” Boone would have began climbing the Empire State Building and swatting at bi-planes.

Just another kid whose parents sent him to Columbus under the care of Tressel, and he not only failed to grow as a person, but left the program a bigger mess morally (and legally) than when he arrived.

Save the bullsh*t "good story" on this thread. Another tUOS kid falls into the huge scrapheap of underachievement and moral bankruptcy that comes with failing to enforce discipline and accountability on young men. His story could have been different, if the objective was to develop the kid instead of trying to win games.

Maybe if Tressel had suspended him as a freshman when he chugged a case of beer and smashed into another car, Boone would have learned a lesson about doing the right thing. Instead, JT let it slide and did not punish him - look at the results. It is a lucky thing that the big ape didn't kill someone.

As your ohio state hero cris spielman said , and i quote from 1460 the fan , ohio state doesnt do enough to stop these things from happening, and really they dont do anything , if this kid were a regular student at ohio state ,he would be suspended for 1 quarter, the coaching staff at ohio state need to look at how they take care of these things because what they are doing now ,doesnt work, he didnt bash tressel ,atleast to the point of saying he was to blame , but lets face it ,jim tressel really thinks more of winning football games than doing the right thing with players that continue to get in trouble at ohio state, tressels motto is play first and deal with these things later or never... How many players have been arrested at ohio state under tressel, 32, tressels a freekin joke
