Montana shines in DeBartolo Festival
The DeBartolo Football Festival featured more than 1,000 athletes, coaches and parents at Citrus College Stadium in Los Angeles. Athletes can from Michigan, New Jersey, Vermont, Arizona, Washington, Wisconsin, Texas and across the state of California to take part in the three-day event.
It started on Friday night with a skills challenge for the quarterbacks, wide receivers and big men. Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and linemen would undergo a series of tests to determine who the top performer at each respective positions and here were the best by group.
Breakdown by groups
Quarterbacks
Nick Montana was one of the most, if not the most, mechanically polished quarterbacks in attendance. He exhibited tremendous confidence in his drops and throws and his display of arm strength and footwork reinforced his position as one of the nation's premier passers.
Not bad for a guy trying to get by on his old mans last name.

That's good. I heard that his arm strength wasn't that great so this is reassuring. I hope he's good and likes OSU because if either of those don't break OSU's way, it's going to be a big problem.

Connor Wood just committed to Texas, that means they already have 2 QB commits for 2010. Significant because according to Scout, Texas and tOSU are on his short list.

I just took a look at this festival's website (http://www.debartolofootballacademy.com/news/view/240) and found the following results:
Quarterbacks:
Target Drill:
Will Harrity – 100 points
James Crook – 100 points
Anthony Neyer – 100 points
QB Footwork:
Zack Gauthier – 38 reps
Obstacle Course:
Michael Morgan – 22.93 seconds
Long Toss:
Jesse Scroggins – 63 yards
Uhhh...I don't see Montana winning any of the events. WTF???

What was the final score of the Michigan game this year. TP played pretty well and even threw the ball. You just show how ignorant you are by saying he is not any good. The kid will be a Heisman canidate. If not this year then soon. Tate will be lucky to start. Like I said before if RR had got TP - Tate never sniffs the field, period.
Your just mad because he led you guys to think you had a shot at him. Remember Ricky: "Pryor is coming to AA, book it". Your a joke. While Pryor is leaving guys in his wake you will be watching your next best thing QB try to cash checks his ability cannot cover. Enjoy another crappy year and a beating by OSU in your own house.

Honestly, after watching him play in the USC, Penn St, and Texas games, my regret over losing him disappeared. Especially when he started crying like a little girl after the PSU game - keep him, and good luck with those herky-jerky throwing mechanics and his instinct to run out of bounds and avoid a hit rather than get the 1st down.

That settles it you are an OSU fan. You claim to like D1 schools in Michigan yet almost every post you make slams UM and I never see anything about MSU. Yet I never see you say anything bad about OSU, only nice comments. No self-respecting MSU or UM fan will make nice comments about OSU on a consistent basis.

Nut and Don,
Personally, I don't think he's got everything that he needs to be a QB like his dad. I do think that Bama likes "names" - one of the reasons why they hired Mike Shula to be the HC. Personally, I believe they gave Shula the shaft - and recovering from their "recruiting problems" and "sanctions" was just one thing they had to overcome.
So, recruiting a "Montana" for "Bama" - you know... you just absolutely know that the alumni down there will go bonkers over getting a name like that - after all, they wanted to get Daddy Joe to play for the NFL franchise in Alabama after he finished his tour with the 49ers' - but, there was one small problem - Alabama doesn't have an NFL franchise.
And - Nut / Don, just so I can be perfectly clear. Though I don't think that the younger Montana has all the skills necessary to compete at the highest level of college football, I don't think he sucks. You two, on the other hand, do suck, and you do a great job at it...

You made it perfectly clear that your post is absolutely worthless. And of course he doesn't suck. You don't get offered this early by Alabama, Florida State, LSU, South Carolina, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Stanford, etc. based on your last name only.
And thank you also for your stellar recruiting analysis. He's had only his junior year to "show off" and just now is getting on the national rating services radar.

