said threet will make his intentions known tomorrow, sounds like he is gone and going to sit out a year and go to EMU. Getting better, still coughing up my nuts though

That must mean Tate Forcier is looking very good right now! That would be the only reason I can think of Threet transferring, Tate must be taking his job...

Sounds about right. I cannot help but wonder if this is the right thing for him though. He would have sat out two years by the time he finally plays again, and the one year he played he lost the starting job to a walk-on. But good luck kid!

Either that or RR is set on Tate/Denard starting and isn't giving Threet a fair shake.

I doubt RR would declare a starter/favorite given that spring practices haven't even started, no?

He doesn't have to declare anything. It could be just that Threet is reading the writing on the wall. Maybe the coaches are acting a little different around Threet than last year. He's not getting as much "love" from the coaches. Could be anything.

The good news about him leaving is that there will be more room on the roster for quarterbacks that fit this system. The bad news is we will have no depth at the qb position.

First it was Mallet now Threet. What is it with RR chasing the only experienced QB you have out of town. You guys had better hope a true freshman is ready to carry the load if Threet leaves. Saying you can do something is a lot easier then doing it. tate may be writing checks with his mouth that his talent can't cash.

I do think this is bad if true, I had a feeling that Threet might start the season with Tate coming in 5-6 plays per game to get his feet wet. I figured Tate would then be starting by 4-5th game of the season. But if Threet is gone, then we have no choice but to start a true freshman. Who knows, maybe Tate is picking up things quickly ass far as the playbook goes and he is ahead of schedule and Threet see's this. We can only hope and pray that Tate is ahead of schedule because if I ever have to see Sheridan on the field at QB for us again I may just have to jump off of a bridge...

Trolling 101:
1) If Threet stays, then Michigan loses because the kid that led them to a 3-9 record plays QB this year.
2) If Threet leaves, RR is an evil anti-family-values villian who drove away yet another kid from the program.
My, no matter what happens, it is bad for Michigan, who saw that coming? Your credibility = zero.

Well said, here is an exact quote from Nut in the Forcier vs. Robinson thread...
If Threet starts then the two QB's that you got this year are highly overated. What would be the benifit of playing Threet if he is not going to be the man. The Buckeyes gave Todd Boeckman the lions share of the snaps in the whole offseason - that led TP to play catch up all year. Michigan cannot win with Threet and it will hurt the team long term if he is the starter. Both the kids you had this year were horrible and they did not improve much if any all season. The two kids coming in should be as good as them already.
So according to you Nut, Michigan will benefit from Threet transferring?!?! Make up your mind...

You should be more concerned about your QB, and how he's going to perform in September at Bucknuts Stadium.

You should wait untill you see the kid play a bit before you chase away the only experinced QB you have. Threet may not be the future but he has value. He sure would be nice to bring in off the bench when your starter gets hurt. I bet RR wishes he had Mallet last year.

Keep tippy toeing around your different values. Michigan can't win with Threet and Michigan can't win without him.
Michigan can't win period...We will just see about that. Threet would be holding a clipboard or sending in signals in the near future so why not try a school that has a traditional drop back passing QB. Best of luck to Mallett and Threet but neither of them FIT THIS SYSTEM! Why delay the process...Just stop with your bias views towards Michigan, they hold no weight!

I am wiliing to bet that Coach Rod sat down with Steve and told him straight up that there wont be a starting position for him longterm. Think about it! Would Threet even be at UM last year if Rodriguez had been there the year before? I dont fault Threet and I dont think coach is in the wrong for not lying to a kid. Threet has intentions on playing on Sundays so it would be a smart choice for him to go. Good luck Steve

I definitely believe that the DBL R spoke with Threet about his options and what the program is looking to do this coming season and beyond....but I also think that Threet is valuable to the program, but only short term....with maturity in about nine months.
So if football is 1st priority, then playing for English....or a similar program would be the best option for him right now.

I think you're right Mike, but I also think that Threet, being a smart kid, and being there with Tate now in town, saw what he was up against and knew that he had no chance in being the starter.
Unlike Nut, I think this is a very very good sign leading into spring practice. Had the converse been coming out of Ann Arbor, i.e., Threet saying, "I think I am the starter and it's my job to lose..." we'd all be questioning Tate's ability. But this news is basically the ONLY experienced QB Michigan has saying this kid is the real deal. Threet wouldn't leave for any other reason, IMO. Plus, he probably saw some film of DRob and knew that he probably wasn't even going to the second strong QB, so he made his decision.
I wish him luck, if this is in fact true. I think the kid has a great deal of heart and is willing to work hard, and those are very good qualities to have in a QB.

Michigan also has Nick Sheridan for experience. He played just as much as Threet and had the best complete game as a QB vs. Minnesota. Neither QB was great so Tate and Denard definitely had a great opportunity to come in and compete right away. Threet sees that and knows he's up against guys that had a lot of success running this system in high school. Nothing wrong with a kid transferring to help his football career, he wouldn't be starting at Michigan long...

I am with you on this one Sten. I think it is an indication of the skill Rodriguez has recruited at QB. I never held any illusions of Threet being the starter but considering how he handled himself last year I was hoping he would be able to mentor Tate and Denard. Eh, it will be interesting to see where he chooses to go. Does he stick with D-I or does he drop down?
