The whole starting offense is back for 2009. Remember, it is as though they were all freshmen (and many were) since they all had to learn a new system. They now have experience. The big change and difference will be at the QB position.

The one loss that could still happen is McGuffie. I think if he decides to we should hear something before too long, probably by the time bowl season is over.

Wasn't that rumor put to rest around the OSU game? Unless you're talking about concussions.

Didnt Robinson get hurt before the season started?

Yes. T-Rob hurt his knee during spring ball.

What was settled was that he was going to be at the tuos game. Everyone jumped to conclusions again and decided that meant he was staying for good. The kid still has a lot of stuff to sort out. I'm sure we'll find out what going on in the next few weeks. If you don't hear anything, then I would think that's a good sign he's staying.

I would think that he wouldn't have come back, or RR would have let him come back, if there was even the chance of him leaving. I agree, we are just going to have to wait and see.

If the rumors were true before the tuos game that he wanted to leave, RR could have talked to him and told him to take some time and think about his decision. Take care of the family issues, finish up the semester, and if you still feel the same way, then transfer. I just think there was no need to rush the decision.

I agree, but I just don't see RR having him come back for the game. If that is the case I see RR saying just figure out what you need and go from there.

To me, having him at the game is a clear indication that the rumors were true. This is the greatest rivalry is sports and he wanted Sam to get a taste of it, hoping he would love it, and want to stay. That's my take on the situation anyway. Unfortunately, one play, one concussion, ten medical doctors, was pretty much the lasting memories for Sam I'm sure.
That being said, I think the majority of us here want to see Sam at a receiver position. Somewhere he can use his speed.

I would like to see what he can do with the ball in space, so I agree at this time slot is probably best for him.

A lot of people tend to think that Shaw is much better than McGuffie, and I don't agree. McGuffie is more of a mismatch because of his diverse talents IMO. I thought the two were about the same running the ball. People described Shaw as more "fluid" on that one 40 yard run he had a while back, and all I saw was a nervous freshman juking at non-existent defenders.

I think that they both have their merits. I would hate to see Sam go, he is a talent that makes us a better team.

I wanna see Sam blowing by dbs on route to a 70 yd. td catch.
Shaw, to me, could be a Minor type runner. He's got some speed, can change direction pretty good, and can deliver a hit. I think with some added weight, Shaw will be a bruiser just like Minor. The kid was obviously nervous a points during the season. It's a tough situation for a freshman. Over the course of the season, he got some good experience, but he was never able to build confidence because he only got 2 carries a game at best.

That's why I don't get why people say Shaw is better then McGuffie. Shaw hasn't had enough carries to accurately compare him to McGuffie yet, or really rate him at all. McGuffie was the featured back long enough to prove his value. At this point we don't know which one will be better yet, but I like the fact that McGuffie is a receiving threat.

I agree, from what I have seen Sam is a more versatile player. I hope that he stays at Michigan.

Sam just goes down on first contact. Shaw looks like he's going somewhere when he runs. He doesn't go down on first contact, it takes a couple guys to get him down. Sam has shown the ability to catch the ball. That's why I want to see him in the slot. Wes Welker type player. We haven't seen Shaw's catching ability for a couple reasons, he can't catch so RR doesn't call any passing plays when he is in, or he just hasn't had the opportunity.
I'm all for Sam remaining at RB as long as he can break some tackles and stop getting knicked up with concussions. Put him in the slot, we've already got a bunch of RBs.

I agree. Sam in the slot, Shaw at RB. I liked what I saw from Minor in the second half of the season. I'm looking forward to seeing what Minor can do next year, behind an O line with more experience and a QB whose arm forces D's to respect the pass.

Sam just seems like a better fit for the slot. Match him up against DB's and let him dance around them. The concussions should decrease with blows coming from 180lb DB's instead of 225+lb LB's and 270+lb DL...
