Good find Rock. Hope that guy knows what's up. Adding Denard, Whitty, Stokes to the class would put UM near a top5 finish. Not bad after going 3-9.

i know why we are going after whitty ( to get robinson)
but why do people seem so excited over a **, granted we need help in the secondary. Are people excited we might get him just because denard robinson is coming with him? or do you guys know something about him that i dont?

Witty got injured and didn't play much his senior year. He had a standout junior year and his offers were set to explode in his senior season.

Edit: I checked again, he missed part of his junior and senior seasons due to injury.

Yep, he's a bit of a gamble just because he's been injured. But, his ceiling is pretty high. Apparently, the kid can fly.

Well, I'll take a stab at it and if any of you guys disagree, feel free to set me straight.

Pearlie Graves - family wants him at UM. 60%
Jeron Stokes - last couple of days, I'd say Illinois was the team. But, you never know. Two weeks ago, he was damn near a UM lock. 50%
Dequinta Jones - 80%. Just a hunch.
Witty - 90%
Robinson - I'd say UM is the team to beat. Having Witty commit to UM should help with Denard. 50%

There might be another recruit that we don't know about. Apparently, there were a couple snake oils last year. You never know.

Anyway, good class so far. This just gets me excited for the upcoming season. I can't wait to hear about spring practices.

I think landing Robinson would be huge. Him and Forcier could be a deadly combo. I watched Robinson's youtube video and that kid has the tools for sure!

Just found this on rivals:

Rivals provides a helpful timeline for Signing Day announcements:

9:00 AM – Pearlie Graves LOI. (Presser at noon, so we might not be 100% until then but in all likelihood we'll know good or bad by then.)

11:00 AM – Deerfield Beach duo (Denard Robinson and Adrian Witty) announce.

1:30 PM – DeQuinta Jones announces and sends in LOI.

3:30 PM – Je'Ron Stokes (tentative) announces.

No word on Je'Ron Stokes, but that's looking decidedly unfriendly about now. [UPDATE: apparently it's 3:30 and we might not be dead. Viva recruiting!] Quinton Washington already committed and Sam Montgomery already cut M, so those five are the only guys we're waiting on unless there's some sleeper or snake oil going on.

Just found this on rivals:

What about this guy talking to Ricardo Miller on Facebook about some unexpected Florida recruits for the 2009 class....

http://mgoblog.com/content/fwiw-ricardo-miller-says

FWIW, Ricardo Miller says this...

I recently had a facebook conversation with Ricardo. First things first, he had this to say: "i appreciate the love from the michigan fans and i wont disappoint any of the fans by decommtting. Am here to stay cause am a michigan man an michigan is WHERE I WANT TO BE!"

Next, I kind of jokingly suggested he bring more Florida kids to Michigan for the 2009 class. He replied: "i already got a few on the way in our 2009 class as we speak" and "the five michigan got arent included!!! so yea i am recruitin hard but u guys will find out soon enough who i got"

Take that all however you want. Basically, he hinted that there's more Florida kids on the way for 2009.

Apparently has some grade issues and will not sign with Illinois. Michigan is in the mix. He's from Taft High School here in Cincinnati (sh!t school may I add)...3* DE on Rivals...

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/bigten/0-2-1212/Illini-lose-Carradine--Michigan-wants-Washington.html

Illini lose Carradine, Michigan wants Washington

Defensive end Cornelius "Tank" Carradine won't sign Wednesday with Illinois after committing to the school back in November, Bob Asmussen writes in The (Champaign) News-Gazette. Academic issues forced Carradine elsewhere, and he's looking at Michigan, Cincinnati, NC State and Kentucky.

It will be an interesting signing day for Illinois, which hopes to retain top wide receiver Terry Hawthorne and a class that should once again rank in the nation's Top 25.

As signing day approaches, here are some quick Big Ten items regarding recruiting and other matters:

Michigan expects to land top offensive line prospect Quinton Washington on Wednesday, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports. South Carolina and Miami are also in the mix for Washington, ranked No. 82 in the ESPNU 150.

Penn State defensive tackle Abe Koroma and former Lions defensive end Maurice Evans will serve a year's probation after being charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession in September. Both players can have the charges removed from their records if they complete a program for first-time offenders.

Northwestern linebacker Malcolm Arrington was denied a medical hardship after sustaining a knee injury in Week 8 last fall. Arrington, the team's top linebacker, had hoped for a sixth season with the Wildcats.