Don,
Sorry - I've got to disagree about this. Sure - Nick Montana's got a name. But, why would he be ranked so highly? Perhaps you have insight that I don't have. But, besides playing at the "celebrity high school" in Southern Cal, I don't see anything that is really remarkable or special. Perhaps you do - it's your prerogative...

silverpuss, i dont recall anyone saying that michigan had great qbees last season, maybe you misunderstood what i have been saying ,its your qbees that cant pass , your the fans that were knocking todd boeckmen all season and your also the fans that were tooting your horn for pryor ,when the facts are the kid cant pass, and he doesnt have very good field awareness , most of the texas game when your team needed 6 yards on third down ,he would run out of bounds 1 yard short ,how many times did you flip out over your great qb for doing that, , i watched the game with all osu fans and the entire game they bitched at tressel and your hero pryor , come to think of it ,TRESSEL DOESNT HAVE VERY GOOD FIELD AWARENESS, ,BUT THEN AGAIN MOST OF THE TIME HIS HEAD IS UP HIS ASS , SO THAT WOULD EXPLAIN IT. YOU CANT RANT AND RAVE ALL YOU WANT ABOUT NICK MONTANA , THE ONLY THING YOUR TELLIN ME IS YOU DONT HAVE FAITH IN PRYOR , AND ALSO YOUR WORRIED BECAUSE TRESSEL CANT REEL IN A QUALITY QB TO REPLACE NUMNUTS..

USC ,Penn St, & Texas all had senior or final season QBs. TP is a freshman remember? It is hard to remember with a guy that good. He is good enough though that people forget that, and talk about him like he is the senior, making freshman mistakes.- NOT!!!
He played through the Freshman mistakes and came out of it with a very respectable 10-3 record. The 3 teams mentioned above were all in the top 5 in the nation, and all 3 went to BCS Bowls. Two of the three barely got by our freshman QB. TP & OSU could have been 12-1 if the ball had boucned a little different. Not bad for a learning freshman.
All freshman still make freshman mistakes, but he is different, and will be a difference maker in the years to come.
TP did better than Sanchez & USC, at least he beat the teams he was supposed to beat. TP and the Buckeyes did'nt lose to an Oregon St.!!!OUCH!!!

TP did better than Sanchez and USC? Really? Was that the same USC that smoked you by 35 in September - or a different USC you're comparing TP and the Buckeyes to? Maybe you're comparing OSU to the this year's Trojans who will probably do a lot more of the same to the Buckeyes in Columbus in September.
Sure, USC lost one they shouldn't 'have against Oregon - but, I don't think that any program (except Utah) finished the season undefeated. Florida, the MNC, lost at home to Mississippi - right?

In the meantime, interest nationwide in the senior-to-be from Westlake Village (Oaks Christian), Calif., has grown substantially in terms of scholarship offers, inquiries from recruiting services and the like.

Overlooked those 2, unlike most trolls I'll admit my mistake. Texas doesn't count until an actual offer is made. Thats like saying I'm considering buying a Ferrari but I'll probably just buy a Mustang.
Fact is most of the schools offering are 2nd tier schools or schools trying to regain their former glory.

One losing season does not make one a "has been". We've been far more consistent than any other school in D1 football over the past 40 years. You'd have been better betting on UM to have a winning season every year for the past 40 than to have put money in the stock market.

michigan could have been 12 -0 if the ball had bounced there way, what kind of sshiit are you smokin , remember you had 20 starters back and you would have had the same record if steven threet was your qb , try giving your entire team the credit , you act like if pryor was not there your buckeyes would have won 6 games , this is laughable
Unlike you, I don't smoke anything!
Yeah and in 07 Michigan had the whole tribe come back to win a NC {they said} and lost right off the bat in the worst, most humiliating loss in 1-A history to 1-AA App St!!!!
The only laughing I've heard out of Michigan about the future of Pryor is a nerous little laugh of insecurity.:o
As far as giving the rest of the team credit goes, read my post again stupid. I sadi TP & OSU, the QB is the team leader as any child would know..

Plus 1,
Can you do me a favor? Please pass along some of the stuff that you're smoking - because it's certainly very powerful stuff. But, you better be careful, because I think that it may contain some hallucinogenic substances.
Pay attention dumbbell. OSU was the underdog in that USC game, out there on the west coast. What I said was that at least TP & OSU beat the teams they were supposed to beat and Sanchez & USC did'nt {Oregon St.}. So your argument is ridiculous.
I will reserve judgement about this year's game in Columbus. OSU needs to replace it's "D" but we replaced 9 defensive players in 06 and kept on rollin. USC has to start a new QB, on the road. We'll see. Unless USC brings there own refs like they did in Southbend in 05. {The "Bush Push" game}

Every OSU fan has this mindframe. Makes it so sweet to watch them lose their 1 game during the season and then lose their bowl game.....love it!!!
I can't believe the UM mindset, trying to cover up the grief of having such a less than mediocre UM football team by pointing out OSU's 1 loss here and 1 there, how pathetic.
