I know this is OSU week, and football is the number one priority right now, but how about that basketball team! Michigan defeated #8 Memphis 73-61 in the opening round of the Maui Invitational, and play the winner of Duke/Tennessee tomorrow. I have to say that I wasn't too confident going into this tournament, especially after their lackluster performance a few days ago. They proved me wrong.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is picking up right where he left off last season, and Trey Burke looks to be able to fill the hole left by Darius Morris very nicely. I love how they play, as a TEAM. Things are only going to get better with the recruits Beilein is bringing in, and I am so excited for Michigan basketball. Michigan athletics has a very exciting future ahead of them. GO BLUE!

Just got done watching the game on DVR. Holy shit, what an awesome game! Obviously football is king at Michigan, but I tell you what, its cool to see Michigan basketball be relavent again. I get into the basketball games almost as much as the football games! This team has a lot of talent and can really make a push for the Big 10 title if they stay playing as a team like they are now. Huge win over a quality top 10 opponet today. Did Duke win? I haven't seen the score of that game yet? I want Duke in the 2nd round and I bet the entire team wants them as well for payback from the 2nd round of the NCAA's last year where we almost pulled the upset of the tourney. Trey Burke is a stud, but we have to remeber he is only a freshman so he will make mistakes. Hardaway Jr. is a terrific swing man, Smotrich (spelling) is a quality shooting from outside to compliment Novak and Douglas. Jordan Morgan is tough down low if he can manage to stay out of foul trouble. With that #2 recruit coming in next year, wow watch out for Michigan basketball over the next few years!

Tough loss against Duke, but I am very confident about this year's team. Duke was ridiculous with the 3's, and it seemed like every shot went in. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the better team. Michigan played pretty sloppy in the first half, but came back in the second fighting until the end. Burke is really really good, and Michigan really doesn't even miss Morris.

I do agree UM is looking pretty good despite the losses (interesting that their last 2 losses are against Duke) and that Burke is the real deal. But I'm sure having Morris right now would have to be a positive in some way. WOnder if he's having 2nd thoughts now with the strike.
Anyways, looking forward to the season. Looks like they'll be better than we hoped but I'm sure there will be a heartbreak loss or 2 throughout the season and hopefully some big wins.

I tried to watch the game but was able to because those ugly ass blue shoes and socks hurt my eyes. Is Michigan changing its uniform color - YUCK. It looked like the circus was in town.

Those shoes were ugly as hell. I think it was something that most of the teams in this tournament were doing. Kansas was wearing the same things and so was UCLA.

Great, this guy's face was on the side of a milk carton when tUOS was stinking up the conference each week, now that tUOS is hiring Meyer, he is quite the chatty one. Once Meyer makes his first visit to the ER with chest pains, I expect the reality of it all will hit you like a ton of bricks...

I have not gone anywhere. I just happen to be home for Thanksgiving. Back to work Friday.