Sorry this is a little late, but Michigan State added to its strong 2009 recruiting class with safety Jairus Jones, the son of former Detroit Lions running back James Jones. Jairus Jones committed during the weekend.

Iowa's state Board of Regents approved plans for a new drainage system at Kinnick Stadium and FieldTurf to replace natural grass as the playing surface. Iowa will become the seventh Big Ten member with FieldTurf as its home playing surface. The cost is estimated at slightly more than $2 million.

"Our staff has been looking at alternatives and options the past couple years as the drainage in Kinnick has grown progressively worse," Iowa athletic director Gary Barta said in a statement. "It reached a point of critical concern this year prior to our game against Iowa State. We brought in engineers to conduct additional studies and realized our only option is to replace the drainage system that is now 20 years old."

Wisconsin's disappointing 2008 season didn't turn off commits or top in-state prospects, Tom Mulhern writes in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Maybe Jelani Jenkins??? Highly unlikely since he never visited...

http://mgoblog.com/content/visitors-who-didnt-commit-michigan

Visitors who didn't commit to Michigan

According to Sam Webb we might have some possible surprise commits. I would think that recruits most likely would not commit to Michigan unless they visit it first. Here is a list of recruits that visited Michigan and are not early enrolled at other schools.

(DE) Jason Ankrah-Nebraska commit
(OT) Travis Bond- NC commit
(WR) Willie Haulstead- FSU- He recently committed to FSU
(S) Donovan Tate- NC commit
(WR) Jamal Patterson-Stanford
(WR) Travante Stallworth-Auburn- Recently committed to Auburn
(OG) Stan Hasiak- Cal

For some reason I think it could be a UNC guy because they have 3 OT's and 5 safties in their class just this year. But I also heard that Stan Hasiak has some family that lives close to Michigan.

Reasons to get STOKED up

Sam Webb got a call from a Comcast guy about the schedule tomorrow and JeRon Stokes will be announcing between 3:15 and 3:20 tomorrow. And from the tone of the Comcast guy, it's looks very likely that it's gonna be a bright BLUE MEEEEECHIGAN signing day!!

I'm reading on mgoblog that DeQuinta Jones is leaning towards Arkansas? Sam thought he would be a Wolverine...

http://www.bastropenterprise.com/sports/x1851001266/Jones-leaning-toward-Arkansas

Bastrop, La. -

Bastrop defensive tackle D.D. Jones said Tuesday night that he is leaning towards signing with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Wednesday marks the first day that high school seniors are allowed to sign college football scholarships. Bastrop High will hold a National Signing Day ceremony on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

Although Jones has not ruled out Tennessee and Michigan, he says he expects to join the Razorbacks.

“I could change my mind, but I’m leaning towards Arkansas. I’ll make a final decision (Wednesday),” said Jones, who took an official visit to Auburn in addition to Arkansas, Tennessee and Michigan. “Basically, I like everything about Arkansas. I really like the coaching staff.”

If Jones has an 11th-hour change of heart, Tennessee would appear to have the inside track.

“I want to play SEC ball,” Jones said. “That’s what I grew up watching.”

Jones (6-4, 294) is rated as the No. 25 defensive tackle prospect in the nation by rivals.com. He originally committed to Michigan.

A two-year starter and a three-year letterman for the Rams, Jones earned All-State recognition after logging 58 tackles, 10 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, two sacks and forcing three fumbles.

As a junior, Jones recorded 81 tackles and four sacks in helping the Rams to their third consecutive state championship and a No. 13 national ranking.

A spot starter as a sophomore, Jones was in on 58 tackles, with three sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Jones began his career at Delta, starting as a freshman, prior to the consolidation of Morehouse Parish’s two public schools.

Jones’ older brother, former Ram and Delta Mustang Deddrick Jones, is now a starting defensive end at Southern Mississippi.

It would be a bummer to lose Jones in the 11th hour, especially since no one saw Arkansas as a threat. I re-read the posting on Varsity Blue about the announce time on Robinson, here is what it says:

http://www.umvarsityblue.com/
As mentioned before, Adrian Witty’s conference is at 11 (it should be the first of the day). Denard Robinson will either announce then or wait until 7PM. SoFlaFootball’s Luke Stampini thinks Michigan leads for Robinson, with Florida gaining. http://www.soflafootball.com/feature/where-will-they-sign
