Will Sparty be going to The Dance?

I just saw that Purdue put on a show in East Lansing against the Spartans. This is not a good result for Mr. Izzo and his team. MSU is 4-7 in their last 11 with two games remaining - hosting Iowa and against Michigan. They could win their last two - or they could split (with - fingers crossed - a loss to Michigan).

If Michigan wins next Saturday -assuming MSU defeats Iowa - both MSU and Michigan will have 9-9 records in conference play. And, I think that Michigan would draw the higher seed because of a better non-conference record and head to head results.

Does this loss put Sparty on the bubble?

michigan wins they will go to the big dance , how can you put msu in there if michigan has beat them twice, sounds to me like izzo needs some ooozo, and beer. msu better get used to being back on the bottom with michigan , i know this the freekin football team is going to get the shit beat out of them by meeechigan next fall .

Its an interesting question for sure. I would find it hard to put MSU in the dance with the resume they have. I mean the team has just completely fallen apart this season and it started happening way before whats his face got booted off the team. Sparty still has some glitter just for being Sparty but MSU is no good this year and should not be in the tournament.

Sparty is already on the bubble according to everything I'm reading. If they lose to UM they just might be out especially after such a bad loss to Purdue. I think a UM win over MSU puts them in the tourny barring a flame out in the B10 tourney.

I just looked at the polls - and Sparty has a total of 0 points / votes in the coaches and AP polls combined. Granted, Michigan doesn't have any points / votes either - but, the last ten games look a lot better for the Wolverines than they do for Sparty.

This season is eerily similar to the 08-09 season for Michigan. All the Wolverines have to do is win and they are in, its not exactly a simple thing in the B10 but with Hardaway on fire and guys like Jordan Morgan and Evan Smotrycz stepping up this team is poised to make that happen.

As for MSU, they fell apart this season. The team is chock full of talent but the chemistry just isnt there and this team has fallen by the wayside in the B10. Im a little surprised to see this from an Izzo coached team but chemistry is a big part of a teams success. I think that for MSU to make the dance they need to not just beat Michigan and win 1 B10 tourney game. MSU is going to need to damn near win the tournament if they want to make the NCAA tourney. I mean what has this team done to impress voters? Nothing. They have lost to just about everyone, hell MSU made Iowa look like a top contender in the B10.

MSU will get in. A Michigan team with that lousy resume would never get in. I just hope Michigan keeps on pounding sparty. Especially since Izzo doesn't think it is a rivalry.

Signature wins against Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin.
Swept by UM, bad losses against PSU and Iowa.
5-5 in their last 10 games.

I could be wrong and they make squeak in, but if they lose to Iowa in the B1G conference opener they are done. If they can advance at least a round or 2 they may still have a shot but at this point they're on life support.

I do think that Sparty's win over Purdue got them in - and, with a win today over PSU, I think it's more than a lock. It's not the record this year, but their tournament history under Izzo that will ensure they're in.

Can'tonio will welcome them back with open arms. He doesn't keep convicts off the team.
